Poor Things (2023)
A masterpiece thats not for everyone!
I'll keep it short: either you love the movie for what it is or you might find it disturbing and even not entertaining.
The acting by Emma Stone is indeed outstanding. From subtlety to grace, she grows her character throughout the entire film. The camerawork is awesome, the soundtrack is outstanding and fits perfectly, the production design is remarkable and so is the editing. The story isn't up to par with the visuals but it's still more than meets the eye. Its Barbie on steroids.
I have given a 10 to conquer all the one out of tens, since those scores are ridiculous. It would still be a 9 in my book though and worth giving it the "must see" score.
The Creator (2023)
It would've benefited from longer scenes
By now, you should already know that The Creator is an immensely bautiful Sci-Fi movie that lacks a good story, let alone a missed opportunity for a meaningful one.
But if you just focus on the aspect of the camerawork and imagery and especially the editing, you must come to the conclusion that it's all too hectic for the beautiful scenery.
There is not a single moment, where the audience can take a breather and gasp at the environment or have a moment to relax. Its a constant bombardement of cuts and I really do hope for a revides cut edition on bluray somewhere down the line.
There is 1 scene though that takes this into account and its when the Radiohead soundtrack kicks in. I would've loved so very much more moments like these.
Go watch it on the big screen now!
