The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003)
All depends on your age
OK so I feel the need to defend this movie a bit. When I saw it i think i was about 8 or 9 or something like that. Maybe 7. I don't know. But whatever it was I was in LOVE with Lizzie McGuire. To me she was this amazing girl who i could look up to, who was always put together well, who had 2 amazing friends, who never had any problems that didn't get resolved in 30 minutes. (I WAS A KID.) So when i heard the series was ending I was heart-broken. And then I see a preview. A MOVIE?!?!? One more chance to see my favorite real TV star in action? THANK YOU GOD! So i went and i absolutely, totally LOVES this movie.
A couple of nights ago I'm flipping through channels and I happen to come across Disney channel. They're showing this movie. I decide "What the heck? I loved it years ago." And I realized something. My mom must have unending patience considering how many times i made her sit through this movie with me.
I couldn't believed I ever liked this movie. Its so cheesy its scary, Lizzie looks like an idiot, that one guy everyone has a crush on (name?) looks ugly as sin, and Gordo... don't even get me started. Plus the entire time, this figure as a little girl i had LOVED is acting like a total idiot. Why did i never notice? Lizzie is such a bimbo! Christ! I mean Gordo OBVIOUSLY likes her, and the Spanish singer OBVIOUSLY is a lying bastard. And the ending? Just... wow...
So I guess it all depends on your age. If your a little girl you're going to love this film, more than likely. Older person? You will either hate it or laugh your ass off at the cheesy-ness of it.
I'm rating a 6 purely for my old love.
Disaster Movie (2008)
please! just stop it!
When i first saw that Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer where making yet another horrible spoof movie a little piece of me died inside. When I saw the previews for the movie? I lost a little faith in humanity. When i was in English class, some jackass boy in the back of the room said he was going to see this movie over the weekend and about 10 other kids said "Oh that looks good" and "I wanna see it too" I completely lost hope.
These movies are horrible. For the love of god stop making them! My friends and I went to this movie along with a couple of guys and girls we weren't really friends with (we were bored OK?) We left ten minutes after the previews ended and went to another movie. Horrible, horrible, horrible.
But i suppose as long as there are hoards of little boys who get all excited at the prospect of horrible potty humor and whores these movies will continue. Damn.
The Breakfast Club (1985)
One of the best movies EVER
This movie is honestly one of the best ones I have ever seen. It easily and brilliantly captures a time when is to the extreme and when anything can happen.
Everyone can remember the groups in school (the popular kids, the freaks, the jocks, the nerds, etc.) Everyone can relate to at least character in the movie and everyone will end up cheering them on by the end. The acting is great. Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, and Ally Sheedy give a amazing performances and truly put their heart and soul into their parts. The emotion the actors put into their parts really make you believe everything they say. You may start off laughing a bit when "Bender" starts describing what its like at his house but by the end you'll be stunned silent. Emeilio Estevez plays the jock very well and the scene where he describing what he did to end up in detention and how much he hates his dad is one of the best scenes in the movie he puts so emotion in it. Everything Ally does is totally convincing (she's the crazy one.) This movie may have come out about 7 years before i was even born but it is one of the best ones i have ever seen and probably the one that touched me the most. It's a movie you really don't want to end. You'll walk away from this movie with a new perspective. It's a must see.
