Guilty Party (2021)
Have seen 1 episode so far...
4 November 2021
... and I really like it. Kate, why did you do so many Underworld etc. Movies? You are really funny! Watched this one episode after having seen Jolt, which I really enjoyed because of Kate's funny side. Well done, looking forward to more Guilty Party and funny Kate in particular. So, my review is still too short, so I will gladly repet myself, Kate Beckinsale is a talented comedic actress who can also do action, obviously.

An allegory for our time
15 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
An honest look at history (war as death and violence) will reveal a darker picture than a heavily romanticized one would (soldier as hero). What to do with the knowledge of honesty? William Tell proposes to leave it with the actors of that history, take the lessons learned and move on. Salvation is not for everyone(Tell, Gordo), those that can, though, should embrace it (Cirk).

William Tell covers the furniture in the hotel rooms he stays in. He is trying to protect his surroundings from the karma he may leave behind.

Great story. 100%. I only wish Paul Shrader would have let someone else direct it. I strongly believe the collaboration would have tightened the project.

The Misfits (2021)
It isn't The Godfather, but still absolutely entertaining
18 August 2021
The negative reviews are really harsh. This movie did not deserve this. I thought it was quite entertaining. The locations looked very nice and the acting was good.

I felt very well entertained
18 July 2021
... both on an intellectual and emotional level. There was evidently a lot of heart in this by all participants. Cast and crew. Well done!

If Hollywood does those terrible superhero crap movies so it can finance these little gems, it would be one of few redeeming values of those mindless blockbusters.

Sugar Daddy (2020)
Very well done gem. Caught me by surprise.

Warning: Spoilers
Very well executed and interesting story. Characters were well written and played, even remote characters.

There is a scene where Darren is asked to "pitch" or "sell" her art and she stumbles for words and coherence. Filmically well done!

There was one moment I did not relate to. Maybe a fault in the film or mabe a moment I did not understand/interpret well. When Darren is talking with her friends about her enterprise, her retort is very aggressive. This I did not follow because I felt the mood was another at that point. I felt it to be kind of a tonality/mood continuity error.

Looking forward to watching more from Kelly McCormack!

Great

Great story, great execution, great actors and a stellar Riz Ahmed. I don't think he was ever less than excellent. Oscar nod would be deserved for his work.

Good work by all!
9 September 2019
I can only wish that a director that can use all the potential of the cast and crew in such an impressive way will have some future in the business. Very impressive work by all participants.

What is going on?
3 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Is this a real game show or is it some kind of satire?

All contestants seem like on drugs, always clapping, screaming, all repeating the same lines. This cannot be real, or is it?

Great editing!
6 May 2019
Really love and admire the film editing! Of course, there is no good editing without quality before that stage, and so this review is praise to all involved! Well done!

Very old school, film noire vibe made in a modern style. Very enjoyable. The score is brilliant.

Laughed out loud watching alone
16 November 2018
This has not happened in a long time: I thought this was so funny, I laughed out loud several times. Even skipped back to rewatch perfect comedic timing.

Cast was incredible! All parts, especially the posse.

Well done!

The negative reviewers watched a different movie. Obviously.

Good little film. Enjoyed it. Good script.
10 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The story was good, the script as well. Acting was very good. Cinematography, editing, production design were not developed and merely technical, which was a pity as they took away from the good acting instead of propelling it..

Other reviewers are hung up on the religious aspect. To me it was not so much about religion as it was about a person's convictions being tested.

Well done to the actors.

I liked it. Funny, tragic, sexy, independant.

This film is not like most others. That is a good thing if you consider most others are either Disney or Riefenstahlesque Superhero movies...

Great acting, Potente is a solid actress, Cage was Cage (a good thing), Penelope Mitchell was intense and I did not now Lydia Hearst was also an actress! The supporting cast was on point and seemed fleshed out. Good job!

The story was interesting, the execution was good. Here and there one could see that the production had some budget constraints, but everybody did a pretty fine job of working with those limitations.

Cinematography and lighting were unconventional but gave the film a nice look and feel and were thankfully consistent. Editing was solid, there was only one edit that broke the flow (a double take on Cage).

It was a film for me.

Great acting and characters
23 February 2018
Went into this with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The characters came to life and were believable and sympathetic. In the era of Riefenstahlesque superhero movies that is a welcome alternative... Thanks.

I enjoyed it. Great lighting.
22 February 2018
With all of the crazy mediocre remakes (e.g. what happened to "Dinner for Schmucks"???) this was really good, well made and great cinematography and lighting. Really liked the lighting of the faces with the flat light.

I saw the version by Lumet, which I also liked.

Mother! (2017)
Happy to see people are still making films like the Europeans did in the 1970s
16 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Experimental, allegorical, symbolic, guttural.

Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning as a fertile being, made to give birth and nurture its young (not meant as a sexist comment but more in a naturalistic way)

Really liked Michelle Pfeiffer's performance. Kept hoping Susie Green from Curb Your Enthusiasm would drop in and show Jennifer Lawrence's character how to speak one's mind.

Great episode and series in general!

My question: Did I hear a Verdi Requiem sample when "the gang" enters the barn party and discuss their strategy?

Great Show & Great Episode
17 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This show is becoming increasingly better. The character arcs are becoming longer and more complex, the dynamic with the more present Mycroft adds a third element that really rocks the boat. And one is beginning to see the cost of genius for both Sherlock and Mycroft. All this is thoroughly enjoyable to watch.

Admittedly, I find Sherlock hard to understand at times, but be it context or diction - there must be something hard to follow with a legendary mind as his...

Lucy Liu is exceptional. As an actor and as a director. This interpretation of Sherlock and Watson is fun to watch.

I am very happy that the police are not caricatured as Lestrade & Co. usually are. They are very well portrayed and I enjoy the respect the main characters have for each other.

Looking forward to more.
