Keeps getting better and better
5 August 2016
I'm not gonna say it started as a big let down, because it wasn't at all. It was pretty good in many points: the soundtrack was "decent", the drawing trying to appeal to Naoko's originals were a nice update, also many background drawings were pretty nice. The hit also the right button by trying to keep make up sequences. The 2 things most of fans don't like and I kinda agree with them are: personalities (too weak, too little time on screen many of them) and 3D effects that didn't belong to the style. But they improved a lot going from 2nd arc (equivalent to SM R old series) to 3rd arc (INFINITY, SM S in the old series), then 3D was relegated to only exceptional cases, so make up sequences got really smooth, nice drawn, the look really really nice now, cannot complain. Sometimes the tone of the series gets dramatic, even EPIC, not gonna throw away any spoiler, but many but 2 or 3 moments surpassed old series level of execution, they passing, the personality threats, the time on screen got all better. So, to sum up I can say ARC 1 & 2 (SM SMR) were decent, while ARC3 "INFINITY" was AWESOME, better than the original in many points. Hope DREAMS gets even better.

One of the best movies in Argentina, tough and touching
11 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Since I am in fact Argentinian, maybe you can say is not right to take me serious. But, forgetting about the historical facts, this is such a PERFECTLY developed film. I'm gonna go just through ''film facts''. The complexity of the characters are so perfectly well portrayed by really talented actors and actresses (Norma Aleandro and Hector Alterio both go beyond the roles, outstanding performances). They start like a regular middle aged marriage of the epoch pretty much. But they grow up and change alongside the plot and story. The changes while story goes on are not forced and they are actually very well developed. The music, quiet and nice, but with that sense of ''something bad going on beneath'' is perfect. Spoiler part (kind of) --- What surprised me was in fact the complexity of the characters, and the slight changes while you dig into the story inside the story. The characters go from a friends regular talk, then laughs, then hysterical crying, in a matter of seconds! And totally believable! Then at the end of the movie both Alterio and Aleandro going through the breakdown, in just a second you feel so sorry for her and he becomes so hateful. Then he cries listening to his ''daughter'', and you feel also sorry for him! Just in a matter of seconds! And not to forget... the dialog, the script are one better than the other, and the list goes on and on. When he says in the airport ''don't think about it... just don't think'' and you think about the avoiding and the ''censorship'' in this one phrase. Or how about ''how does it feel not knowing where you daughter is?'' Splendid. Script: 10/10 Characters: 10/10 Music: 7/10 Camera and shots: 6/10 (the weakest point of the movie to be honest, but don't you worry, you won't even notice if you don't pay attention that much).

Well done. Just... well done.

Great Job Campanella!
23 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
If I do not put a 10/10 is because of the subtle animation errors, for example the explosion. Aside of that, THE MOVIE IS AMAZING! I don't know where to start reviewing. If you watched The Secret in Their Eyes, you'll remember the camera angles Campanella is capable of. I've never seen so much dynamism in a foosball game before, the one where Amadeo is playing, and you see the ball going back and forth, by the ball angle! It's amazing, you never get tired and it's just a foosball game! Not to mention when foosball players come to life, one better than the other. All pretty memorable and likable. The style in the character design is great too. Specially in the players as well. The history background, while subtle, was great and well managed. The soundtrack... I only matched it to some action moments in Toy Story... was I really matching an Argentinian movie to a Disney mega-production? Yes, I was. And I'll do it again if I hear it again. Because is amazing, perfect, so good. I'm not so committed to national stuff, but this one is... out of words. I remember just one thing from that July 18th at cinema... every time a goal was scored in movie kids cheered it as it was a real match they were watching. I wanted to cry so bad. Thanks Campanella for helping our emotions to grow! Thank you so much.

