The Joe Show (2014)
Uncomfortably dark and interesting. Intense!
Every so often, I want to see something completely unique. Something non-commercial. Independent. Low budget. Gritty. Dark. Outside the box, yet seemingly possible to have occurred in real life. This ticked all those boxes for me. The acting was so-so in many places, which only intensifies my enjoyment of these type of films. Makes it feel more real. But when Joe does his poetry, he transforms! Total pro! I loved the intensity of these poetry readings. I didn't even know there was a type of poetry out there that I'd enjoy. But now I do. And I love how Joe's life was one of raging despair. Watching a character trundle along, usually up to no good, yet only too aware that life need to be better than it is. The painfully lonely, quiet struggle. I just loved this thing.
