Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Just as good as the first one
It isn't often that a film sequel lives up to the expectations of the first film, especially in animation, but Across the Spider-Verse is just as compelling and watchable as the first one.
Everything worked - the plot, the pace, the set-pieces. I didn't even mind that it was a cliffhanger ending. From the openign sequence with Gwen, to the Spider-man India scenes, to the final chase sequence, this film rocked from start to finish. The animation was superior to anything I've ever seen in a western film, with the exception of Puss in Boots the Last Wish.
See this film in Dolby Atmos or 4D if you can, you won't regret it.
Mia and Me: The Hero of Centopia (2022)
Funny film with fun and colorful characters
I loved this film especially the unicorns Onchao, Stormy, and Phuddle, he is so funny in this movie. Mia is a great heroine, and that's what the title of this movie should really be, "The heroine of Centopia". The animation is better than the TV show as are the characters and the islands. I really like the way the dark world of Toxor, and he is such a cool villain, looks, it is the best. Also the King is a lot more goofy and funny in this film than the TV show. Mo and Yuko are great together and finally together. There's magic, fighting bad guys and saving the world, what's not to like? I had to rent this movie as it is not showing in the cinemas, but it's still a lot of fun.
The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse (2022)
A must watch
First of, the look of this film is superb. It looks like the classic hand drawn animation of a children's book, rather than the usual CGI style most animation films are these days.
Second, is the voice cast, and casting - Tom Hollander as the the Mole, Gabriel Byrne (so glad to hear this great actor's voice in an animation film) as the horse, and Idris Elba as the fox.
Finally it is only half an hour long, so just something you can watch anytime you want.
It is gentle, very well paced and suitable for families of all ages, some parts get really sad, but with life lessons that can be learned by all it's worth half an hour of your time.
