Landfall (2017)
'Landfall' Review (2020)
First of all I Loved 'Landfall' I really did think it was a good decent film its not perfect by all means but It was very engaging and left me wanting more. I personally thought Kristen Condon's (Maisey's Character) was Brilliant and well executed she felt real, it wasn't overplayed or underplayed for that matter and when she spoke It meant something, It felt real and honest. I thought Rob was good as well. Vernon Wells smashed it out of the park with his execution of Wexler. Tony Bonner was good as well, and the guy that played Paul (The Villain aka:- Bad guy) The location was simple but effective. The sound was a bit tinny in some area's but you got used to it, same with the lighting and grade of the film. I personally thought the ending was a tad bit weak in some area's I wish the VFX shot at the end looked better it did look cheesy and maybe should have got someone professional to work on and do it properly. It would of looked so much better. I was waiting for something else to be in the box I wasn't expecting it to be what it was and thought it was a bit weird but like I said all things I viewed and watched quickly and easily got used to it. I kinda wish it was answered more. Same with the idea that the two leading characters were there from the start being a Home Invasion it made sense but yeah felt a little weird with its execution but like I said got used to it fast. I thought the ending was nice with them at the beach and that beautiful shot.
Overall well done to all those involved and I give this film a solid and honest (7/10)
Thanks,
Luke

Watch the Sunset (2017)
Loved this film!!
WATCH THE SUNSET REVIEW (2020)
First of all after watching 'Watch the Sunset' my 1st Impressions Id have to say after watching it strictly from an enjoyable and proper viewing Id have to say that I was very impressed with the overall presentation of the films execution. I personally think that the whole '1 shot throughout the whole duration of the film was very very unique coming from a directing background 1st of all it keeps the audience glued it is very stimulating to watch, it keeps you in the action and not only that adds a sense of realism with its timing and pacing. There were some moments where I thought that they should of made shorter but then when I really sat down and thought about it I thought wow that felt real with the timings. It felt like I was there doing the journey with them from point A-B. Ill tell you what credit to Damien E Lipp for the cinematography, I know from personal experience holding a camera with that much intensity is drawing. The slow moment with a small little bit of camera shake helps to stimulate the film and add a sense of realism. I thought Tristan Barr's performance could of been pushed a bit more in certain key area's I respect him tho for not over doing the character and under playing it, but in the intense scenes I thought he was a little weak and could of added more intensity to really hit the point and sell it. Aaron Walton's performance what can I say brilliant and nailed his execution 150%. It was that intense I felt everything about his character from start to finish which is not to easy to execute either but the level he placed was beyond words. I thought that the music score was absolutely brilliant and I wouldn't be surprised Ive found my next music composer in my next film it was that good with its heavy intense feel about it. Kudos. To pull off some of those risky shots were insane and intense. Well executed. Well planned and rehearsed. Good timings. That car crash scene at the end was insane haha. And I really loved that beautiful crane shot at the end pulling from the target character Tristan's character tilting up to reveal the sunset setting in the background I don't know personally how you did that but you pulled it off the timings beautifully well done all great effort well done.

The Last Hope (2020)
An Honest Review!
1st of all I commend Leigh for having a go directing and staring in any film this is a huge achievement in ones self. Considering this is his first big film its a credit to him for trying. I agree and disagree with some of the other reviews. First of all to say that this film is unwatchable and i turned it off after 5mins is complete and other horse crap, I sat through the entire film with ease. I see where they were going with the whole handheld shakey feel and approach but this needs to be done in such away that doesn't distract and turn away viewers one thing I learnt when making my film "The Count" which does have a similar handheld style feel. I wish that I would of shown my actors how to use the camera properly before we started. Lesson learnt, ..and you do learn such things while making films something in which I don't think a lot of these reviewers fully understand on the mechanics behind making a film they are a bit to quick to judge I think. Acting was off and some/almost most of it felt forced, there were some good bits but a lot of cringe worthy robotic feels going on. Sound design def needed to be re-worked some of the audio that I heard while watching was off and not smooth this is so dam important to get right, if you nail the sound and music the footage follows, I felt at times I couldn't be immersed because the sound through me out of whack. Some of the effects where pretty cool. Makeup wasn't to bad but not over-ally great. Overall I gave this film a (4/10) for trying. Well done to everyone involved and keep trying ;)
Mad 2 the Max (2013)
MAXimized!! Entertainment
This was the very first short film that I saw of Lucas. I went and saw it at a small film night down in Melbourne called West Side Shorts. I really enjoyed it, it thought it was unique, it was smart, funny and good quality. It was a fun little ride and grabbed my attention and held it there which is great storytelling if you can do that. It was also a very simple but yet very effective idea. Great acting, and from the looks of it, it had a bit of production value put into it from the start. You can tell straight up that a bit of time and effort went into making this production. It went fast for a 7minute short film i found and I didn't find it boring to watch at all it was very stimulating and engaging and kept my attention. Well done to Lucas and Julie, it was a great little short film and I give it 9/10 for its rating.

