Tavarataivas (2013)
Gave up after watching half of the movie
I initially thought this was going to be really clever and interesting. Instead, incredibly slow, boring and pointless. There are so many unanswered questions. The guy puts EVERYTHING into a storage locker and allows himself to retrieve one item per day. Well ... if it were me, I'd get some toilet paper. How he wipes himself is not explained. Neither is how does he brush his teeth, bath, eat, drink, pay his bills, pay for his rent, etc. Etc. Etc. Sorry, but this was ill-conceived and not believable. That is, this is not real; just made up. Waste of time.
I don't even know or care how it ends, as I turned it off after wasting about 45 minutes waiting for something interesting. Instead, the movie became more ridiculous.
The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)
My review includes spoiler
Doris Day and Jimmy Stewart appear to be a couple that will eventually end up getting divorced. Very strange relationship portrayed in this movie, with Stewart exhibiting anger management issues. So much of the plot makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Like why are the assassination team in a housed in a church, with the ring leader pretending to be a minister? Senseless. But the worse sin is that the guy shown to be responsible for ordering the assassination isn't even exposed at the end of the movie. This was, by far, the worst Hitchcock movie I've ever seen. I would have rated it a two, but give credit for the interesting locations. Overall, a complete waste of time.
El rey del Once (2016)
Unlikeable
Other reviews describe the gist of the movie, so I won't repeat it. Instead, I offer my take-away.
The reasons I was disappointed with this movie are ...
Not one person in this movie is likeable. Perhaps that was intentional, although I don't know what it accomplishes, because I could never discern the point of the film. The trajectory is unknowable and, as far as I am concerned, pointless.
Other than one woman who chooses to be quiet, deliberate and mute, everyone in the movie is rushed, demanding, and confused.
I couldn't feel any empathy towards anyone or their situation. All the characters were unlikeable, if not annoying. Everything is in chaos, dilapidated, disorganized, etc. I'm sure this was intentional too, but to what end, I cannot fathom.
I've been to Once (the neighborhood where this takes place) and it certainly is chaotic, crowded and full of live. I'm sure there are fascinating stories to be told that would grab my attention, but there was no interesting story here; just a prolonged wait for the moment when it all coalesced. But there was no such moment.
