Kill Me If You Dare (2024)

The film is extremely stupid, a typical Polish comedy whose plot is that people don't talk to each other and draw conclusions from, I don't know, rain and a crystal ball. Nothing in this movie is funny and nothing is true. People are stripped of personality, dignity, character and feelings. They all seem barely sketched.

But what hurt me the most and what disgusted me the most was the showing of my beloved Warsaw and my beloved country. The interiors, streets and places are artificial and repulsive, stripped of their color. These are just decorations from breakfast TV. Something terrible. I am ashamed that such bad titles are produced in my country.

The movie would be at least good if it ended with the first funeral, unfortunately. The creators decided that the recipient was an idiot and would not be able to find their own ending.

Dancing with your d*k out, nice, but half an hour?

I also cannot help but mention how blatant plagiarism this film is, it draws from "White Lotus" and even more from "Ete 85", with "Ete 85" being a lesser known but much better film.

The satire on the elites is much less subtle, intelligent and funny than in "White Lotus", but in a sense the coarseness has its purpose.

What cannot be faulted is the acting and cinematography. It's a visual gem, but does it last?

X (II) (2022)

Pure fear of ageing

Despite good acting and stunning visuals, the film cannot defend itself even as a typical slasher. There is no place for horror in it, no place even for sexual tension. It's exceptionally repulsive. It presents sexual desires, appearance, and behavior of elderly people as something utterly depraved, vile, and leading to crime and perversions. This causes film X to be not only very weak, but also socially harmful.

Mocking the elderly and stripping them of their dignity is a malevolence equivalent to racism. It's neither funny nor instructive.

I'm surprised A24 could be involved in something so disgraceful.

Two stars just for Mia's acting skills.
