WFM 2.0 upgrade in 2010 works... Better to come?
21 December 2010
In a genre of television, monopolized by one particular program, the 2010-2011 season of World's Funniest Moments shows lots of potential as a home-video show contender. Season 2 brings an all new flavor, replacing solo act Arsenio Hall from Season 1 with an ensemble of new talent, good writing and segment production, and just some good ol' fun and laughs!

Kind of like a cavalcade, the presentation is shared by several personalities, with main emcees Erik Estrada and Laura McKenzie. Chris and Kyle Massey (Zoey 101 and That's So Raven, respectively) refresh the hosting duties with funny stunts during the episode, including silly competitive games with the audience. Additional video challenges, where contestants can win money (like convincing random people to adopt a live swarm of bees), also make for some very hilarious moments. Too funny!

Live television + taped home videos + reality TV games = well-rounded, interactive, reality television show. I see lots of potential here with their current formula, but this valiant effort has only one exception to its goodness. World's Funniest Moments sometimes plays outdated recycled clips (like the girl falling face-first on the treadmill from 2-3 years ago). Because they sometimes define themselves as a viral video show (and viral videos are often already replayed and become stale quickly), it's one of those necessary things to showcase recent clips that have not yet met their expiration date. I am certain that if they could afford to acquire some fresh videos, this WFM upgrade could be solid gold.

Disappointment is a mild term... This movie is unacceptable!
22 May 2008
Don't watch this movie.... Don't watch this movie... Don't watch this movie. This movie will ruin any intimate relationship you've ever had for any Indy adventure, good or bad. It's plain and simply the worst, by several lengths from any of your worst Indy adventures. It should be forgotten like the Star Wars Holiday Special. It serves no other use but to emit disgust for your beloved serial. If you've never seen a bad Spielberg flick, you certainly will have.

By the end of the film, I felt like Lucas and Spielberg defecated in my eyes, stole 10 bucks from my wallet, and ran away laughing prankishly. How could you do this to your audience? I really want to forget this one. I really do. I hope my comment will keep you from experiencing the same horrors.

Splinter (I) (2006)

A cool trip through the ghetto. Leave your spinal taps at home.
22 November 2006
Lost among millions of Hollywood flicks and translations of life in the barrio, urban thriller fiction and urban friction have never been translated and amalgamated into a digestible and acceptable product until the conception of Splinter. In the footsteps of its successful filmic predecessors "Ghost World," "History of Violence," or possibly "The Walking Dead," one might consider this to be another wonderful comic book/graphic novel come to life. However, not quite manufactured into an actual tangible book like its famed literal leaders, Dark Horse Films (Sin City, HellBoy) along with director Michael Olmos give life to an inner-city story that follows the conventions of traditional story telling in movies, but flesh out the skeletal in such a purposeful and personal way as to entrap us in the confusion that binds all of its characters. Entwined in a lysergic and cathartic weave, everyone, actors and audience members alike, will find themselves trying to escape from the volatile streets of Paradise Gardens and Greenville Heights acid-mimetic tirade. Supported by such talents as Sizemore, Olmos, Almeida, Gugliemi, Atis, Rivera, and Cypress Hill, you'll want to bring the homies Dusty, Trigger, and Happy along for the "trip." You betta axe somebody!...

New Concepts for a Great Movie- Not intended for the vegetable-minded
19 February 2005
Let me begin with a suggestion for those people who are looking for the same flotsam film dressed in a different skin -- this movie is NOT for you, my empty-headed comrades. If you are ready to introduce yourself to a new story and a great movie, take this review seriously and venture into the scripting talent of co-writers Garth Ennis and Jamie Delano and the directorial influence of Francis Lawrence. Keanu Reeves usual monotone in his acting and voice suit this morose character well. Prepare yourself... This is not just any motion picture, like that mundane movie you're dished on the daily. Open wide... Absorb and chew on the concepts being presented, and you will have the fortune to savor what is one of the most mind-rousing realities and awe-inspiring impressions of dark fantasy pinnacles to date. This is one of those print to celluloid graphic-novelization translations that actually got it right... Watch it and enjoy!

Extraordinary amalgamation of music and comedy
8 June 2002
I don't know if a more excellent blend of 1960's Mexican Rock 'n' Roll and remarkable actors exists. With stars like Javier Solis, Rosa Maria Vasquez, Leonorilda Ochoa, Eleazar "Chelelo" Garcia, and Raul Astor, the movie guarantees to keep you entertained. Unlike like other flicks, its more than just a humorous spectacle; it is a well crafted machine. The movie has earned it's "Classic" title, and not merely because of age. The movie is a work of higher caliber, and one of enduring significance. Experience it.
