Perhaps it helped, but I was aware of the negative reviews before I watched Dangerous Waters. I almost expected a really bad movie. What I got was an enjoyable B grade of a film that was both messy and good throughout. Ray Liotta was barely in this, but I must say that I was still impressed by his performance. We truly lost a very talented artist because his intense glare will haunt me forever. I also liked Odeya Rush's performance as the resilient Rose. Rush can act and I think she did a good job with what she was given to work with. Sadly, I can't say the same for Eric Dane. That's not to say he was bad, but he could have been more convincing. It was as if he was trying too hard at times, and sometimes less is more. All in all, I liked this. It's not gonna get any Oscars, but I was entertained. RIP Ray Liotta.

If you're looking for a movie with a simple human story and great performances, you might really enjoy this film. However, if you're seeking a more complex and deep human story, you'll probably be a little disappointed. The issue I have with 'Last Flag Flying' is that it gives the impression of being much deeper than it really is. Perhaps it's because I'm comparing it to 'The Last Detail,' a movie that wasn't overly complex but still left a lasting impression. It wasn't too long, and it was never dull. 'Last Flag Flying' was both. Yet, you can't call it a bad film. Personally, I loved Cranston's performance. He's no Nicholson, but he is certainly a talented actor. Yes, the movie isn't attempting to be a sequel to 'The Last Detail,' but we need some basis for comparison. I did that, and it simply doesn't carry the same weight. Nevertheless, it's still a decent movie, to some extent.

This has to be one of the most interesting shows I have ever seen. It starts off very light and I would say the first five episodes are very entertaining in a fun way. However, you are always reminded of the drama and the seriousness of what these characters are going through. At times you aren't even sure if you are watching a drama or comedy. As we going through the final episodes, the show becomes much deeper and more dramatic. I wasn't sure how to take these shifts at first, but it does make sense in order to propel the story. We needed closure. Most of all, we needed these two characters to find one another in the most perfect way. That being said, this show really teaches us some valuable lessons about life. Life is too short to be angry. At the end of the day, we are all dealing with something, and some of us are dealing with the exact same thing.

It seems that most of the people who are downvoting this movie are doing so because they were expecting a different movie. The truth is that I was as well. I would much rather see more romance and less fighting. Well, this is where a lot of relationships go, unfortunately. I wanted to give this movie a 6 because I did not want to witness such toxicity, but the truth is that the movie was brilliantly done. It felt more real than most love stories. Seriously, how well do you know someone after spending one day together? Isn't it possible that one or two seemingly magical days can skew your view of someone? This seems to be the story of two people who fell in love a little too hard, a little too early. What is also evident is that they both changed a lot during this time. The most troubling aspect is that Celine went from being someone who believed in reincarnation and magic to becoming a closed-minded cynic who no longer believed in much, particularly a fairytale romance. What happened to her? Jesse had changed too, but he still believed in that fairytale romance. He truly wanted to be with her and to love her with all his heart. You wonder if they would still be together today. Well, I wouldn't lay any bets. That ball is totally and completely in Celine's court. I wasn't going to ramble on about this in this manner, but I guess this should tell you that this movie truly leaves an impression. I want to see it again. The two leads did an absolutely phenomenal job and they also co-wrote the movie, which is just brilliantly written. That dialogue is unbelievably well constructed. It all flowed so well.

I was supposed to go see this movie with my sister in 1994, but we never went for some reason. Fast forward 29 years and I finally watched it. Well, I could have waited longer if I'm going to be totally honest with you. I really wanted to like this one, but there was just nothing enjoyable about it. There weren't many laughs, Pesci was borderline annoying. While I did feel for his character, it just didn't hit very deep. What were they trying to make here? It was hardly a comedy and if it was a drama, it surely failed at being that too. Brendan Gleeson can act, but even his acting or his goofiness benefited this movie much. Moira Kelly got to shine a little bit, but Patrick Dempsey was completely wasted. I think this movie would've been much better if they had done the movie without Pesci and instead focused on the relationships that existed between the students. It would've been a much different film obviously, but the younger stars had chemistry and they weren't annoying either.