Life of Pi (2012)
8/10
An Outstanding Work Of Art
11 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
When I went to watch this movie, of course in 3D in the big screen, I just knew it was gonna be brilliant. And it was. In fact is the first time I can tell the 3D effect accomplishes what 3D effects are meant to accomplish: To involve you even more in the movie... I've read out there in Metacritic a guy saying ''you don't watch this movie, you just live it'' and that's what I felt exactly. In many cases, like the storms, the whale and many others I felt so involved in the movie I could almost touch things! The storm was perfect, one of the best storms put in film. So... effects in this movie are just PERFECT. Period. It really worths the 3D. Acting is also very pleasant and nice. The 3 actors playing the role of Pi are amazing. They've got the essence of the character perfectly. Sometimes I even forgot I was watching 3 different performances. The side characters, while not as important as Pi... are so nice and likable too. Really got involved with the family, very realistic. The romance with the girl was subtle but really nice. In this case I can add Ang Lee really knows how to tell the story... I mean, it was a book before, so Ill give credit to the actual writer. But talking about the movie... they never stay so much in the things they're not the focus. The focus is the Life Of Pi, which I can tell, I just loved how resumed is the title, it tell everything in the movie without saying anything at all. That's what a good title should tell by start. The art, again, outstanding. They really deserve that cinematography Oscar. Scenes are unbelievable, you can see they decisions they made in every single case... they were in everything. Talking about the bas stuff, just a little, maybe the CGI was obvious in some cases... you could tell whenever the Tiger was real or CGI. But it was subtle, I guess it's OK anyway. The music was really delightful, what disappointed me a bit is the lack of personality in this... I mean i remember is kinda ''epic-Indian music'' I remember the flutes... but nothing more. Don't get me wrong, is really nice to hear and follows perfectly the story, but is not memorable. You can hear this kind of themes in a lot of Indian based stories... when I knew they won an Oscar for the soundtrack... I though I would here something really memorable, like that melodies that stick hard to your mind. But it was good anyway. A really amazing tale, epic some times, lovely. It reminds me a lot of the Big Fish. It doesn't matter the story, at the end you decide what to believe. And believe me and go to check this one out! In 3D if possible!

It could be pretty better but I really enjoyed it
9 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I have to state that I've read a lot of reviews for this movie in Metacritic and this place as well, that was not promising really. Also when I found the director was Sam Raimi (Spider Man) I felt really disappointed as well. Even though I decided to give it a chance, because I liked the cast (I know James Franco is not the best actor, but he did so good in 127 hours...)... Well, I really enjoyed this one, I know he doesn't reach the charm of the original 1939 classic, but it was a good prequel. James did a decent work... sometimes he was lack of the emotion required and sometimes I found him maybe over the top... but not so much and I enjoyed him anyway. He didn't distract me from the plot with his performance. The art in this movie, the mate painting, the CG (specially in the little porcelain doll) was incredible amazing. The world of Oz was so fantastic. Clever idea to work in the first part of the movie in full screen and B&W... then turn it to wide screen and color. Of course the idea comes from the original, it was a good move. The music, loved it. Love Danny Elfman, I was kinda disappointed anyway at this point. I feel wherever I hear Elfman's soundtrack I know is good, I feel it, but he doesn't reach the top, what makes a soundtrack memorable. The music for the music box... was incredible. Reminded me to a timeless circus, a fair like it was, an epic tale and fantastic story all together. If Elfman just worked all around that single theme... It have been a perfect PERFECT soundtrack. The rest of the cast... I enjoyed Mila Kunis when she was like a little girl in love at the first part of the movie, he looked like he never been with a men before, and felt enchanted with all that Oz did with her... maybe she needed more emotion when her heart was broken... it was believable, but if she have taken it far... would be perfect. Rachel did OK, can't complain but not so memorable. I loved Michelle Williams as Glinda, so charming and always believing and giving that ray of hope, that makes her the Good Witch. SO... resuming... it could be a lot lot lot better movie, but for what we've got is a fair decent prequel, with good moments, clever ideas, and outstanding art and music.

The best of the saga, epic finale!
19 July 2011
The best of the saga. How can I say as a Harry Potter freak? Well, not a freak for real, but more or less this. The final is epic, and the characters are developed right to them top... maybe I still can say Harry is not well enough played by Dan Radcliffe but it still good and he improved a lot. Great scenes from Alan Rickman (one of the best in my opinion). Deep and tender, even sad story from him, of course it comes from Rowling. But still good. Also the battles, every each and single little one is epic, and shows what each wizard is capable to do for real. You have not to think anymore, now you have the proves. Maggie Smith, epic too. TOO EPIC, the best of the best!

