Planetes (2003)
one of the only 3 shows I'll rate 10/10 shows
It's hard to explain why this anime is so amazing some might say the story, the music, the characters or maybe the visuals but for me it's a combination of all of these factors.
I feel like this anime has one of the best story lines ever because it doesn't give the all the answers right away I love it when this show hints or gives the viewer 'half-answers' but like a thread the arc's unravels little by little and during that time we see the characters true feelings and thoughts we get in there lives to the point that by the end the story leaves a very emotional payoff and satisfying 'real answers', I feel Yuri's arc is like this (don't worry no spoilers), and when we see these characters true feelings they ironically feel down to earth and to the point where we can understand them all even when they collide against each other. Also every character has an arc everyone is connected and has value to the story, and while the ending isn't wrapped with a bow or anything by that matter it does what every ending is supposed to do be satisfying, perfectly.
K-On! (2009)
The one series I strongly defend
I know and understand k-on's actual critical rating (is very high 8/10) but it is still my favorite anime of all time and I'll explain why.
Look I am not saying with a hint of irony that k-on is a masterpiece (in its own way) I understand why people can criticize it or not like k-on but when people compare the story of k-on to the story of steins; gate of course it's going to lack (in comparison) they're different shows I think people should love this show for what it was meant to be a slice of life story focused on every day situations and a heart warming story about friendship and life that everyone can relate, for example a subtle story about how things change but accepting that and enjoying what is in front of you while it lasts because if you're too worried about the future you won't appreciate what you have in the present.
Another amazing aspect of this show is the character development watching the first and last episodes are like watching the same faces but different shows with different characters going from a timid and shy person to overcoming your fears or from having no goals or direction in life to having a passion and mastering it and so on.
And the story of friendship showing how it can break the boundaries of time and place but knowing it's meaningful is genuine because of how real the characters are and just like a bag of bricks it'll hit you hard and leave you weeping
All of that contributes to a relatable and genuine story that I will defend heavily.