What was the point of this movie? This was supposed to be a romcom, but it was anything but that. The fact that there was almost no chemistry between the leads wasn't even the biggest problem. It was the split screens! You have no hope of building anything if you're almost never in the same space. Yes, I agree you can build a bond through online communication, but you need to meet. If there is something to be learned from this movie, it's that you need much more than technology to build a strong and healthy relationship, especially a romantic one. On top of that, the writing just didn't make sense. The characters seemed massively underdeveloped and it was so boring at times that it was hard to follow. And again, I believe the main problem had to do with the film's long distance angle. So are there any bright spots? Well, Reese Witherspoon seems to do a good job with almost any script she's given. You can't help but admire her ability to draw you in while starring in even the poorest movies. The only problem is that you can't expect one person to carry a movie. Kutcher just looked tired. I don't even think he wanted to be there. Why on earth would he?

I must say that I was thoroughly surprised when I watched this one. I'm writing this in 2023, a total of 18 years since the film's release and I don't remember having heard of this movie before. The only reason I found it is because I was browsing this very website. All I can say is that this movie is truly a hidden gem. It really does what a movie of this type is supposed to do, which is to move you and make you fall in love with life. The movie is not without flaws, but the flaws barely matter because the flow of the movie and the chemistry between the two leads is all that is needed here. If everything needs to make sense to you at all times, then you might have a problem with this movie, but if you're like me and only want to see a good lighthearted movie that takes you to a place you don't want to leave, then I would highly recommend Just Like Heaven. For some bizarre reason, this movie is not categorized as a romance, but it is very much that. It is of course funny and sad too. This movie might even be the best romcom I have seen in my entire life. Those are big words, but I just can't think of another one that touched me like this one did.

Somewhat watchable pointless mess

This movie could have been fairly decent if they hadn't gone overboard with the race stuff. Most people don't care about that, but Hollywood seems to care more about it than just about everyone. My cousin is married to someone of a different race than hers, but we've never ever had any of the discussions that we saw in this movie. So was it funny? There were times when it was, but it never lasted. It was on the verge of being boring, but it never got bad. Not that it was ever good either. I enjoyed Jonah Hill's performance and I thought Julia Louis-Dreyfus was alright. The rest of the cast was completely wasted. Eddie Murphy should be ashamed of himself for having participated in this project. His character was absurd. Not one time was he funny. And he's Eddie Murphy! Do yourself a favor and don't watch this. At least not sober.
Boys on the Side

Boys on the Side is one of those movies that had every potential to be great, but just couldn't quite get there. Still, it's not a bad movie. It starts off rather well, but it's when the movie stops being a road movie it loses it's appeal. The sad part is that the characters are all interesting, but we never get to know them fully or even understand their connections in a way we should in a movie like this. What was missing were more meaningful scenes. Whoopi Goldberg and Drew Barrymore did the best with what they were given, but it was Mary-Louise's powerful performance as the AIDS stricken Robin that stood out. You could literally feel her pain through her eyes. If you wanna see a movie from the '90s that has good acting in it, then perhaps Boys On The Side could be for you.

There are so many problems with the last 30 minutes of this movie that I'm tempted to give it 5 stars, but I won't and the reason is because the first half was quite good. They were doing a great job with the slow pace, the dialogue was well written and the performances were on point for the most part. The actor who really earned his paycheck was Fedja van Huêt who played Patrick, the doctor who turned out to be anything but that. It felt like he wasn't even acting. Sadly, the flaws were just too many in the end and it became so unrealistic that you almost wanted to turn it off. I don't mind the bad guys winning, but do it right at least. Make it feel real.

How can such a brilliant show have such a terrible ending? This is a question that I will ask myself for many years to come. Saul Goodman or Jimmy McGill was a swindler and a criminal since he was a juvenile growing up in Chicago. His entire life was one big short cut. He cut corners whenever he could cut corners and ran small time schemes until he became a major player in Albuquerque's underworld, laundering millions of dollars of illicit cash and advising drug lords, at times suggesting murder as a way of dealing with a problem. This was not a man who was evolving. He was devolving! Yet, they went with a Hollywood ending where Saul somehow swaps 7 years at one of the more comfortable prisons in the federal prison system for 86 years at Supermax. WHY? No one in their right mind would ever do that, especially Jimmy. Not only that, he didn't need to do it. It was as absurd as it gets. Sadly, the 7 years was also absurd. Given the gravity of his crimes, not even the best attorney on the planet could've hashed out such a good deal. It's as if Vince and Peter had no idea how to end the show.

