Mean Girls (2024)
Mean rating ouch.
Seriously, wtf was this? This was TERRIBLE. I don't want to be mean-no pun intended, but this was bad. All of the bad detailed reviews were spot on.
It's not bad because it's a musical-it's bad because of the acting, the characters, the jokes etc. This movie is a parody of an amazing movie. Tina Fey should be ashamed; who directed this? I couldn't make it past half way, unfortunately. Tina Fey, I love you but what was this?
Save your time and don't watch this. It's not even enjoyable to hate watch. It's just bad. Like really, really bad. Acting, cast and directing. The writing was bad too :/
Sid Is Dead (2023)
Surprisingly Good
I had low expectations because there are just thousands of bad movies out there whether they're too woke, too boring, too cliche etc.
This isn't one of them. It kept my attention the whole time. It definitely has many unrealistic moments and I think that's its flaw, but the message is strong: be brave and live life epically.
It's a combination of Mean Girls and Super Bad. You can tell they wanted a new cult classic movie made and you can see the inspiration from both of these movies. It is unique, though. Not as predictable as you think and tells a new story that I haven't seen in a teen movie yet.
Again, not a realistic portrayal of high school, but it's still a pretty good movie. The lead is fantastic and the rest of the cast is pretty good. I'd recommend.
The Women and the Murderer (2021)
Compelling story but bad doc
The story is completely engrossing, but it glosses over the crimes committed. I recommend the doc but it's slightly boring. It would be much more captivating if the victim's backstories were told and the crimes committed.
This doc just says the name of the victims and their injuries. This creates boredom and disinterest in the viewer. These crimes were horrific; tell us how terrible these crimes were and the victims that were involved. There is no detail. Doc 5/10; story 10/10.
I agree with most of the reviews. It's a good watch but not outstanding. You're not going to end this documentary and say "wow, best doc I've ever watched."
El caso Wanninkhof-Carabantes (2021)
Concise and engaging
This documentary has a short run time, but covers quite a bit. It uses concise storytelling to focus on the important issues **spoilers** such as wrongful conviction. It's a good watch and highly recommended!
Spoilers***
How could a woman be convicted for a murder when her fingerprints didn't match the ones on the scene? In fact, the tire tracks from the crime scene matched none of the cars she owned; no DNA was a match and she had an alibi. There was literally NO physical evidence against her.
She was convicted because she was a lesbian?! I mean seriously? 1999 and they're pointing fingers like they're in Salem, accusing people of being witches. It's quite unbelievable.
