I have watched this show from the very first episode. I LOVE every one of those girls. The moms are a bit crazy, but they love their kids. I think watching the girls grow up has been a lot of fun.
If ANYONE thinks this show if "real" in any sense of the word, they are being fooled. No one would stay in business acting like Ms. Abbie. It is all for TV. Why do they list "writer" credits here on IMDb? Because it's all scripted.
I watch the created drama with a grain of salt. Laugh at Abbie's outbursts that are written by the writers, and LOVE watching these talented, polite, and kind girls dance. They truly seem to love each other. The Moms, well, there has to be drama and they say what they are told to say.
Anyone who thinks this show is real is sadly mistaken. It is a guilty pleasure of mine and would not miss season 5 since I have been watching all these years. The girls are growing up wonderfully.
