Luka Chuppi (2019)
Comedy with wickedly good comedic timing
From beginning to end a well crafted comedy mixing social and political issues without making it heavy nor silly. The two main actors were a joy to behold, but the hidden gems were all the side characters and strong running jokes. Seriously great movie making here!
13 Reasons Why (2017)
I don't see any reason for season 2, much less three
The first season was strong and so compelling. The second was unnecessary.
Love, Rosie (2014)
The only reason I was able to stomach this, was because I attempted watching First Daughter before
Yes, that's correct, the only reason I was able to stomach this vomit of a plot, was my frail attempt at watching First Daughter and stopping at the Pool Scene.
In comparison, this movie spearheaded by the lovely Lily Collins was a treat but not deserving anything more than 3 stars.
A Very Merry Mix-Up (2013)
Look how Foxy my grandmother was ...
This movie's plot is very much alike to While-You-Were-Sleeping, unfortunately a bit less believable. Yet I shouldn't complain, this is Hallmark, and that's the reason why I watched it. I do however belief this movie has too many cringe-worthy moments such as Matt pointing out his grandmother was such a fox! Or the cookie frosting lip "accident". Overall the movie had much more potential seeing as the lead actress, Alicia Witt, is actually very believable. Her fiancée too delivered a great performance as a horrible business person. I would have preferred another ending. Matt not coming to look for her, but meeting her by surprise (grocery shopping). Her disappointment with (Will) ending in a break-up, and Matt visiting her in NYC a few weeks later. However that would mean it wouldn't be Christmas anymore.
Last Summer (2013)
Hipsters gone wild
The theme was interesting and somewhat different (e.g. no coming out, no hating families nor any drama related to coming out, nor any sudden death).
Yet, it could have been so much more. Instead we get images, beautiful images, but no real grasp. If it were a short, of about 30 minutes, it would have been great. However, 1h and 13 minutes is nothing else than hipsters gone wild.
The best scene was when Jonah, the alleged genius, makes his mom cry. Very real, and touching. The last 5 minutes showed peace of mind from the main actor, and a resolution. There was a clear end, and it was well done.
