Revolver (2005)
8/10
Guy Ritchie's most ambitious movie
21 September 2023
After the release of the films Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, which brought Ritchie success not only in his homeland, but also in Hollywood, he decides to make "Revolver".

Here we see a different picture in contrast to his previous works! In Revolver, there is a semantic load, and just a semantic load, with an enormous amount of complexity, compared to all his previous works. You seem to be watching a movie and understand everything, but no, a minute passes and all your speculations go down the drain! Guy wanted to overload the viewer and he more than succeeded! Each character in the film is simply unique, each person has his own move on the chessboard! Chess plays a big role here, because the film is built on chess moves, which are so clearly thought out by Jake Green (Jason Statham), who wants to take revenge on Dorothy Machu (Ray Liotta). But no, not that kind of banal revenge! This revenge will be much worse than any physical torture! He takes moral revenge, taking out the brain, destroying Dorothy from the inside, devouring his pride, instilling primitive fear in him! Dorothy begins the hunt for Jake Green, but it all ends in complete failure, while Green feeds on his fears.

Greene begins to pull off one case after another, while Dorothy's affairs are getting worse and worse! It is impossible to describe the whole essence of the film here. I can't understand why the critics trampled the film, not to mention the sad disastrous box office. I would like to mention the character of the Recycler (Mark Strong) - Mark Strong played this role brilliantly!

A really strong movie overall!