Much more than a special effects movie
5 May 2011
At first... when my boyfriends asked me to go to see this movie, both of us though ''I think is just another action, special effects and so on movie, but at least, it'd be entertaining''. Then, our theory broke down... I mean the sightseeing of Asgard it's not just effects, it's WOW! Then the story starts... normally, with a ''supposly to be'' hero, his kingdom, then he's taken to Earth... and you think is just a strange guy on a strange place... but is not just like that. We have a lot of funny things here, the guy is not just ''bad and arrogant and period'', he's more complex, like a person is. This is what a lot of heroes movie don't have. The bad guy is not only bad, and is not only a matter of revenge what takes him out of control. There's a lot of facts that makes him do what he does. CHARACTERS: 7 So... the characters are deeper than any hero character, and they have more than 1 simple and chic-heed explanation to do everything the do, and to feel everything they feel. EFFECTS: 9 So impressive, gorgeous, outstanding...!! I won't spoil it for you... it has no sense if you don't see it... STORYLINE: 7 Quite good for a hero standard movie, deep characters, good fight scenes, action, fluent relation lazes... believable story. Magic and imagination... epic love... tension... MUSIC: 6 It doesn't have enough identity for the movie, but it's really nice, and powerful!! It goes perfectly with the action that is happening!

More than expected
24 March 2011
Well, at first i though ''another naked warrior girls movie'' but this is way too far from my point of view. It's really great talking about effects, really good they are! The performance of the actresses is credible and well done. You know and believe they're suffering for something... and the trials to scape are really an effort for them. I think they have really good scenes, but in some parts they abused with that ''Matrix'' slow motion effect. But in all the other ways is really worthy to be seen. Is not only meant for men, but for everyone, because it has good performances, credible characters, almost perfect effects, really outstanding music (a lot of them are remixed songs, really gorgeous!) and a lot of action mixed with drama everywhere. Also... a ''really unexpected ending'' really... as tag line says ''you won't expect it'' =)

Not outstanding effects, but such a good storyline!
11 March 2011
Well... as a lot said before me, is not J.Cameron's version, but for a TV with a low budget movie, it has such a really good effects, credible, not ''marvellous'' but good enough to be nice at sight... the storyline is even more interesting than Oscar-winning TITANIC, because it has more than the ''rich girl and the poor boy love'', but a lot of stories, including historical people ones, like the John Jacob Astor and his wife story and the Allison's story, in fact are both true. And... not to spoiler you... we can add the fact that there is a lot of scenes really ''familiar'' to the people who has seen JC's Titanic... I mean... did JC take them for his motion picture? Who knows (we can suggest this but never the other way around because the first movie was the TV one). Adding more... the fact that the TITANIC have been damaged by losing her nails at the time the iceberg was hit by her is in fact a recently investigation and maybe it's even more possible than the holes explanation... things to think. Interesting movie. As a TITANIC history big fan I can say the music is outstanding, the scenes are really good, in fact as I said many of them taken and improved by J.Cameron. This movie is not about effect anyway, is about entertainment and storyline, and here we have both.

Super-mixture of Intensity-action-reality-details!
21 February 2011
A lot of action!! a lot of good well-performed shots and fights... credible, all of them based on little details, in fact this movie is about action and details, all the few details, even if they are almost invisible are what develop in a believable action scene! There's also scenes that take your breath away, like ''I cannot believe'' or ''wow, now I understand what he (Liam's character) really feels''... incredible, well-done and credible action scenes, well-chosen actors, and deep intense feelings about parents relations, families, incredibly disturbing images, but real, sadly, madly REAL! Good Job!! Not Oscar-winning movie, but a really good one... entertainment, excitement... , with a perseverance character which can go beyond everything to rescue what he loves the most...

