The Boys: The Instant White-Hot Wild (2022)
A rushed but nonetheless stellar conclusion to the best season yet
This show has come such a long way, and has remained interesting, engaging, and relevant the entire time. Season 3 of the Boys cranks everything about the show up to 11 and my god, does it pay off. Homelander's speech at the end of episode 2, the entire episode of Herogasm, the Temp V, everything is done excellently. This finale ties everything up in a neat, albeit rushed, bow. This finale could have been an extra half hour and I would've been happy. The editing also felt choppy and hurried, but those are my only two complaints. This finale had my jaw on the FLOOR the entire time, and the ending perfectly sets up what could be the best season of the Boys yet. Season 4 CAN NOT come soon enough. PHENOMENAL SHOW.
Stranger Things: Chapter Nine: The Piggyback (2022)
Holy mother of god, what a phenomenal finale
This was everything any fan of Stranger Things could ask for for a finale. Epic in scope, stellar in music, beautiful in cinematography, excellently acted; the list goes on. This is the finale for this season that everybody wanted, and it's the one we got. Spectacular. This is the best season of Stranger Things that we've ever gotten, and I'm so proud of everyone involved for making this season come to fruition. Passion and love went into this season, and it shows. Incredible.
Stranger Things: Chapter Eight: Papa (2022)
AND WE'RE BACK!
Volume 2 starts with a bang and doesn't let up! This is one hell of an intense episode, and doesn't ever take the foot off the gas. Every scene escalated into the next with emotional moment after emotional moment and tons of glorious payback in the end. I am beyond excited for the monstrous 2.5 hour finale next. This show is beyond great.
Ms. Marvel: Generation Why (2022)
Don't listen to the one star reviews
First off, this first episode is absolutely enjoyable. The actress who plays Ms. Marvel is stellar and her passion for the character really shows. The other actors around her are also very very good, and they all feel like real people with personality compared to wooden caricatures like we got in other MCU shows (FATWS, anybody?). There's also a remarkable amount of style here. There's a lot to pick up on; the directing style is very intimate and fun, with lots of long takes, and the little animations in the background add so much flavor to each and every shot. This genuinely feels like the most solid MCU show through and through, and I'm shocked in even saying that. I went in with admittedly low expectations, and I found myself really enjoying everything I saw! Time will tell how the rest of the season pans out, but so far, this is starting off as strong as Moon Knight did for me.
Secondly, everyone reviewing this show with a one-star review clearly did not bother to actually watch it or simply wants to hate it because it's providing a diverse portfolio of characters and making people feel included. Don't listen to these people. Watch the show, rate it honestly, and you'll find you may really enjoy it. I know I really enjoyed this first episode. Just give it a chance; you won't regret it.
Very pumped for episode 2!
Stranger Things: Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab (2022)
A perfect mid-season finale.
Holy mother of god this was incredible. Stranger Things is officially back, and I cannot wait until July 1st. Praying to the Netflix gods that they bump the release date because OH MY GOD I need those episodes. The demogorgon fight alone in this episode was a phenomenal scene, and everything that surrounds it is just as good if not better. Absolutely stellar.
Stranger Things: Chapter Six: The Dive (2022)
Tensions grow
This whole episode was just a continuous ratcheting up of tensions until the absolutely bombastic finale. Episode 7 is about to be absolutely stellar.
Stranger Things: Chapter Five: The Nina Project (2022)
Come on... do something...
After the whirlwind of an episode that was Dear Billy, I fully expected this episode to be the one to start picking the pace up. This one instead takes a chill backseat, although it does still have its moments. I found myself saying more and more "when will something really happen?" So hopefully something soon.
Stranger Things: Chapter Four: Dear Billy (2022)
Phenomenal last fifteen minutes
The last fifteen minutes of this episode are exactly what I want from this show. In addition to the phenomenal one shot earlier in the episode, Dear Billy might be my favorite episode so far. This season certainly seems to be picking up pace!
Stranger Things: Chapter Three: The Monster and the Superhero (2022)
The calm before the storm
This episode was spent very much just putting characters in place. The end set up the dramatic fourth episode, which I am very much looking forward to. So far, this season has been good! Hasn't quite justified the three-year wait for me yet, but I have a feeling it will soon.
Stranger Things: Chapter Two: Vecna's Curse (2022)
This man does not deserve the peace of death... so I have sent him to hell.
A great follow up to the first episode! Also has one of the hardest lines of dialogue I've ever heard (see review title). Not much else to say but this season is already better than season 3 for me. Loving this so far!!
Stranger Things: Chapter One: The Hellfire Club (2022)
Excellent start to a promising season
After the mess of plot lines that was season 3, despite the excellent way it wrapped up, this first episode of season 4 makes everything feel simple and just like classic Stranger Things. A shockingly excellent return to form that made me both excited to watch the rest of the season and thrilled to be back with these characters. Great!!