Dead Therapy (2014)
Absolutely Stunning!
I was looking forward to seeing this film after seeing one of Lucas's earlier short films entitled "Mad 2 the Max" which I thought was a really good film, what more could you want guys, a fast v8, hot chicks in black skin tight leather, guns, the whole works and perks :P haha. It was very well shot and cut together short film from start to finish.
With Dead Therapy on the other hand I went in and kept an open mind about the whole film after seeing the 'Official Trailer which looked absolutely Stunning! from head to toe, it really stood out to me in a big way! and hit me like a sledgehammer so to speak. I had nothing but high hopes for this film from the very beginning and expected nothing but what Lucas does best. He delivered yet another Amazing!, very visually impressive film. The film was shot on a REDONE Camera, lighting was Incredible, Editing was flawless with its use of quick cuts that don't drag the film out and make it boring to watch, Location/Set Design equally impressive. I really love how simple but highly effective the film's idea was, you can really establish a connection between the two main characters Paul and Amanda played by the very talented Julie Dickson and Maurice Mammoliti.
And the one thing that really sold this film was its Amazing Sound Design and Music/Score it really did set the mood and the overall pacing/structure of the film. A very cleaver use of Voice Overs in there to help tell the story and offers such a powerful emotional performance between the two characters. Lucas also threw in a lot of Practical Effects from dust and dirt to large explosions coming from the barrel of a loaded shotgun.
Overall I thought this film was really good, it is a very well put together piece and I highly recommend it to anyone.
The only things that didn't quite gel with me and this is coming directly from the same background as Lucas that being a filmmaker are I'm just not a huge fan of Australians trying to put on American Accents, for some unknown reason it just doesn't feel or sound right and the use of some camera shots that I didn't quite click with. But other than that nothing effects the overall film experience.
I give this film (7/10)

Apocalyptic (2014)
Fantastic!! Storytelling
I went down to Melbourne (Cinema Nova) just to see the mans film himself Glenn Triggs new inspiring film "Apocalyptic". This was after seeing his prior film "41" I had high hopes which he did deliver very well :) Casting was fantastic! he did a great job, locations, character/s and story were all fantastic as well. I was captivated from start to finish the only thing that let me down the most but it was nothing major in terms of overall story or structure was the sound design I would of thrown a bit more sound design in there to really set it off and give it that Wow! Factor. I just felt that it was missing and really needed to give it that BOOM!! Shot of emotion. But other than that overall I thought it was a very well designed, put together film and I give it 7/10 i prob would of went up to 8 or 9 with the sound design.

The Count (2012)
Peter Spowart
There is a slow build up to the violence in which we see the reality of the characters. We see how events are being recorded, by anyone capable of picking up a camcorder. We get thoroughly used to an amateurish use of the camera. So there is an illusion of something happening now. The actual home invasion is not shown, there is a jump forward to two victims apparently unconscious and restrained. The main tormentor appears and explains his mad logic. One of the victims is tortured and killed. The woman is injured. Eventually the two intruders start fighting each other and the recording stops. Very good acting all round. Camera techniques reminiscent of John Cassavetes. Great control in the editing. Audio was designed for a decent sound system and is obviously better than what was the Revolt experience. Audience would be massively disappointed that there can never be a sequel where Jericho is brought to book or metamorphoses into a demon.