Good Thriller, surprising end
19 February 2011
You all know because of the trailers that there's a man how is a doctor and travels to Gewrmany with his wife. Then there's a car accident, after then he remember who he is, but no one seem to know him, including his wife, and there's a new ''him'' replacing him. Then it gets kinda weird when you see the other woman related (Diane Kruger) telling something like ''you shouldn't be here'' of some kind of advice. You start to think it's more than a problem of memory... or whatever. Starting with this there's a lot of possibilities. Maybe he's crazy, maybe the've replaced him for something else, maybe not. Is in some way related to Flightplan starting with a daughter missing and people saying that she have never existed. You don't know what to think or where to take your mind to. If I said more I'd spoil it. So... you have the trailer, the idea and a relation with another movie. A good movie, with good visual effects, music, catching, perturbing... it has you always in action, waiting for something to happen, and then happens another thing, it doesn't give you a break, always running from someone of something else. Interesting ending, really good.

Our humanity, just like this
18 February 2011
By first... I was kinda reluctant to watch this movie, don't ask, because I dunno know why. Then I've watched it. Well, at first it looks like Elijah Wood (don't remember the character name right now) is just a really pathetic ''yankee'', who seems to be overprotected in his past... and of course, as you see, is a good person to mess with. Then it comes the part of discrimination from England guys, this kinda ''football gangsters'', a ''really not much helping'' sister, her ''arrogant'' and ''over-reacting'' England husband (well... Claire Forlani - the sister - is in fact English, not American, weird), and a poor young baby of them. In this general flash of the very beginning, you can see a weird movie. Then suddenly becomes interesting, you can see how pathetic is nationalism and racism in every each and single way, and makes you understand what it really is: a way of control. England vs. Northamerica, gangsters vs. other football gangs, friends betrayed... a lot of violence. It's good the message it leaves: not to trust anyone and not to mess with that people. But... at least, they are back for each other and stand when there's a challenge or a fight or whatever... what our ''yankee'' guy (don't misunderstand me, I'm not being racist, hate that word, I'm only emphasizing this word because of the movie itself) understands and learns how to protect himself and what real friendship means (another could be... the best friend is not who shares his room with you, could be... is who never leaves you alone)... good movie after all... what I need to say, because I noted quickly (as a lot of people...) is the credits... Elijah Wood is the ''well-known'' there... but he's the last actor to appear in the list... so... you know, you can note there the ''english nationalism''... hehe, ironic world. Don't take this review as a way of racism please, just intended to be realistic. Liked the movie anyway, of course. Well done, good story-telling, believable characters, believable suffering...

Only for Fans - Just that
13 February 2011
Believe me or not: Justin Bieber is not as much as another polemic singer made of what fans like nowadays. Some time ago was Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, a lot of time before it was Madonna... some other time Marilyn Monroe, you know, the ones who are controversial for each time in human evolution. At this point we have the same faces everywhere: Justin Bieber is one of them, like Hanna Montana, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are, in fact as far as I know many of them where ''hooked up'' with him some time. Believe me when I say: I don't follow the trends. But... you want it or not you'll suffer this again and again and again... if it's not Justin, there'll be another replacement for him. In the times to come is gonna be another you'll love or hate, but a trend who we all stop by for a little of our lives... I cannot say anything else without being subjective. If is this what you want I can say I hate him. Doesn't look sincere, and of course a movie doesn't tell anybody the whole and cruel truth as it really was/is, whatever. If you're a fan, you'll love it. If not, don't waste your money going to see what you know is gonna be disappointing for you.

Unfair Critics
12 February 2011
Don't know why the critics said that this movie was bad-performed and clichéd... I've just seen it and... well, Anthony Hopkins is, whether you like or not, a machine-gun in your head shooting all the time. In this movie you have the possibility to see him in every role you can imagine: sad, happy, mad, good, bad, evil incarnated, the best of the angels of God... God himself... don't know... whatever you want, each kind of character in the same role... this is what I've expected from Anthony. This great jobs he made me get accustomed to. The new one star, Colin O'Donoghue, not bad actually, but I was looking for him to react in a lot of scenes, but he didn't let his feeling command himself, is like when a stone is expected to crash, a bomb expected to blow it all, but it doesn't... I can see potential on him but... he need to improve a little. The movie itself has a good script, storytelling, fluently carried. The relation between personal stuff (Colin's character past and so on...) and the present (relation to Father Lucas= Hopkins, and exorcisms, the actual argument where you are put in the entire movie) is one of the greatest I've ever seen, fluent an well-mixed. Good job for me. Don't follow the trends. As I always say.

