The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live (2024)
Scott Gimple, please retire from Tv
Very lame story, terrible way to re-introduce the story. Overwhelming the story with unnecessary subplots typical from the creators of this show. These people are no cinephiles, nor even movie enthusiasts, they are clowns with little or no idea of great storytelling. Is sad to see such incredible actors gone to waste. They have no idea how to tell a story. I wish I could go there and help them. Everything u can sit not to work in a script is here. Bad direction is also there present for the most part. I was very enthusiastic about this whole thing now not anymore. I won't continue watching this.
Is this was a movie it will be a nominee for a Razzie, probably will loose. Scott Gimple u need to work on the private sector or as a plumber or in a kitchen. No more tv shows, U R EMBARRASSING.
Carmen (1983)
Unapologetic and Wild
The idea of this choreography intertwined between the tormented mind of Antonio and the dance they are rehearsing to the point of dwelling incoherently in and out of his nightmare is magnificent. Is his obsession needing of Carmen in his life is at the heart of the film and where everything moves forward. Carmen like a force of unstoppable nature would refuse to accept anything but what she desires. This is probably what I like the most of the film, its surrealist tone wherever everything is an interpretation of someone else's dreams and nightmares. Pretty much what cinema is all about, but here is all in your face, all at once, unapologetic and wild.
Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
Disjointed movie
Idk, perhaps all this critics and I saw different movies. Tbh I will say this movie is beautifully shot by Prieto, with good performances but with a poor narrative construct. Mollie (Gladstone) and Ernst (DiCaprio) is recusable as a couple but there is no urgency, no opposition in telling the story this way. It seems passive. The movie linger and lingers over nothing and goes nowhere. There's no tension, no real story. As a story I could tell it in a paragraph. For a 3 hours + that goes nowhere from a huge budget and Scorsese, DeNiro and DiCaprio is a sham. I'm sorry to say cuz I love the 3 of them dearly specially Marty. It just hurt me the amount of brown noser desease here. Is overly dull and boring.
People are saying the trial is good, well the trial is something as before there is nothing. I like 3 hour + movies (Babylon) I like 4 hour movies (Eureka) I like 9 hour movies (Filipino family) but this 3 hours felt so unnecessary. In one word. Pointless plot.
Scrapper (2023)
The worst direction since Cats
If u could give a 0 to this I would. Absolutely terrible directing. No idea how to tell a story. Terrible terrible terrible. Comparing it with the Florida project is a travesty. People have no idea about cinema will like this nonsense. Make it quirky and there not a British drama, an absolute garbage of a film. I'll enjoy more a Michael Bay movie better than this utter pile of crap.
Mistake after mistake after mistake. Terribly directing and they won an award omg for what. Imagine yourself reading a book, any book, and Every line is taken for all sort of different books. So example:
"Once upon a time there was a girl who likes squirrels
3'90 in inclosed with the balcony and the patio
Then u put the butter and mix strongly until set
Is 17 degrees with heavy winds today in London"
Would u read a book like this?? That's exactly how this movie is told. It ain't funny or quirky or dramatic or anything is just rubbish holiday school rubbish.
Metropolitan (1989)
Charming pseudo Garbage
I mean it isn't totally rubbish, is quite challenging as the acting outside the rat pack is atrocious. Surely has some dimensional ideas about it but I couldn't find them interesting nor reliable. If something I felt all the characters flat except from Tom. Intended that way, I get it. Wasn't the idea to picture of this upper class obnoxious kids separated from reality appealing manners to treat matters of life in a trivial way? Summoning meaning into ideals, philosophy and sociology playing a part in everything they do. There's no urgency, there's isn't any immediate goal. All is left to wonder. That's what I found obnoxious, the distance between reality and fairy tale. Some pieces where pretentious and nonsensical, others monotheistic and repetitive. Still I did finish the movie, some of the characters talk to me personally and others didn't. I guess
If u are a traditional movie goer or a turist u won't be able to enjoy this type of story telling. What I mean is for the average Netflix minion this would be missing the typical box ticking architecture. Expand the limits off what you consider storytelling and u might enjoy this one.
Talk to Me (2022)
Missed opportunity
No high intense drama, no arc of trauma, not a fabulous storytelling
Great choose of characters, that they are not conventional looking making them more attractive, real, everyday, great idea to connect with the everyday audience member. Similar to an apology to drug abuse and teenage party rituals. Good stuff; the cinematography. Aaron those a great job using natural light. Good composition. Great use of the scenery. Story wise was a bit of a letdown. There's no elevation of anything. Is it better than the average Netflix millionaire productions, by a clear mile yes. I was very connected with the story the first 30 min, after started to fade. I would it had deleted many scenes and add some other ones. I guess there was a bit of over exposure in many of the plot lines but that's the issue that it really tried hard to tell a compelling story but it felt disjointed and broken, (not intended, I believe). Overall not the best scary Aussie film. Still the babadook being the best. With a very compelling and emotional story of trauma.
The Black Phone (2021)
Boring, repetitive, laughable
I don't if laughter should be applied here. But is a laughable mess. The Director have this in common in most of his films. He have this very adolescent almost immature tone in all his works. Funny how the Netflix era have done so much to cultivate poor storytelling with ok visuals. Is exactly what I see here. Is sort of a Netflix movie. The disjointed story is nothing but pieces of different ideas scattered around what it could been a memorable one plot. The Grabber(Hawke) is unfinished and quickly forgettable, (Davies) performance as the drunk father is above terrible, borderline comedic. Both Actors Mason Thomas and Madeleine McGraw save the only favourable part of this film, their story and performance is believable, they feel connected in this mediocre mess of a film. Overall it feels unexplored, lazy work at best. Don't know what an actor like Hawke with such a diverse range can see interesting into working with such an untalented director as Derrickson.
The Whale (2022)
Weak Aronofsky
I found it absolutely dumbfounded, unimaginative, repetitive, boring. Lots of plot left out for no reason and lots of nonsensical scenes in it for no purpose but to press the right buttons to manipulate the audience into believing this was an acceptable grief study. Fraser is a charming man always but not here. For a movie who praise so much at the core of the story to be honest (also used repetitive as an add filter for their Trojan horse story) only at the end have a moment of honesty. I couldn't believe Fraser nor the motives for Charlie. He was good but not that good. Doesn't deserve an Oscar for this, in my opinion. Sandler did a few years ago. Sadly not Fraser. (I wish I was wrong)
