Season 4 Isn't Even That Bad...
14 May 2023
Well as we all know Season 1 is by far the best because of its simple yet effective premise and endearing characters. There is indeed a noticeable drop in quality in the following Seasons but that doesn't make them bad. I honestly don't understand why the show was cancelled, it still had potential.

I remember hating Season 4 when I first saw it but I watched it again and it's not that bad. It's a very mixed bag and kind of all over the place, it should have been shorter like Season 2 and more focused on Samuel (who is an interesting villain and very well played) so the writers did screw up by having too many things going on at the same time and therefore losing track of the main story. Still I feel the last episode was satisfying.

Just boring.

Good thing this movie is short, because nothing happens until the end which you can see coming because it's rather obvious. The main actress is quite good, though, she's just not given enough to work with.

Decent, but not as good as the original
23 April 2021
The acting is the problem here. The acting in the original was believable (for that kind of movie anyway). Here, no one seems to care about what's going on in the movie. The only interesting character is Kano, the rest are so dull and hollow that they could have swapped the actors playing them and it wouldn't have made any difference. They have no substance at all. I will admit however that the fatalities were fun and it has funny moments.

Don't even bother...

I couldn't even watch it all. Nicolas Cage is god-awful as always, and here his ham acting is somehow even worse than usual. What a truly horrendous sorry excuse for an actor he is.

Needed another run at the typewriter

This is yet another classic case of good concept, bad execution. The idea of bringing a virtual character in the real world to go on a murder rampage is a good one but it never really takes off due to the poor script, that not even the two main actors (who are usually excellent) can save. It's just underwhelming, and the action scenes are not that exciting either and could have been done much better. Now with that said, Russell Crowe does give an entertaining performance and saves the movie from being a total bore.

Dark, and yet deeply touching
27 April 2020
This is a very special movie. It cannot be narrowed to a specific genre. It has elements of horror, but it's also a wonderful love story between a misfit boy and a mysterious girl. The two main actors are 100% believable in their role and their performance will leave you transfixed if you're not totally soulless. Chloë Morentz especially is incredibly compelling portraying the duality of her character; part innocent and fragile, part superhuman vampiric creature. Despite the fact that she's an avid predator, in her human form you just want to hold her in your arms like Owen does. The pair are lonely and lost in the world and all they have is each other. I teared up watching this movie and it's very rare that that happens to me.

The ending gave me AIDS, I think
5 April 2020
I have nothing against the concept of a twist at the end of a movie, but the twist HAS TO MAKE SENSE. Elizabeth Moss' acting was very good and kept me interested until that totally absurd ending which utterly ruins the whole movie and insults the intelligence of anyone watching it with a modicum of common sense. A low blow.

Dreadfully disappointing movie.

Hilarious!

I didn't want to see this movie at first since I thought the first one was meh and the second one was dull as dishwater but I think this one is by far the best of the three. There's a big change in tone in this one as it's more of a comedy and the characters don't take themselves seriously but the jokes worked for me big time. You could say it's a parody of the first two and as such it doesn't feel like the "real" Thor, but somehow they absolutely nailed it.

Wow...
21 February 2020
I don't think I've ever seen a movie that left me at such a loss for words. But I mean that in a good way. Many times I just thought "WTF?", especially considering that nothing is clearly explained, but the movie is so well made (the practical effects are strikingly good) that it doesn't matter. The acting was mostly good and the pace kept me interested until the end, which is, well, confusing to say the least but again in a movie like this it doesn't really matter.

I know some people compare this to movies like The Thing (I'd compare it more to Slither) but I personally liked The Void even more because of its originality. I understand why some people might not like it though as it's really not for everyone.

Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023)

People rating this 9-10 are clearly not thinking...
27 January 2020
I was expecting substance over presentation but I guess it's just too much to ask these days. Sure the CGI looks great, but so what. It simply feels empty. In the first episode we see a female android doing Jiu-Jitsu and killing a bunch of guys. Wow. Doesn't feel much like Star Trek to me. Then there's the issue of Patrick Stewart being way too old and some of his delivery seems forced. And he's going to take on the Borg?

Best horror movie I've seen in years
10 December 2019
I really don't get all the negative reviews. The film is technically well made, the acting is solid and it keeps you involved in the story. It doesn't slow down and there's even a satisfying twist. This is NOT your typical possession movie at all.

Obscenely Overrated
27 October 2019
Sure Phoenix's acting is good, but I found the movie boring and depressing. His character is just sad, empty and pathetic and this is what gives the tone to the whole movie. At the end we're not sure what's real and what's not, but it doesn't matter to me because there's no payoff.

Not "bad" but

Not that good either. I enjoyed it until the twist but the problem is that it doesn't make any sense. It takes the movie in a completely different direction and just ruins it in my opinion.

Season 4 is surprisingly good!
8 July 2019
Talk about a return to form. After the disappointing season 3, my expectations for season 4 were quite low but I have to say this is the best after the first one. It surpasses season 3 in every possible way: better story, better acting, less dull moments, and the revelation in episode 7 (which I won't give away) is excellent. I can't wait to watch the rest.

One of the stupidest movies I've ever seen
13 March 2019
And yet I can't give it a 1 because the acting was solid so I ended up watching it all. There is a twist ending that you can't possibly see coming, mainly because it's so monumentally grotesque and over the top. The character of Tony is so insanely stupid that I was constantly wishing someone would stab him in the head for the entire duration of the film.

Really?
22 May 2018
Note to self: never get fooled by a trailer again. I laughed a few times, yeah, but that's it. The movie is packed with jokes but most of them are misfires, and of course they tried to turn the ending into a joke as well but it just drags on and never delivers, and left me bored and even a little sad. All the characters are pretty much bland with no depth and the plot is paper-thin. The first one was FAR better.

The fact that some people give this 10/10 baffles me, unless you're 10 years old, or have the mentality of a 10 year old.
