Watch Lone Survivor instead
13 August 2023
Had high hopes for this movie. Loads of positive reviews and eager anticipation but to me it just felt like a cheap remake of Lone Survivor.

Small yet relevant details are missing in this movie, such as the gleaming shiny brand new kit and weapons these "operators" have. The weapons aren't spray painted or even appear to be used. Clothing looks in mint condition.

And these guys have supposedly been in country for some time.... They all somehow manage to score critical shots (head shots) with ease too.

Why does the sniper not use his bipod but instead he uses a C-clamp (his hand) on his rifle? Especially when he conveniently found some cover to rest it on?

Neglect the details and you ruin a movie Rant over.

Not for millennials
16 February 2022
Firstly, I want to mention that this movie is nothing like the original Kingsman and the sequel movies.

I watched the first two when they came out and was not very impressed, especially with the second one.

This prequel is a wonderful experience of the times when people had pride and respect for themselves as well as others. Qualities which have become lost over the generations, rather than being passed down.

I am in my 30s, not some grumpy old man who likes to moan about today's youth, but I am a firm believer that manners never go out of fashion. Movies like this actually highlight these qualities.

I love the way the historical events were quite accurate, yet slightly tweaked to allow the characters to be present at the important events. Very well conceived by the director. Some references which tie in to the original movies were also well placed.

Fiennes was impeccable (that's not to say the rest of the cast wasn't... they were equally as good)!

I would consider this a stand-alone Kingsman movie, it should keep well clear of "Eggsy" and the millennial mobs of the first two films. If you rate the first two movies highly, then you probably won't like this one.

Actually pretty good!
16 August 2021
I have to say, as a 37 year old guy, Disney isn't my thing. But for some reason I found myself very intrigued by this movie. Initially when I saw the adverts I thought it was going to be another Jumanji but decided to give it a try anyway.

I found myself glued to the movie and cracking up more than expected! The Rock and Emily Blunt bounce off each other really well! The supporting actors are quite funny too. Even Jack Whitehall who I'm not a massive fan of normally.

If you have a spare couple of hours and want a lighthearted giggle, definitely give this flick a go!

Far better than the low rating
15 February 2021
It's not going to win an Oscar, but it's not an awful movie. I think the people who enjoy this can probably relate to a character which leads me to think it's the slightly more mature audience. Those who rated it low probably enjoy crap like Gods of Egypt. Enough said. Sit back, relax, and don't take it too seriously. Enjoy the gorgeous views of Bora Bora

Viewers Perceptions
20 September 2020
I've watched this mini series a couple of times now, and I've probably enjoyed it more with each viewing. Yes, it may seem gruesome, and boring , crude and etc. but that is the reality of life at war. Which is why I support this series as being a close portrayal of how it is/was. Please bear this in mind before watching it and slating it for being slow and not very exciting.

Cracks me up every time
9 July 2020
I can only assume the people leaving low ratings and negative reviews don't have a sense of humour! This is easily a 6 or a 7 in my opinion. I've seen it a few times and it always makes me laugh! I'm not sure how people don't find it funny. Just the boy band/man band scenes alone crack me up. And there's plenty more where that came from. Watch it and decide for yourself and don't let the negative reviews put you off. Especially if you enjoy Will Ferrell or Rob Riggle movies. That'll give you some idea of what you're getting into! :D

Read the book instead
12 February 2019
I had high hopes for this movie but was sadly let down. Too many cheesy Hollywood cliches surrounding Chris Hemsworth. The guy is overrated and his accent annoyed the hell out of me throughout the entire movie.

The storyline was also kinda thin, albeit interesting, so I bought the book and read that. It gives a much more detailed account of the story and background of the Northern Alliance as well as much more info about the soldiers' time in Afghanistan and what they went through.

My advice; watch the movie to wet your appetite and then read the book to satisfy the craving.
