Brickleberry (2012)
It Just Isn't Funny.
I was really looking forward to this series, after what seemed like months of Promos on Tosh.O. Well, I've sat through two full episodes so far, and I have yet to laugh even once. I just can't find anything humorous in it at all.
I see some of the other reviews compare it favorably with some of the titans of Comedy Central like South Park, The Daily Show or Tosh.O, but it not only doesn't compare with them, it's not even remotely in the same league as them.
Mind you, it's not *awful*, the animation is competent and the actors appear to read their lines correctly, but it really just has nothing going for it. They sure seem to be trying really hard to be funny, but it never seems to come off. The jokes aren't amusing, the characters are predictable, formulaic, and vapidly unoriginal, and the plots could have come from a Universal Cartoon Plot Generator.
Even when they are doing their darnedest to be outrageous and offensive, the acting and animation is so tepid and milquetoast, I just can't seem to care. I'm pretty sure they could do a 30 minute graphically explicit exploration of Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" and no one would even notice.
Pass. And unless you're terminally bored and have nothing else to do, I recommend that you do too.
Kill List (2011)
Truly Awful
Well there's an hour and a half of my life I'd sure like to get back.
Do yourself a huge favor and don't bother with this self-indulgent stumble-fest that has pretensions of itself as another Revolver but is really just a bad hodge-podge homage to the excremental 2006 Wicker Man. Though I suppose that anyone who liked Wicker Man might actually like this stinker too. So there's my quote for this film,
"If you didn't think that Wicker Man was the worst Hollywood piece-of- crap made in the last decade, then you probably won't think that Kill List is the worst British art film piece-of-crap of the past year either!"
Enjoy. :(
