Ghajini (2008)
A Pretty Big Surprise
A remake of 2005's Tamil movie of the same name and the same director. I have to say, I was pretty surprised watching this. But there were a lot of things that didn't seem right. The beginning kind of rushed by me. I really didn't see continuity between scenes. And honestly, I got bored pretty fast. Though, I enjoyed the way they used diaries to go back into the main character's life.
Aamir Khan played both his character's really well (I'm saying both because he had different personalities throughout the film). I'm sure that if this movie didn't star him, it would have received less praise. I think he seemed to over-act, though. Him being my favorite actor, I can't really say anything bad about him. But I didn't like him in this movie as much as I thought I might have. In some scenes, I kind of got disappointed.
Asin is a pretty good actress. Normally, to me, actresses who make a debut in Hindi cinema with a co-star who's very experienced don't seem to appeal to me. But Asin did a really good job. In some scenes, I liked her better than Aamir Khan and I think the main reason is because she played the same character before in 2005's Tamil Ghajini.
I saw Nishabd (which I really didn't like) and Jiah Khan just didn't seem like a good actress. In this movie, I was kind of shown otherwise. I think she is able to become a great actress. But right now, she just needs some practice. She did portray her character well in this movie but I thought that she was kind of fading into the background.
I really did not like the use of slow motion and special effects. There was just too much of that. It really made the scenes look over dramatic. And maybe that's why the actors seemed to be too over dramatic as well. I really wish that the ending could be explained better. How is Sanjay not dead or somewhat physically disabled after what Ghajini did to him at the end? I didn't like the ending. The soundtrack didn't appeal to me. There were only two songs out of the movie that I seemed to enjoy. I was looking forward to A.R Rahman's music and I was disappointed.
Do I recommend this movie? I guess. I mean, it's not that bad. But if you can get over the really horrible use of special effects, I'm sure you're going to enjoy it because it's a great story with pretty good actors.
God Tussi Great Ho (2008)
One word : Horrible.
This movie is horrible. A really bad version of "Bruce Almighty".
Salman is not a good actor. Maybe ten years ago he seemed somewhat appealing. But in every comedic role he plays now, he just seems to suck even more.
Priyanka Chopra was never meant to be an actress. She's beautiful, but a big mistake was committed when someone out there thought that models could act. I think she should have just stayed a model. In every movie I have seen that stars her, I'm always disappointed.
Sohail Khan? I didn't even know he was an actor until I saw this movie. He's even worse than his brother.
I just don't understand why Amitabh Bachchan signs up to play these horrible roles in cheap movies. He's so spectacular. Why doesn't anyone give him a good role in a good movie?
The soundtrack wasn't even nice. Rumi Jaffery, I think he didn't know what he was doing. Did he think that this movie was going to be good? I don't even know what kind of audience he aimed for.
Just not one of my favorite movies.
