Fish Out of Water (2005)
Comedy drama
"Fish out of Water" is a comedy drama about a man who loses a solitary comfortable commute. He always rows a boat so he can avoid rush hour. But
one day a beautiful woman approaches him. And the number of people getting on the boat increases day by day. I think the facial expressions of the actor and the comical music make this film even more interesting. I can understand his growing frustration. It is hilarious how his quiet commute becomes more noisy as more people get on. It will be interesting to see how he finally regains a comfortable commute. His unique ideas will make you laugh. After watching this film, you might get some tips for a comfortable commute. "Fish out of water" is really worth seeing. This work teaches us the importance of being unconventional.
Lifted (2006)
Funny story
"Lifted" is a comedy about an alien who takes an exam to operate a machine. Alien keeps trying to take a human outside but he surely makes a mistake. He feels nervous because his boss checks his ability to use machines. I think many people feel nervous because his expression looks very uncomfortable. However, at the same time you will find it very funny, because he is so bad at using machines. Despite this, human continues to
sleep and never wake up. I don't understand why he doesn't wake up, but I think it is hilarious. Another unique feature is that the machines seem so difficult to operate. I don't know how to operate a machine that just has sticks lined up. "Lifted" is really worth seeing. This film is very unique and will make you feel happy.
J'attendrai le suivant... (2002)
Good acting and an interesting story line
"I'll Wait For The Next One" seems like a comedy, but some people may feel sad after watching this short film. The main character is always looking for a special someone. This can be seen from the scene where she envies a couple she saw at the station. Then, she is on the train and she encounters a man who is looking for a lover just like her. The ending of this short film is very funny and well done. But at the same time, you may feel sorry for her. And although this film has dialogue, the woman who is the main character does not speak a single word. You can read everything about her feelings from her facial expressions and actions. This film has very good acting and an interesting story line. You may enjoy this film and it is really worth seeing.
Otousan no tabako (2007)
Family love story
"Oto-san no tabako" is a family love story. A daughter looks for cigarettes for her father. But her father is sick and she knows that smoking is bad
for his health. She is very hesitant but she can't refuse her father's request. I feel very sad because I can understand both the daughter's feelings and her father's feelings. The daughter doesn't want to buy cigarettes for her father's health. However, her father is sick and he wants to smoke while he can. The daughter decides to buy cigarettes, but fails. And she does all kinds of things to get cigarettes. I am moved by a daughter who repeatedly tried to get cigarettes for her father. You also can see her deep love for her father. This film is really worth
seeing. After watching it you may think about your own family.
Three Days in Kamakura (2012)
A lonely but warm story
"Three Days in Kamakura" is a family love story. A British man who marries a Japanese woman is discriminated against by his neighbor because he is a foreigner. I felt that he and his wife felt even more isolated by not being able to have children. This story is sad, but there is also love for family within it. I am moved by the way the husband and wife care for each other. When I hear the word family, I think of children, but I realized that people can be a family even without children. Additionally, the scenes of Japan in this film make me feel very nostalgic. You may like it too. "Three Days in Kamakura" is really worth seeing. I want you to experience the mysterious feeling of loneliness and warmth when you watch this film.
The Lunch Date (1989)
The Lunch Date Review
"The Lunch Date" is a film about relationships. A white woman who is prejudiced against black people misses a train. She goes to a restaurant
to wait for the next train. She orders salad and she leaves her table to get a fork. However, when she returns, a black man is eating her salad. She feels uncomfortable but the man brings coffee for her. She later realizes that it is all her own misunderstanding and the man isn't to blame. I think many people, not just this woman, are unconsciously biased. The audience will initially sympathize with the woman, but in the end they will sympathize with the man. "The Lunch Date" is worth seeing. This film is a good opportunity for me to face my own prejudices.
Two Strangers Who Meet Five Times (2017)
Interesting story
"Two Strangers Who Meet Five Times" is an everyday human story. The two men meet five times without even realizing it. Alistair is racist, which causes him to fall into poverty. The other man, Sammy, is treated with discrimination, but he is a wealthy man. The two men lead completely
different lives. I think this story depicts how a discriminatory man changes. The scene where they first meet reveals why he is discriminatory. When they meet for the fifth time, the audience realize
that he is not the same person he was before. I feel that people's values are easily influenced by those around them and change. "Two Strangers Who
Meet Five Times" is really worth seeing. This film may not only move you, but may also teach you something important.
Love at First Sight (2010)
Beautiful love story
"Love at First Sight" is a love story. One day, Arthur falls in love with an old lady in a retirement home. Her name is Ruth and she is a new member of that facility. Arthur speaks to her and they become friends. After spending the day together, Arthur asks Ruth to marry him. This story is beautiful, but you may feel sad when you know the truth. At the same time, your heart will be warmed by the kindness of the people around Arthur and Ruth. Their love is possible with the support of the people
around them. And we also learn that Arthur's love for Ruth is true. I can not help but wish them happiness. "Love at First Sight" is really worth seeing. This film contains a lot of people's kindness.
Knick Knack (1989)
Interesting story development
"Knick Knack" is a comedy about a snowman who wants to go outside the snow globe. There are many figurines outside the snow globe and he wants to meet them. He tries all kinds of things but none of them work. This short film has no dialogue. However, we can enjoy the story's development through effective sounds and the snowman's facial
expressions and movements. His attempt to escape from the snow globe surprises us and makes us laugh. The story is not complicated, so even young children will enjoy watching it. You may feel happy watching this short film. "Knick Knack" is very worth seeing. The movie itself is short at about three minutes, but it contains many elements and is very fulfilling.
Father and Daughter (2000)
Heartwarming story
"Father and Daughter" is a sad story about a girl who wants to meet her father. When the woman is a young girl, she parts with her father. She never
forgets her father and she often visits the place where she met her father last time. There is no dialogue in this movie. However, the sound of the
bicycle is used effectively to express her feelings. But this is not just a sad story. We can understand that even though she can no longer see her father, there is always a father in the daughter's thoughts. This is also a story about family love. After watching this film, you will feel both sadness and warmth. I'm sure you will be thinking about your family. Father and Daughter" is really worth seeing. I hope that many people will see this work and empathize with it.
