WHAT A HORROR!
11 September 2003
My gosh! Do they still make this crap? I can't believe these are the same makers of "Hum Aapke Hain Koun". And to think this was 2003's most awaited film? Glad "Koi Mil Gaya" is taking that position?

Basically, Sanjana (Kareena) is to get married to Prem (Abhishek), but instead, his employee and close friend Prem Kishen (Hrithik), comes instead. Sanjana's father (Pankaj) and mother (Himani) approve of him, but one night they find out he's a fraud, Sanjana's mother no longer approves of him. He goes back to USA, and it's fights between Sanjana and her mother. Then the real Prem comes, and the two hit it off real well. Except, Sanjana doesn't know he's there to marry her. What is she to do? WHAT THE HELL ELSE WILL SHE DO? Come on, "I will love him to the end of time!"...Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon??? Of course it's Hrithik!

This film is garbage. This is where Bollywood faulters: the audience chooses quantity over quality, and would rather watch an entertaining film, than a great film! In May, a horrible film "Ishq Vishk" started a wave of successes. These films include: "Andaaz", "Bhoot", "Chalte Chalte", "Qayamat", "Hungama", and of course, "Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon" - ALL HORRIBLE FILMS!

Hrithik Roshan needs the award for "MOST OVERACTING IN A FILM". His character is so irritating, that you'd pay Sanjana to kill him! Hrithik's loud, childish, immature, stupid, sickening, insulting performance will surely go down as another embarrassment to the Hindi film industry, just like many of Salman Khan's roles.(Hello Brother, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaaye)

Kareena is okay. I don't want to say much. Abhishek is the best performer of the film, alongside Sanjana's parents.

"Bani Bani" is the only song with good picturisation. The rest are all stupid. To make matters worse, the film has an animated talking parrot that names famous Hindi films, and pops up out of nowhere. There is also a dog that gets a cartoon face when he gets mad. Sounds stupid yet?

Don't see Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon. Please!

Home Movies (1999–2004)
A Great Show
11 September 2003
I just happened to flip on Cartoon Network one day, and watch this humourous cartoon with drawings looking like coloured pencils, and the lines move on the characters and in the background. But I absolutely love this show! It has to be Cartoon Network's greatest, and thank god we have genius' like Brendan Small, who are creative and very intelligent to put up a cartoon about 8-year-old film directors Brendan, Jason, and Melissa. Also, I really have to praise Paula, Brendan's mother, because she is really funny! Coach McGurk is the kind of soccer coach I always wanted: the normal, 30+ guy that makes mistakes, and swears rapidly.

And I was VERY glad when I came back from England in August 2002, and the show was much improved: they used different technology and skecthes for the show! It doesn't have those jiggly lines and no-budget look!

Seriously, Adult Swim is what you need to watch, because Home Movies has become a favourite with my house.

An Instant Favourite

What can I say? I find it absolutely hilarious! Everytime I watch this show, I end up laughing TOO hard where everyone in the household can hear me, which is why I've stopped watching it at my friend's houses! I'm 100% sure that if anyone watches this show, they'll be hooked!

Saathiya (2002)
10/10
Remake or original, Saathiya is mindblowing
14 June 2003
The pre-release hype was huge, the soundtrack became the second best-selling soundtrack of 2002, and to add, it had names such as AR Rehman (music director), Gulzar (lyricst), and two actors with a huge fan following, Rani Mukherjee and Vivek Oberoi.

The film opened with an average opening in India, UK, and the USA, because it was released alongside the much-delayed star studded Kaante. Then, slowly and gradually, the films collections picked up, and the film managed to gross Rs. 15 crores in India, £288,004 in Great Britain, and $324,111 in America, becoming a hit.

Suhani and Aditya meet at a local wedding. Weeks later, Suhani moves to Mumbai to become a doctor. Aditya meets her at the train station, trying to woo her, but she won't give in. After Aditya's father disrespects Suhani's parents while coming for the alliance and Suhani going to training do they get married secretly. At Dina's (Suhani's sister) alliance, it breaks of Suhani's marriage, and the couple are kicked out of their houses, and move in with each other. Soon, their personalities clash, and an accident almost changes their lives drastically.

Vivek Oberoi delivers his third great performance (following Company and Road), which is amazing for a newcomer. He emotes so well, and has a great passion in his eyes. Rani Mukherjee gives it her all, and steals your heart. She's proved herself as a true actress here.

The music is amazing. All the picturisations are upto mark. The title track is best in audio and film, while other great songs 'Naina Milake', 'Chhalka Chhalka Re', and 'Chupke Se' stay with you. 'Aye Udi Udi's picturisation is perfect, and demonstrates the "shows and characters" they give each other in the bedroom!

If there is any fool: whether they are South Asian, Indo-Caribbean, gori, kali, Chinese, Arab, PLEASE SEE THIS FILM! We can all learn to live life, and stop all these small problems. Because when someone you love almost passes away or does pass away, everything doesn't matter anymore.

Wise not to "stand united"!
30 July 2002
Even though I am Indo-Caribbean and do like watching films just to connect with motherland,I do feel that we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. We will make films like K3G and Lagaan bigger hits overseas than good films like Chandni Bar.I waited two years to get this because I wasn't interested and because it grossed $2 million in USA and films that gross over $300,000 get pirated the fastest.

Mr Sooraj sure knows how to make the perfect formula.Put six attractive stars (and hide one) all over on trailors and posters and cd's and then only have Karishma Kapoor and Neelam (the hidden one) steal the show from the females Tabu and Sonali Bendre, which is disappointing because all four are talented, but Tabu only gets 12 lines and Sonali, probably 15.Then for our males...Salman Khan's name is first and he only gets 10 lines where Saif Ali Khan and Mohnish Behl steal the spotlight anyways.Even the supporting artiste get more lines and even the children get more scope, all Salman,Tabu and Sonali get to do is stand in the background and blush.

Well, only two good tracks are 'Mere Hiwda Mein' and 'Maiya Yashoda'.It has a really good repeat value because I have seen it three times and if you like it,then you must not like films with high meaning like Lajja,Chandni Bar,Dil Se or Astivta, and Tabu won best actress awards for Chandni Bar and Astivta.Glad she was the first actress to do crossover into art films because she is not going to waste herself any longer in silly commercial masala!
