Mesmerized (1985)
Slow pace adds nothing
The slow pace of this movie adds nothing to the suspenseful nature. It's just plain boring. Lithgow and Foster are outstanding, but editing and/or directing made this a crash-and-burn. Yawn! Although the scenery is beautiful at times, the interior shots are all cliched and uninteresting. As if the director is trying to draw the viewer towards well-known references, but rewarding him with nothing novel in the end.
Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye (2000)
Thoroughly enjoyable
Having seen other Bollywood flicks with Salman Khan in them, I can say this is my favorite of the more recent ones. The songs are all quite fun, especially 'O Priya O Priya' which seems to have a nice mix of Beatles, Indian music and (dare I say this) a bit of Prince. The love stories are a bit more believable than, say, Chal Mere Bhai. The occasional focus on Prem's use of alcohol is at times troubling as it doesn't really seem to make sense to me, but it's played well by Khan--although his voice does become squeaky when he's portraying drunkenness.
Chal Mere Bhai (2000)
OK, but directing and editing a bit clumsy
Although Ms Kapoor's performance of Sapna at times brings out the ditziness of the character, it also seems a bit forced and makes one wonder if a bit of stronger direction might have helped. The love story on the part of the brothers (Dutt and Khan) towards Sapna is somewhat difficult to believe. One can halfway see Vicky's attraction to Sapna because of her slightly heroic actions, but it's a bit more challenging to believe that of Prem's. There are times where scene cuts and pacing have one scratching one's head. There is a drunken scene much like that in Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, and Mr Khan shows he can do it well.
