Zivi i mrtvi (2007)

I saw this movie on film festival and it was pretty pointless from my opinion! First off all scenario is pretty bad! There is no any special action except people running through wood! First of all when I've heard that movie have (or at least should have) two crossing stories from Second World War and Yugoslavian Civil War and that lasts 90 minutes I was amazed, but after watching the movie even those 90 minutes were too long. In both scenes there is just running through woods. What I liked is production. The way camera moves through scenes and from which angles scene rolls is pretty good. And that is only thing I pretty much enjoyed. I also must say that Im disappointed in acting. Im not very familiar with new generation of Croatian actors but all actors in this movie are pretty much amateurs. There is much more better actors in Croatia and movies too. Im not even sure how this movie get on festival!?

Pedro did it again!!!

It's been about a month since I've decided to comment movies on IMDb.com. It's been very well till now.... It's hard to comment or even criticize Pedro Almodovar. But I'll do my best.... hmmm.... well Pedro Almodovar is special.... you like him or you don't like him.... and both probably don't understand him! Maybe even I don't understand Pedro but I have my version....so it could be something :)

This time Pedro moves story from fast Madrid on a little bit slower village near Madrid... There is mother, like in his, almost, all movies, and she's the center of story... And, like all his movies, you can't put this one into some genre... There is Pedro Almodovar genre... Something between drama and comedy... but it's not neither one....

Once again her brings us....well...specific characters... They are not crazy or stupid, they just, in strange situations, react strange and different and you've get along with that! Most people don't even notice! And it wouldn't be that great without cast who's brilliant! Penelope Cruz - great role! With this movie I consider her as one of my top actress! She magnificent! You must love her in this one, no matter if you don't like the movie.... Story is strange but simple...it goes nice and keeps you interested!

I love this movie! It was great time watching it! You should give it try...

I like movies that are for kids... I try to watch all cartoons that seems interesting but kid movies, specially adventures will be always something special for me.... I got a little bit tired of Harry Poter and I was happy when I saw this movie.... but this is different.....

Yes, it is adventure and fantasy... but that's not the point of the movie! It's much more about friendship, having someone and loosing someone.... and trying to keep someone in your heart no matter what happens... to be lucky at least for the past moments spent with someone....

Maybe this movie will be a bit hard for kids... Maybe you should watch it first before you decide to watch it with your kid.... In some moments movie is really sad and it shows that life isn't fair... And no matter what we won't... destiny is something else! And I consider myself as a big child but I can't still get with that... and I'll always get sad when life doesn't play fair... and it never does!!!

So... keep your head up....enjoy your past and present moment because you don't know what future brings!!!

Shocking....

Its hard to comment on some "true story" movies! This story...true story...it's so shocking and scary and really makes you ask yourself "in what kind of world we are living?".... and that's a good part! It will scares you but it will show you some real life tragedy that happened and that will happen... and it could happen to anyone! You should be aware! So this is really shocking tragedy about brutal life of females on Mexican/USA boarder! And its true!!!

So after getting me shocked its really hard to comment on acting, scenes, etc. But I must do that because this is no documentary! And from movie aspect... well... it's not that much! I must admit that Jeniffer Lopez is much better actress than on her first movies but everyone else.... Antonio Banderas has just a short role, nothing special and other actors are not some famous... at least not to me! They are good but....

This movie is not for an award but I recommend you to watch it, because it's a true story and it shows hard living, bad politics, corruption, trying to stay alive and you are on your own.......

Pan's Labyrinth (2006)

Just beautiful...

I love this movie! And it's definitely one of those that I'll be watching few more times! Story about civil war in Spain told through life of one little girl and her imaginary world is simply brilliant! You must love the story! Acting is really great! Everyone... such realistic... But what movie makes really great is scenes and costumes!!! WOOOOOW!!! This movie is a great example how to invest money, and everyone in Hollywood should watch it! It doesn't matter how millions you've spent in special effects if you don't have artistic touch like this movie!

Costumes are really beautiful and scary... And so realistic... And scenes... ohhh'... I haven't seen something like that for a long time!

You must watch this one....

The Holiday (2006)

Cute..... but not enough!

First of all I would like to declare myself as someone who likes romantic-comedy genre! You must admit that some movies from this genres get you this stupid smile on face... And I guess that every of that stupid smiles counts on that who good romantic or how funny movie really are! In this movie... There are couple of those moments! But not enough... like in "Nothing's Hill"... It's romantic... but not enough for drama! And there is not enough of those cute-stupid-smile-scenes for romantic-comedy! Actors are great except Jack Black.... somehow...he didn't "blend in" the movie for me... maybe cause I got used to watch him as some jackass... Movie is too long of such a simple story... 2 hours of "maybe - maybe not".... Anyway... nothing special... I've expected much more from this movie!