Oscar-winning King should be the tagline
12 February 2011
Well... just by giving a 10 out of 10, do I have to say more? Do I have to spell it out for you? At this point it really doesn't matter what I'm gonna say but what you've seen... this movie shows what effort can do... to be more redundant (according to this topic, of course)... this movie is shouting every possible emotion on every character, and believe me, there was no problem on talking here. Colin Firth, keeps surprising me with every movie he takes part in. But, talking just in this case, what an amazing performance! Shyness, bad temper, impotence, medical problems, self-conscience issues, past traumas, inexperience in some cases, and that sense of great responsibility (it resembles to Lion King's Simba for this kind of feeling, ''I cannot be what I am''), all these feelings gathered and mixed in a chaotic way within Colin's character, and every one of them better than the other you've just seen. Perfect, in each and every single way to say it, JUST SAY IT: PERFECT PERFORMANCE, TOTALLY CHAOTICALLY PERFECT. Colin, you've got the whole responsibility with your character, and madly well done. Geoffrey Rush takes a lot in this movie too, I'm not forgetting him. Of course no. He keeps this chaotic mixture and transforms it into a perfectly done puzzle of a great King image. A great performance too. Good man, good job! And of course Helena B.Carter, of course... the most believable serious character she've ever done! At first it was such a weird thing to know he was nominated for her supporting role here, because she was always as crazy (in the good way) as Tim Burton... you know what I mean. But here, unstoppable. Like a perfect royal lady must be. Music made by the same compositor from the last 2/3 Harry Potter movies (Alexandre Desplat) who is new at this. But he's growing, day by day. Such a good job too. No doubts, 12 Oscars belong here... KING SIZE.

Is not what I've expected
11 February 2011
Since I've seen it was nominated to 4-oscars including Best Motion Picture and Best Leading Actress I though ''whoa, must be that good'' but... is not what I was looking for. Actually maybe I'm not fair with Jennifer Lawrence because the role counts to judge how good was she... or not. What I can say is not an Oscar-winning acting. Maybe in another movie. The actor nominated in supporting role, John Hawkes deserves an award rather than her. Besides I've seen a good movie I can tell, well done. What I can anticipate, just in general, is... is not what you expect for a Motion Picture of the Year-nominee. Generally a good movie, good scenery... nice landscapes... but the beginning says ''is gonna happen something incredible'' and... and... and... nothing happens next. Actually, let me say this the sensation I had been having the whole movie...

Starting to love Westerns!
11 February 2011
Well... here is talking someone that actually hated western movies her own life... but...something is changing nowadays. By first... I'm talking after watching ''No Country for Old Men'' from Coen brothers too. What a surprise back then! Of course I started to love Josh Brolin there too, Javier Barden a genius!! But.. going straight to the point... thanks Coen guys I'm starting to give Westerns a chance. I knew about this movie and couldn't wait to watch it! Of course it has nothing to do the fact that is starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin... I'm kidding, they're gorgeous! Jeff Bridges has beaten then all... if there is a Leading actor award, you've got it right here! What a acting, mixing that comedy-drama role, who in the Holy Mother of God can do that as good as him... or at least who can do it? Thanks Jeff for a great movie... then you have Matt Damon, in the 2nd line, you know, hard to say what I'm really thinking... but, well.. after all is Matt D. (what would u expect?)... he was too funny really really funny too, great job there. I was really expecting to see more about Josh Brolin, but, well, he had not such a big part in the movie I guess, but he was perfect too. The girl, a really tough one, you don't wanna mess with her... that's all I'm allowed to say if I don't want to give u a spoiler... my last will... WATCH IT and GET IMPRESSED!

A Touch Of Light
14 January 2011
I saw this move recently and... well... we all noticed that the music also the topic are ''Clint Eastwood''.... yes of course he has a great personality and very defined one to tell us that he was there. I love the way Eastwood makes us ''feel'' what every each and single character on the film feels in the moment it's being felt... is nice how 3 perfect strangers can help each other... how the big pains in life can be in a way solved... is like a little light in the darkness... when you think you'll never get your life back again (it happens to the 3 of them in fact), when you think all you do is worthless... when you're really REALLY disappointed with life gave to you and you deny of that... there's someone like you... waiting to feel complete... and you remember you're not alone and then everything falls into place with just a little... handshake. Of course... almost forgot... the actors, amazing, thanks Clint for this lovely movie! No need to remind us the great director (and compositor!) you are!

