Brown's Requiem (1998)
Wonderful, evocative adaptation of Ellroy

The film succeeds at the most basic level: it creates a vivid lead character, and portrays a specific time and place accurately and memorably.
Fans of noir should not miss this undeservedly obscure rendering of Ellroy's first (and most autobiographical) novel.

The Addiction (1995)
Philosophical vampire flick
9 February 2002 - 5 out of 8 users found this review helpful.
This is a thinking person's horror movie. The vampire legend, rich in symbolism and metaphor, has never been treated with such intellectual depth and ironic humor.
Anyone who has ever pursued an academic graduate degree will appreciate the nuances when vampires infiltrate and take over the Philosophy Department at NYU.
