Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Spock Amok (2022)
Had me laughing the entire episode.
Yesss this episode is definitely filler. And people don't like filler. But honestly sometimes filler is good. Gives more character development and delves deeper into relationship between each character.
Love the T'pring and Spock swap. Both actors did a phenomenal job.
Una and La'an scenes were just plain old fun and goofiness. Light-hearted and entertaining. You do start to see the softer human side of La'an this episode instead of her typical uptight side.
Nurse chapel such a charismatic character. Literally had chemistry with every other crew member.
The episode itself didn't really move the story forward. But it definitely showed more of each character in the crew.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow (2023)
Strong acting but...
I love the actress who plays La'an. Acting is superb from the writing that's given to her.
I don't know if is just me but the relationship between her and Kirk felt forced... Didn't feel natural. Not that cause it breaks the timeline. Just don't feel the chemistry between the 2 characters.
Also was Kirk always portrayed like this Kirk in the episode? I don't remember him being so goofy and not-kirk like.
The story in this episode is there. Not bad. But just the way that relationship between the 2 characters seem so sudden and forced. Didn't really match the rest of the story the writers r trying to tell.
There had to be some other way to show us La'an softer, vulnerable side. Not a fan how it was done in this episode.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Subspace Rhapsody (2023)
Didn't know I needed a musical episode
I'm not usually a fan of musicals, but this episode had me laughing all the way through.
You can feel the cast had fun and enjoyed the singing. Sure most of the cast aren't professional singers but honestly they all did pretty good with their parts.
La'an song was really deep and touching. Really reflected how she felt inside. I always felt her and Kirk's relationship was quite forced in the tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow episode. Still not a fan of that.
Loved captain Pike's and Marie's Song. Couldn't stop laughing.
Glad the writers took risks and wrote this episode. It was fun! Hoping season 3 will have risky episodes like this.
Bishôjo senshi Sêrâ Mûn Crystal (2014)
Worth a watch still.
I grew up watching the 90s sailor moon Japanese version with eng sub. Yes that series had alot of filler but it helped with character development of the side characters.
This new series has really nice graphics, the upgraded action scenes etc. The pacing is a bit too fast for me. Everything seemed so rushed. However the story is a tad bit better than the 90s since there no filler.... Another thing I feel it's missing is the in depth character development of EACH character. It doesn't have that 'umph' like the original. Nor does it have heart like the 90s one.
Personally I prefer the 90s anime better but crystal is still worth the watch.
The Marvels (2023)
Just Mid.
This movie honestly isn't as bad as the reviews say it is. I enjoyed it, I had fun and was generally entertained for the 100 mins.
There are some weird editing/cuts that make the pacing and flow very choppy.
The fight scenes definitely remind me of FF7 advent children. That was fun to watch, the fight scenes were fun to watch.
Since end game there hasn't really been an MCU movie that was just plain fun & entertaining. This movie does just that, no need to be hyper-focused on following the multiverse stuff etc.
Captain marvel would of been great if Marvel/Disney knew what they were doing with her character. Had a plan waaay back in phase 2 instead of shoehorning her character in the last minute of phase 3. Sad the 3 leads had to work with such a weak script....
What If...?: What If... Kahhori Reshaped the World? (2023)
What?
What does this have to do with the current cast of the MCU? Another Disney political agenda episode that elevates the female character with no actual story/character development.
Yea I get it, she is from a village and wanted to do good for her people/protect her brother etc blah blah but what internal conflict is there? There isn't much character development.... No character flaws whatsoever.... Nothing to really overcome internally as a character....
The war? That's just another plot device to MOVE kahori character to the direction of being just OP. She literally another Cap. Marvel.
The graphics is nice though. That's all this episode got.
Ahsoka (2023)
Overall good, not great, could be better.
Overall as a Rebels and Clone wars fan I enjoyed the series. Appreciated the call backs to both animated series.
However there are a few things I didn't like. Lightsaber stab... could of just made shin knock her out against a wall and cause some head injury etc.
Sabine being force sensitive needs to be rewritten completely. Poorly executed.
Ezra and Sabine should of had the talk about what she did in either episode 6 or 7. The show literally brushed over that and forgotten about that entire issue.
I am however excited to see what comes next I'm the Filoni verse. I love seeing mortis gods being incorporated. Loving this mythology and lore being explored.
The music from Kevin Kiner was EPIC. Honestly this shows music has been magnificent. Even better than Mandalorian music.
All in all I can look passed the flaws and writing and still enjoyed the show. Been a long time since I been excited for more star wars content. 8/10.
