Wrestlers (2023)
Loved it!
Always been a big wrestling fan since back in the mid 80s watching the then WWF so it wasn't a shock that I'd enjoy this series but didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.
Never heard of OVW here in the UK but genuinely felt for the lives of the characters in this show, even started to understand Matt towards the end.
It's a brutal way to make a living but you can tell all the wrestlers love making the fans happy. They're not perfect, but who is!
Favourite characters were of course Hollywood Hally J, Cashflo and without doubt Al Snow.
So cmon Netflix do the right thing and give us a second series.
Living (2022)
What a beautiful film
I put this on a few weeks back and managed 15 minutes before turning it off thinking this really isn't my kind of film. Please do not make the same stupid mistake, as a few weeks later I stumble upon it again and thought "oh why not" and I'm glad I gave it a second chance.
What a beautiful story about life and death and how quickly it can creep up upon us, how we would like to be remembered for doing something good in the world even if it's a small thing.
Bill Nighy was excellent as Mr. Williams and so were the supporting cast. Also beautifully shot and a lovely pace to the film.
Actually made me appreciate how everyone seemed to have manners back in the day.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
The ph'ANT'om Menace!
Couldn't really be bothered to write a review at first but my title was too good to waste! Yes I'm laughing at my own jokes but I didn't have any humour worth smiling about during this movie.
Apart from Jonathan Majors who was excellent and is probably wondering why (apart from the massive pay) he decided to join this faltering franchise.
Let's get real MCU, whatever you are doing since Endgame just isn't working. None of the new characters have any depth therefore we don't care about them, the stories are pretty dreadful and I can't even blame it on the constant Man bashing that's going on in these movies now.
By the end I was just wishing Kang had destroyed the MCU movie universe to save us from even more upcoming features. Please stop now Marvel or tell Disney to back off and get back to writing great movies/characters for both male and female superheroes.
That's why we bought your comics in the first place.
Creed III (2023)
Really Good but not great
As a huge Rocky/Creed fan you have to half expect one that comes along that's not as good as the others and this was it. That's not a negative because I still enjoyed it, Jordan and TT are still great on screen and I though Jonathan Majors character was brilliant and had some real unexplored depth which lead to me think I wish that he'd have won, maybe on points at the end so we could see how his character really develops when he has money and fame, and also a potential Drago fight.
I feel Viktor has a big role to still play in the franchise, along with Amara's development as a female boxer (we can all see that coming right, which if done correctly could be interesting)
Wasn't keen on the isolated boxers sequence in the fight but that's just me.
I went in thinking would I miss Rocky, but actually didn't because it really is about Adonis now and I think they've played his step back amazingly well.
Don't get me wrong the odd cameo would still be great.
Ps. Soundtrack is on point.
Update. Just seen it again and it's pretty boring second time around not like the first 2 instalments.
Also, you can see where they're going with this franchise. The next one will be about the daughter and the challenges she'll face as a deaf boxer. Unfortunately it will kill the franchise like a straight right!