Complete waste of time.... This movie is not comedy, it's not drama, it's not romance...not even teenage comedy at least!!! Story... it should be some turn-over one end... but it's so disappointing! When movie has a turn-over on end I expect that turn-over to make movie even better (exp. "Fight Club") but this turn-over makes movie even worse.... When I watch teenage comedy, and I don't do that very often, I expect lousy jokes and bunch of nudeness... Jokes are too lousy and there is no nudity... You got only one....very good looking I must admit... girl, and that's that! And she's fully dressed whole movie! Acting is bad... like soap series... Don't waste your time! There are porns with better story and acting!

Im tired of this kind of movies. Cheep story. I hate when i can tell you about a movie in one sentence. In first 2 minutes you get that "There's a guy who should be dead!" And thats whole point of movie. In last 10 minutes you got pretty lousy, and expected, turn over and pathetic ending! And rest of the movie, about more than hour and half, you got running, jumping, killing, explosions, blood everywhere, few good jokes and bunch of bad ones.... I know that there is a lot of people who can enjoy just in action but Im not that type of guy. I hate James Bond... At beginning I wanted to watch this movie because of Common, since he's one of my favorites rap artist, secondly... Alicia! I'm don't like to listen to her as much as I love to look at her... but I can't tell anything about their acting since there is no characters... Everyone just running around. So it's hard to tell anything about some acting! So if I would said anything about actors that would be probably something from their other movies!

I recommend this movie to anyone who's into James Bond action movie with expensive explosions and cheep scenario! If you are looking for some story, characters, deep connection between characters... Don't waste your time!

Should I stay or should I go!?

I enjoyed this movie... very much... but Im sitting here and cant figure out why! Story isn't something special. Im a big fan of true stories and I love all movies about "great" people... This is true story, but nothing important. Maybe thats the reason why I liked this movie! Story about a boy Dito, growing up between "dirty" streets of Queens. Maybe this movie for someone from Beverly Hills is a big deal... but I've grew up in pretty same neighborhood, and thats, probably, also a reason while i like this movie that much. You have a violent friend who's always making trouble, long nights spent just sitting on the corner, first love on stairs, friend who died for nothing... not enough cash and big dreams of getting out of it. Great acting, more than I expected. I'm not such a fan of Robert Downey Jr. but I liked "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and I think that this is, not that big role, but also very good one. Also Dito Montiel (real one) was a writer and directed story bout himself. That could be a tricky for anyone. I would be too emotional probably, but Dito was really good. And you must have on mind that this was his first time. So... Bravo Dito! I like the scenes of Queens in late 70's. Part of living and being left has a good point, and that keep me thinking after movie. So...every movie that makes you think! after it must be a good one. I definitely recommend this movie from everyone no matter where you come from! ...there is a quote from one movie thats say "or you leave and forget everyone, or you stay and get f**ked!"

First of all I want to comment movie: Movie turned out to be documentary... but even documentaries on History Channel are better than this one. It looks like "five o'clock new coverage, from middle east". I don't like the concept. Really short action scenes cut out with interviews of real people is not something that I enjoy. Actors are not that bad, but there is no much acting. Scenes are no longer than a minute. There is too much numbers and there are no characters. There are characters but they are just numbers. There guys, five bombings, two hundred people died, stayed in prison for 3 years. Everythin seems just like war report.

Second, I would tell a bit about whats going on (no spoilers, don't worry): This is happy ending movie, documentary, report, whatever. In war... there is no happy endings. And thats the point that documentary like this must have. They survive, and guy get married and they live in Englad for a long time. Whats with people that are not England citizens? Who was born in Afghanistan, raised and died there!? No one makes a movie about them!? Im from Serbia, and I was bombed from USA/UK forces couple of times... So I take this documentary a little bit personal... This movie is made for people from USA/UK to see whats really going on... and to show some other side of their government. But on end, its happy end. Truth wins. And everyone will go "awwwww...." like they are watched Jenny Jones show. Thats why this documentary has no point! Three guys have survived but millions have died and still do!

Brilliant!!!

This movie was so refreshing for me... Its been a while since I've seen movie that has segments of comedy, drama, tragedy all in once, and that all goes with each other.... Story about a "not so normal" family, filled with weird situations, but when it comes to end you can ask yourself: "who is normal? is something wrong with them or with others?!" They are just normal family in weird world like we all are, so they just look weird... They just enjoying their life filed with ups and downs... And "little miss sunshine" is everyone who feels that way! Really great acting of everyone, simple story, great shots.... I would recommend this movie for everyone!!!
