The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
7 episodes of nothing.
What did this series achieve? It had as much plot as a 2 minute short film. Relied on cameos.
Some of it was laughably bad. If this was a movie it would get a ridiculously low rating but it somehow managed to get higher.
No story at all. What was the point? Just shoddy visuals.
A Touch of Vengeance (2022)
Incredible, especially given the budget.
Went to the premier of the film in Sheffield. Couldn't belive how good it was!
To say the budget was so low, the acting was unbelievable and the visuals were fantastic. Parts of the movie were gripping, parts difficult to watch (by design).
Recommended it! Hope it goes on to do well.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger (2022)
We are just getting scammed with cameos.
This series has no story. Parts of it are reasonably entertaining, but it is awfully written and although these two episodes where better, they still rely on cameos over any meaningful story.
The Untouchables (1987)
Criminally underrated
This has to be one of my favourite movies of all time. I get that the history doesn't quite tie up, but the cinematography is perfection and the story is gripping.
My favourite scene in any movie is in this film. That's is when Malone is being followed through his apartment.
Star Wars Galaxy of Sounds (2021)
Annoying Watchable Disney Laziness
OK, this is just a cheap stop gap again from Disney. Meaningless clip show of moments of the past. A bit like when a series runs out of time so just cuts together a few clips and puts it out.
Saying that, I quite enjoyed them. I could only watch one at a time, but it did offer something a little different. I love John Williams and his soundtracks but having no music in some of these scenes made them better.
This was mainly in the sequels as it actually made me feel some sort of connection to a few of the characters when it was silent. Also, it allows you to notice the beauty of the prequels when they are given more time to show themselves off.
It has a Blade Runner feel to it. I think its something that should be looked at in the future for a Star Wars project. More silence and more time for emotions to hit.
In the sequels for example, the only scene which had any emotional impact was Han's death. A scene which was in complete silence. Just 2 characters talking.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine (2022)
Am I Watching Something Else Here?
I wasn't a huge fan of The Mandalorian. 90% of it was storyless and follows the same boring formula. A few half decent episodes were in there though.
I was hoping The Book of Boba Fett would be better. I read the reviews of the first episode and thought that if people are saying this is worse than Mando then I'm not going to like it.
After the first episode , I was pleased. It was far from perfect. It has some sort of a story though and despite that awful scene where he fought the monster with 4 arms, it was alright.
Reading the review of this episode, I was excited. People saying this was better than the first. It was very poor. Started alright and then was again storyless. What was the point in it? We learnt nothing. What was the point in the train scene? It was just a pointless action scene that added nothing to the story.
Overall, poor writing. It seems like they are writing what they want to see rather than what will tell the best story.
I just know its going to be like The Mandalorian now. 1 decent episode in about 4.
