Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Return of the Evil Dead franchise!
This film, Return of the Evil Dead, is a return to this old franchise, yet updated, and shall I say, born. I was completely entertained. I felt we were watching people who had no way out, similar to the earlier films I grew up watching in thr 80's. Yet...we watched the empowerment of one character & the maturation of another. No spoilers here on whom I'm speaking of... you have to watch this to see who I'm talking about.
I also like how the film will endear you to the main characters & take them from you unapologetically. For those that are into Gore Horror, this film will be right up your alley.
Lullaby (2022)
Crying babies will make you do anything...
To include humming a tune from a creepy looking book written in a language that someone knowledgeable of said language can't decipher. Which is the set up for "Lullaby". This blueprint has been used before, an unknown tragedy takes place in beginning of film, we're introduced to our protagonists. They come across something mysterious. Said mysterious thing bring some form of comfort... so they think! I fall for this all.the.time. The special effects were surprisingly not that bad here. The acting was done quite well, although the script could've been better. And the ending wasn't a surprise - they definitely set it up for Lullaby 2.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
Well done 4th Installment
Well done! Reaves is starting to move really really slow...and that's my only complaint on this film. THANK YOU for featuring Mr. Donnie Yen and making him a key figure. I find it very interesting that he incorporates his characters being blind which adds an extra added upmh to his presentation. I like very much the fight scenes that didn't involve Wick. It added tonthe film and helped to expand the Wick Universe. Thank you for introducing Mr. Nobody & his "Comfort K-9". There's a brief moment where the film revisits why we're here in the 1st place... Wick's love & compassion for Dogs. To bad all we'll remember John Wick as two words: Loving Husband.
Candyman (2021)
Pleasantly surprised...
With this film. It's presented as a reintroduction to this Horror classic when it's core is addressing the injustices that African Americans have faced and the Horrific trauma it creates.
