It's OK
23 November 2021
So the little two kids and John boy are the only kid characters actually portrayed with any real acting, and even then, as Jim Bob and Elizabeth got older, the acting dipped exponentially. Without John boy and the adults, this show would be mind-numbingly pointless - as it was in later seasons. It's decent when John boy is the focus of the plot, although some of the relationship dynamics still give off weird and problematic vibes (like when Mary Ellen is into anyone or when anyone is into John boy). I understand it is portraying a certain time, but it could be more real. For what it is though, I find it hard to give any other rating, as I find it hard to believe anyone should expect this to be anything else.

Bad writing
22 November 2021
Just a lack of any worthwhile creativity is evident all over this film. The writing is trash, infused with stereotypical Marvel humor and even more annoying attempts at trying to drum up tears. The only thing that makes this film worth watching in any way is the acting in some key moments by some of the outrageously paid all-star cast, specifically the performances by Downey Jr and Johansson. I think both of them did particularly well, and I wish the latter was more prominent. Besides that though, there are about 14,000,605 outcomes where this movie is made, and all but one are laced with egregious plot holes and devices. We didn't get that one.

Deserves some credit
22 November 2021
"Black Panther" is not a perfect film (it's Marvel), but the fight scenes kept me intrigued and I thought there was actual character development in this. Letitia Wright is very cute and funny as Shuri, and Boseman is just the perfect combination of look, austere, and skill for this role. I saw it in theatres and do not regret that decision one bit. A better Marvel movie than a lot of their recent origin stories.

Alright attempt
22 November 2021
This movie has its moments, and it has that quintessential and very formulaic Marvel humor, so if you're into that coupled with some good CGI, this is certainly worth shutting your brain off and watching. Not as bad as some of the other MCU origin films that came out at around the same time. I actually got through this one.

Repetetive
22 November 2021
This is just Marvel. If you like Marvel, this can be amusing, but the movie isn't like genuinely artistic in any way. It can never keep my interest. I've tried watching it three times ands always eventually tune it out and shut it off. There's nothing this film adds other than another character to the MCU with a great actor portraying them to be able to shove more faces in their films.

infinite plot holes
22 November 2021
The attempts to pull on one's heart strings when they had already announced movies for half the characters in this thing post "End Game" is insulting to the intelligence of viewers. I have no idea how the end can make people emotional who literally know exactly what will happen by the end of the next one (unless you're a child, of course). Thanos is also one of the worst and most thoughtless villains ever constructed, incapable of understanding how both population grows exponentially and how resource depletion works. Despite having all the power, he also doesn't have half the brain necessary to realize offing all the Avengers would be the smartest move, or maybe, ya know, like creating more resources and planets, since he has legitimately godlike power by the end of it. This film is at best mindless entertainment with tons of CGI and quality acting, but don't be fooled, it's just as formulaic and predictable as a freaking Hallmark film. All Marvel is at this point.

Meh, it's alright

You would never think Stewart and Pattinson were good actors based on this film alone, but it's true enough to the subpar books to entertain you if you're content with a faithful adaptation and nothing more. I personally am, and so that's why I think 5 is fair.

Beautiful Film
21 November 2021
Visually stunning, and despite how long ago this film was made, the CGI is still beautiful to look at. Yes, the story isn't gonna break any ground or be anything you haven't seen before, but the world that is entered into still makes this movie worth it. Pandora is just truly gorgeous.

Shockingly good

When this came out, I remember thinking that there was no way Marvel could make these rando characters interesting. Oh my was I wrong. This film still stands up as one of the best Marvel movies out there, especially with how repetitive they keep getting now.

Know what you're watching!
20 November 2021
Generally a fun film, surprisingly not bad graphics for something with a very low budget, and acting that offers some much needed charisma at times (especially Henriksen and Nielsen). I would say on the younger side of the YA age range. Don't expect some dramatic/serious movie that's trying to say a lot - more like an ode to the gaming community (so yes it has some cursing throughout) that you can turn your brain off for and watch it play into its dorkiness. If you go in with the right expectations, I think it's def likable. More movies should be appreciated for what they are, especially independent films.

Pokemon meets Avatar
16 November 2021
This was super enjoyable, and I quite honestly think it was the best Pokemon movie since the original. That's not always saying a whole lot, as there have been a fair share of clunkers in that two-decade long bunch, but this is a film that is enjoyable for kids and adults alike. It is very reminiscent of the original Avatar film, and that's definitely not a bad thing. Whether you're into Pokemon or not, I think this is a quality animated film.
