Road House (2024)

A good but indecensive movie

When they announced the Road House remake I felt pretty much nothing. But then, when they have put Jake Gillenhaal and Doug Liman(Born Identity,Edge of tommorow) my hopes forthismovie got pretty high. And even if I think that people were to hard on this movie(59% come on, it's not that bad), I still wil say that I was disappointed.

The first thing I should mention is that it is quite different from the original Road House, but in a good way. Of course it takes the main characters' name and the concept, but everything else is qiuet different. The main characters motivation and his personality was definitely a good change. Also Jillenhaal potrays his character much better than Swayze. He brings a lot of drama and depth in the character. Also McGregor potrays a very charismatic and funny villlain. But here comes the main problem.

Now see, in my opinion this two charactres just don't go toghether. When Jake is trying to make this film dramatic and simple, Connor takes it as a goofy action comedy. And if this were to separed movies I think both them would have made a great part of that. However, in this movie it just breaks the tone, and destroy both sides of it. You can't take Jyllenhaals' drama seriously when in the same movie naked McGregor is destroing a market. And you can't laugh from the naked McGregor because of the serious themes this movie is trying to explore.

Now obviously this movie is better than the original and I still think it's underrated, but be ready to have some problems while watching it.

An unexpected masterpiece

When the information about this movie dropped out I didn't get to excited. I liked the first one enough, but I couldn't call it a great movie that need a sequel. Also I didn't like the trailer, the animation was like a copy of a spiderverse and nine lives concept didn't interest me enough. So, I wnt in this movie with low expectations. And damn, it got me.

It was pirfect from the first scene to the last. The animation that look strange in the trailer in the first scene pulled rainbow out of my eyes. And with colorful beginning the movie got deep and dark. The main message dit hit me, the characters were charismatic and the movie itself talked about interesting and serious topics. But somehow all this darkness don't make you feel depressed, no, in the final it brings up all the positive emotions that a person can have.

It is only 9.5/10 just because the plot wasn't that original. Otherwise it is an awesoe movie which I can recommend to everybody.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)

A beautiful mess.

I didn't have a lot of expectations for this movie. I went seeng it on my birthday so just a good movie would be very acceptable. However even with this expectations I was disappointed.

But lets start with the positive. I enjoyed the animation of this movie, and I really liked the tecnical aspects of the film. Also we could see Leonardo from a different perspective which is interesting. However, here we end with the good things.

On the negative side I have a lot more to say. At first, although I did like the TNMT design, everybody else in tis movie looked strange. Like the camera paid attentin to every humans body details that I wouldn't like to see in the cinema. Also this brings to another problem, the movie is just to vile. Like here we have two.vomitting scenes and the worst kiss in the entire movie history. Also(SPOILER ALERT) in the finale the main villain turned into a very creepy in a bad way monster.

(HERE I WILL DISCUSS THE PLOT WITH THE SPOILERS) And I didn't even get to the script which is quite bad. Like you know the three act structure, this movie doesn't really get how it works. The movies first act is actulally Ok, but what we get next... It all messes up when they meet up with Eypreel, and she is like: wow, the scary looking turteles, we shouldn't I work with them. And they together rush through the second act like a train without any breaks. And the third act is the worst of them all. All the villains except super fly, change their side afterone speach, without even a single hint in the previous scenes. But than it goes worse. The whole society changes their opinion about the mutants only because ONE girl said that they are good. And it is happening during the mutant mayhem.

Finally, I can't say that this movie is terrible, but it is defenitely isn't worth watching.

Past Lives (2023)

Good movie, but is it that good?

I want to make myself perfectly clear at the beginning: this is a good movie. And eventhough it is good I can't call it great and can't agree with the critics on this one. And surprisingly,I'm the one who should resonate with this movie lot more then others, because I went through the imigration myself. However, I guess that I just got used to more emotional movies, with more actors expressions. And I was shocked how calm and quiet this movie is. It is not a criticism of the movie, it is just my own issues. Another thing about this movie is that I just can't say anything bad about it, it is just not my cup of tea.

And even if I wasn't crazy about it, I still have a lot of respect for it, and I recommend you to check it out.
