Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
Was compelling but the ending stinks!
Can we not admit that the lawyer paints how unrealistic it would be for her to travel from her swamp to the publishers and back, while committing murder in the end???
None of the drivers were able to identify her?
Yet she was the murderer after all.
Also, her outfits were unrealistic. Not every church donation would fit you perfectly. Maybe if there were a scene or two of her hemming and tailoring her secondhand outfits, then would this be believable.
I enjoyed the love story and idea of a girl raising herself alone in a swamp, but it's so unlikely.
Why wouldn't the shop owners just adopt her and take her in, especially if he loved her like a daughter?
Wanted to believe this fictional story but in the end was just a bunch of loose ends leaving the viewer left to question everything.
Like family and children services wouldn't have found her in 10 years? Lololol com'on.
The Price of Glee (2023)
Don't watch. Not a documentary at all!
Not really sure what this was supposed to accomplish. Very little insight into what happened behind the scenes. There really isn't a "price of Glee." They only share viewer ratings, no discussion detailing profits were added to the film.
There is no link between the three famous deaths which are pictured (Naya, Cory, & Mark).
The series has no other cast members or producers. It is mostly stand-ins, roommates, and set designers of the show. Which results in most people's statements being assumptions, judgements, or hearsay.
One set designer even admits, he didn't know how actors arrived to the studio (meaning sober or not) as by the time they would be on set, they would appear to be fine.
Maya's father is completely disassociated from his daughter's tragic death. He self-admits this within the doc. If he weren't so disassociated I'm sure he would see this 3 part series for the garbage that it is. 2 episodes being primarily on Cory.
Mark is briefly mentioned but overall he gets maybe 15 minutes of show time and there is no one interviewed to share his upbringing or how Glee effected him.
Only a psychotherapist is brought in, couldn't have a psychiatrist or psychologist who specializes in sexual deviation? Childhood trauma? Addiction? Etc...
All in all, save yourself the time. You will only learn that the cast and crew had long demanding days, with very little to no off-time during the first 2 seasons.
Dexter: New Blood (2021)
BORING!!
Deb always just freaking out or bleeding out? She has so many layers and this is the only one that stuck? Poor injustice to Deb.
Dexter isn't even hunting animals! Since when does his dark passenger not spot someone else with the same darkness in a split second? We have waited many episodes and he let his target run off into the woods. Dexter always finishes the job and covers his tracks. He is just so sloppy now!
Injecting someone with a needle and never going back to finish the job and leaving an eye witness testimony? Pretty sure that's violating the code right there! We miss you Harry!
The cop girlfriend was looking for the son then got bored of that. Was looking for justice for her deceased friend and got bored of that. Now is looking into Bay Harbour Butcher over two needle pricks? Talk about a needle in a haystack/swipe of luck for this ADHD cop.
Loved seeing Angel but miss the Miami scene.
The last season of Dexter sucked but I'd watch that a million times over this boring New Blood.
Biggest flaw Dexter lives in a city with barely any crime, so there is no one for him to kill.
Drawn out highschool plot with children...no thanks Harrison.
And Just Like That...: Tragically Hip (2021)
Disappointment after disappointment
I enjoy that there is more diversity in the show and it was truly overdue, but.....
1) the writing/storyline/character development is as pointless, nonexistent, and boring as it was in the SATC 2 movie. If the writer's love what they created they would bow down before slaughtering these characters any further
2) Carrie is still as whiny, needy, and annoying as she has been since s01e01 of OG SATC. Did being happily married and dependent on Big not evolve her in the slightest over the past 10 years. Chris Noth did the right thing by dying on the show.
3) SATC 1 movie has a full plot around Steve and Miranda overcoming an affair, rebuilding trust, and reconciliation. Why now is Miranda so in happy but also now doing what she promised Steve she would never do?! My thoughts are David Eigenberg is too busy with Chicago Fire to do this show and they need a stupid way to write him out.
If Miranda wants a new life/relationship can we not go about it in a more realistic way??
4) what friend has sex/an affair in the kitchen of another friend's home at any age other than their teens/20s? But prior to that got drunk and smoked marijuana when they are the assigned caretaker of said friend? No friend would ever do this out of respect and dignity to their life long friendship.
5) who wakes up in a hospital in pearls, a cardigan, shorts, etc? Just unrealistic
6) the forced woke culture is just sooo obviously pushed. It's pathetic. There are many shows on TV that integrate topics of LGBTQ2S+, race, religion, and equality. It's a missed mark.
7) Carrie hitting on her rehab therapist? Didn't the love of her life recently just die? She's so ready to flirt and be witty in front of her friends again? Com'on!!! Carrie moped around for 2 seasons when Big left her for Paris/Natasha, went to therapy after the first break up, and cried over him throughout SATC 1 movie (written over a year span). I'm surprised she isn't a bigger train wreck then what she was after her arrival in Mexico or the night on the beach vomiting in the sand.
Hitting on the rehab therapist is what Sam would have done, but she's not there so let's get Carrie to be the humorous one?
8) RIP.