Danny Cohen's Phoenix is one of those underrated gems that most people have no idea about. It's also one of the most real movies I've ever seen. You truly feel it's authenticity as the story moves along, almost as if what's taking place is really happening. Cohen knew exactly what he was doing when he made it, but one has to wonder if the audience expected to see a different movie. It's not a thriller. It's not Pulp Fiction. It's not Reservoir Dogs in the desert. In fact, you probably shouldn't watch it if you think you know what kind of movie this is. There are many things to admire about Phoenix, but what stands out is Ray Liotta's powerful performance as the corrupt cop Harry Collins. No one could've played that role better.

This movie could not have been better because the story was to silly to allow it. Horror movies depend on how real they appear to be. Sadly, this movie never felt authentic. I love it when paranormal elements elevate a story, but often they simply don't. That's the case here. I imagine if I was 25 years younger, I'd have a much more favorable view of this movie. If you're not a teenager and you want to watch something that is genuinely frightening and realistic then this is absolutely not the movie for you. That being said, the director did a good job with what he had, but the true stars are the young actors, particularly Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw.

If it wasn't for my intense love for the era this movie was made in, I'd remove one star from my rating. This is not a good movie by any means, but it is more than enjoyable to watch. In fact, you almost don't want this crazy ride to end. If you're a fan of Scott Glenn, you should watch this. If you love the era and miss those action B-movies that made little to no sense, but satisfied your need for mindless fun and excitement, then you should DEFINITELY watch this.
Non-Stop

Kinda silly, but highly entertaining

This isn't Die Hard of the skies, but Non-Stop still does a good job at keeping you on the edge throughout. The action is there, but this movie is more of a psychological thriller than an action movie. Liam Neeson does what he's expected to do, but with some excellent support from Julianne Moore and Michelle Dockery. Don't watch this movie with any expectations. If you do that, you'll probably enjoy it.

Slow burner that requires patience and an artistic eye

This is an interesting movie, but it's not a movie everyone is going to appreciate. The story itself is as old as time. There's nothing new here, but that doesn't matter because Gold is not about the story. It's not even about gold. It's about a man who was already searching for something better. This man who is played brilliantly by Zac Efron does not say much, but his face says everything. It's almost as if the search was already over from the very beginning. I would recommend this movie to people who don't mind watching slow burners where the main theme is misery. I would also recommend it for people who are tired of today's overflow of information or want to see something that isn't too heavy to process after a long day. The cinematography is incredible.
Melrose Place

The most addictive trashy soap opera of the '90s

What can you say about Melrose Place? I first saw it when it was still on air. At the time I was only a teenager, but I remember absolutely loving the hell out of it for one simple reason: The craziness never ended! Almost every episode ended with such a cliffhanger that you couldn't help but watch the next episode. It was like a drug. You just needed to know what happened each time. Yes, many of the lines were cheesy and sometimes the acting could've been better, but the show worked. People from all over the globe were watching it and everyone loved to talk about what was happening on it. Personally, I'll never forget some of those conversations. There were times when I almost gave up on it, but just when you thought you were done with it, they pulled you back in. One thing is for sure: The '90s would not have been the same without Melrose Place.

It is rare that you stumble upon a gem that is so misunderstood by the masses that you can't help but be in awe of their delusional assessment, but Netflix has managed to deliver it to us. Yes, it is truly sad that so many of us have this great need to believe in conspiracies. If the case of Elisa Lam can teach us anything, it is that we need to be careful of how we conduct our pursuit of the truth. We need to be mindful of how it can hurt people who don't deserve to be hurt. I hope this documentary finds you and I hope you understand why it's important. If you leave your expectations at the door and you approach what is being presented with an open mind, you should be able to do just that.

Who are you kidding, John? You should have been paying them.

The most beautiful love story ever caught on film

I remember seeing this movie a couple of years after it came out and falling head over heels in love with Marisa Tomei's character Caroline. What a beautiful performance. Now after having watched it a second time some 25 years later, I can better understand why I was so smitten and why the movie itself touched my heart (no pun) so greatly. The secret to this beautiful love story lies in it's all too human characters. Caroline is the heartbroken waitress who so deeply wants to love and be loved, and Adam, Caroline's shy and lonely coworker who has had a secret crush on Caroline for some time. It's Adam's character that gives this story it's deep emotions. Thanks to Christian Slater's superb portrayal, you will feel Adam's pain and find yourself rooting for his survival. If you're in the mood for a movie about two beautiful souls who find each other in a seemingly dark world and how powerful love can be, then this movie is for you.
