We're All Going to the World's Fair (2021)
interesting
There's not too much I can say about this film. I really enjoyed how homemade it felt, I felt comfortable watching and the prolonged scenes with no jump cut were captivating even when there wa no dialogue or anything going on. Idle contemplation is what I gathered from a lot of the scenes.
What really grabbed my attention was that Alex G wrote the music for this film. I think the music really brought the overall vibe together: isolated, uneventful, grey. To have this general feel for the film portrayed in music definitely helped with the feeling the movie was giving (of course in a good way). This type of psychological horror is relevant to current times with the internet and it's dark corners. I wish that there was more of the off-putting feeling that a few scenes delivered.
I liked this movie, it's definitely a movie you have to get cozy for and pay a lot of attention to.
The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
stoners ftw
When I went into this film, I thought I was going to see your average teen horror movie with evil forest magic. But I was so far from correct, well, sort of. At first, I thought this was a spoof because of Chris Hemsworth's character walking in with a football, then I thought that this was just going to be another cheesy movie I can giggle at with my friends.
But, this was a really fun movie to watch. It wasn't the best quality in terms of CGI, practical effects were pretty sick. I really enjoyed this moive because although the framework is supposed to have some sort of horror aspect, the horror was way more laid back than I expected.
I love a good horror movie trope and the characters breaking out of that cliche persona into more powerful and conscious people was super interesting to see. Not to mention, this movie is a big W to the stoner community.
This movie was totally original, it's something that I would not have expected from a horror movie (I don't know if you would consider this horror but you get the idea). I'm super glad that I decided to watch this movie.
