Random Acts of Comedy (1999)
Loved this show
I loved this show. The cast was so quick on their feet... don't know how they did it. I went to a taping of the show with a friend and I thought for sure I would see them planning every scene before the cameras started but it wasn't the case. They were truly improving everything. I seem to remember most of the cast were also amazing singers, which I thought was very cool. The host, David Alan Grier was hilarious and seemed really nice during the commercial breaks. I thought the idea of making a game show out of improvised ideas was very clever. Sometimes I think the suggestions could have been a little more provocative but then again, it was supposed to be a family show.
Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (2003)
Funniest show I ever saw!
I became a huge fan of MXC the very first time I watched it. The jokes were hilarious, the physical impacts were brutal and the pacing was so fast. We would actually organize viewing parties at my college just to watch it. I went to Yale and we made up drinking games so every time Vic would say "indeed" or Guy would say "Guy like," we'd have to drink. I know it sounds lame but it was literally standing room only in our apartment when MXC was on. A whole group of us wanted to make a road-trip to Cali just to meet the cast and get their autographs. All I can say is, if Vic, Kenny, The Captain and Guy ever decide to do another show, I'll be the first one watching it!
Burt Luddin's Love Buffet (1999)
Needed another season
I discovered this series on GSN by chance. I thought the host, John Cervenka, was perfectly cast. I had actually scene him perform previously at the Groundlings theater and he was hilarious. The idea of seeing the backstage goings on of a gameshow was a very novel idea. I think if they had given it one more season to make some tweaks, it would have been really popular.
There were a couple episodes where they shot in La Vegas, which was very entertaining. I would have liked to see more location shooting. I also thought having the show air on GSN didn't help its ratings. If this had been on a channel like Comedy Central, it would have been a perfect fit.