One word... Disney!
14 January 2011
One word came to my mind when I saw this magnificent work of art: Disney. Then I just knew how was it gonna be... what a beautiful movie! what a great characters! As many of you I'm gonna sound repetitive but... it surely worths it... Disney's classics are back. And there's no Pixar in here... no mates, that was all Disney! What we have here is a real Disney Princess (not like that sad intend to go back in time with The Princess and The Frog), a real one. With a dream, with a lovely voice, and no boundaries! Who wants to go beyond and beyond... and what is most important... she takes us with her! I felt there inside from the very beginning until the end. And of course without adding the fact that there's unexpected parts: no one can say that the end (you know what I mean, not to spoiler you) was expected... TOTALLY AWESOME! (when I've got here in fact I felt like you all were reading my mind!!! All of us where in the same theater, in front of the same screen the whole movie). My speech is intended to transmit all my passion! Would you mind reading?

Don't think it's that bad...
24 November 2010
Sorry if some of you get disappointed about my opinion. But... I don't think is as bad as you said in your comments, honestly. I think that it needs to improve, yeah I know. I also watch the TV series, and is not that bad. I wasted maybe the ''funny thing'' of the series, that made it some sort of special, but well, it's just the first... I've seen and read (so important) Harry Potter the entire collection of books, also the movies... and well, the first ones are close to the books, but though for kids... how could you expect more for ''children books''? The we've got the following 2 / 3 movies (Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of Phoenix) that are not bad, but have got less close to the books... but they're actually not bad, really. Then... the 2 last... whoever says ''are bad'' honestly he/she can shoot in his/her head... because they were growing gorgeous and even more marvelous! So... give it a chance guys, maybe is not what we expected, but we need to see MORE to know if it can give us a close relation to the movie. Try to think more ''objective'' not so personal. It needs a little more fun and a little bit more acting effort... but, after all, they're kids! Remember Daniel Radcliffe, it was really tough for HP's role because of his personality, but well, gave a chance and noted he grown up, so his role is good enough now. We need to be more flexible, in my opinion. And, again, I watch the series, so I'm taking from the understanding point of view.

BEST Arg. show ever made!
5 September 2010
If there was an Argetinian show, this is it! How could anyone ever imagine that one guy could ever imagine all this? 4 very different guys... doing each one of them what they're prepared to do... gathered together, working as a team, solving problems ''which nobody can solve''... what's the result of this? (plus very good sense of humor - realistic topics - some action - history facts events) THE MOST GORGEOUS TOTALLY AMAZING TALENTED SHOW!! If you're from other part of the world... whatever you're thinking live it all behind and give yourself the possibility to enjoy this TV work of art... for me we could compare the difference (then GREAT SUCCESS) between JJ ABRAMS'S LOST and the other shows in Northamerica and ''LOS SIMULADORES (PRETENDERS)'' and the other shows in Argentina. In both cases you can only say ''There's no other like this. No other.'' 4 WORDS SAID from Damian Szifrom (Director-creator)--- Santos: Brain, Lampone: Strengh, Medina: Heart, and Ravenna: Humor-artistic (each one separated and together in a bigger and perfect body).

Loved it! It was such a great investigation, very immersed in the topic, they took all the details and explained the whole thing, in my personal opinion, really enjoyed the explanation accompanied with graphics, very great! I'm a really TITANIC history freaky, so I can tell that for anyone who wants to see a really accurate investigation with all the details that any ''fan'' wants to know, here is the place, this is the documental. As the TITANIC movie was, this one from J.C is such a work of art... it's the ''forensic facts'' as the old Rose said once in TITANIC movie from 1997. Also you'll love how the investigators are pretty interested in how was the disaster step by step, and recreate the whole thing again and again, also easy to follow, and nice graphics. A really good work!
