Joker (2019)
Not a 1, but I need to balance out the 10's
It's not a 10 like so many robo-reviews would lead you to believe.
No movie is a 10, not even Goodfellas (and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Goodfellas). I would watch Goodfellas over and over again, but it's still not a 10.
My rating 5 or 6. (well made, marginally entertaining)
Marketing; I had to see this movie alone since the marketing machine behind the movie ('this movie might insight violence in the streets') - good job at keeping the wife away.
Jacqueline Phoenis; I liked him better in Clay Pigeons, but he did a good job here (not Oscar worthy, but a good job). His dancing was cool/weird too - just not cool/weird enough to watch again.
Oh, so the movie was a decent character study, sort of like a family drama. I'm nod sure of the 'era' 30's, 70's (it had a bid of both, after all Bruce Wayne was still a child in this one).
Still not sure what to make of it.
DON'T believe the hype.
Would I ever watch this movie movie again: short answer, NO; long answer NO.
Was it terrible no, was it watchable, as a family drama: barely.
I recommended this to my friend, he's into family dramas.
The Thick of It (2005)
Incessant use of Shakycam - DO NOT WATCH if you suffer from motion sickness
I tried, I really tried to watch this show. I purchased the entire series (thankfully at a substantial discount), but I was unable to watch more than 15 minutes of the show.
Oh, the 1 star rating is only because I COULDN'T continue to watch. (As others have mentioned, it is probably a BRILLIANT show), BUT.....
It was EXTREMELY disappointing to me because it seemed that the show was very well written (at least the first 15 minutes was), BUT, as mentioned by others I couldn't continue to watch due to the UNNECESSARY INCESSANT use of shaky cam. I started to feel nauseous at the 15-minute mark. I'm generally not queasy, but this was too much for me. I thought it would have stopped after about 5 minutes, but alas, my hopes were dashed (and apparently, according to other reviewers, it NEVER ends)
I think there should be a behind-the-scenes show about what the hell was going on with the people holding the cameras. Were they disabled, drunk, highly medicated, or challenged in some other way. I'm really, really interested, and it would be way-too-cool if it were discovered that they were some sort of mentally challenged group who managed to film so many episodes. I really want to know, it seems at least that they didn't let the viewing angles go to ground as I have done on so many late Saturday nights in my attempts to film something.
The fact that this group of filmmakers completed so many episodes of an apparently well written show should compel some producers to offer them more projects with the caveat that they include TRIPODS or other camera MOUNTS in their budget to really harness their perspective on the subject matter.
HUGELY DISSAPPOINTED (but hoping for the behind-the-scenes series)
Someone suggested the use of Dramamine to prevent motion sickness prior to viewing this series. I'm not big on medication, but if I ever do run out of everything else in the world to watch, I might consider it.
Time Lapse (2014)
Enjoyable, BUT.....Paradox too far fetched
The paradox in the movie is that at THIS moment in time, I do not know what will happen in the future.
If I post results from any contest, such as lottery results, or horse race, NOW, then it has already happened; it has PAST. To enable me to predict future events, I would need access to those events, such as TOMORROWS newspaper NOW.
Since I don't have that, ANYTHING I do now will not produce the desired results; that would just simply be prognostication; i.e., "I want dog x to win the race".
The premise of the movie is wrong. The only way I could post results of an event in the future is if I know them beforehand (jump to the future, get results, and then jump back – something like that). This is not what was happening in the movie.
They protagonists see the future photo, thinks it's some kind of omen and they feel compelled to 'pose' for the camera in the exact positions or they will perish. That's it.
Even when they don't consciously 'stage' the contents of the photo, the contents of the photo-of-the-future is still an accurate reflection of the moment. So, the photo-of-the-future proves to be an accurate glimpse into the future, nothing more. Certain events in the future cannot be controlled without knowing the future.
Yes, we can prepare for the future in the hopes of desired outcomes, but that's a whole other topic.

Hated it - just because I really did
Hated it - just because I really did
Well, no, not really. The lead is quite believable, but I have to give it 1 star just to offset the incredible amount of people who think this is a 10. It's more like a 4-5 movie, straight-to-video I would imagine.
The only reason I am writing this is because I forced myself to finishing watching until 2 in the morning and it just wasn't that good.
Yay! Katharine Isabelle! - Nice job, crappy movie.
Action was decent, but laughable.
This may be a great movie for law enforcement. I'm not in law enforcement, and I don't own any firearms, but I'm fairly certain that if I did I wouldn't be in a fire-fight in any manner of how these individuals acted with a gun in their hand. Totally laughable!
Story line was convoluted at best. Some flashbacks, dark scenes, it seemed like there were two or three timeless, but they were not effective in anyway except to account for lack of plot.
Speaking of a lack of plot, there were too many songs which were supposed to bridge over lulls in the plot. (Always a bad thing in any movie, music can enhance, songs are used in lieu of a plot). (It can be done, it's just very difficult)
So, after all that, I changed my mind 3/10, but still 1/10 to add balance to the rating.
oh, one more thing; I have no idea what Christopher Lloyd was saying most of the time (bad sound or he just mumbled a lot, I'm not sure).
