Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Pretty much connects to the original trilogy.
Episode III does a pretty good job connecting to Episode IV. There are, however, a couple of loose ends that it did not explain. First, in Empire Strikes Back, Luke says that there is something familiar about Dagobah (Yoda's home-in-exile) shortly after landing there. But he has never been to Dagobah before. Secondly, in Return of the Jedi, Leia claims to remember her "real" mother -- that she was very "beautiful, but sad". How could this have been possible when Padme died right after giving birth to the twins, unless Leia had mistaken her adoptive mother (on Alderaan) for her real mother. Other than that, I enjoyed the movie.
X-Men (2000)
One of the best comic book movies ever!
Along with Spider-man, the first Superman (1978), and first Batman (1989) movies, X-men is one of the best of the comic books to have been successfully adapted to the big screen. The cast was well chosen, especially Hugh Jackman who perfectly portrays Wolverine. After having viewed the trailer for X-men 2, I'm marking May 2, 2003 down on my calendar!
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Get the Special Extended DVD edition. It's even better !!!
If you liked this movie when it first came out in the theaters, then you'll love it when you see its extended version (the 4-DVD box set)!
With the added footage, you will get a much better perspective of this Tolkien classic! It's truly breathtaking especially if you view this in a proper home theater environment. I can now only hope that the TWO TOWERS will be given a similar treatment when it is released on DVD!
The Beatles Anthology (1995)
The most comprehensive documentary of the greatest band ever!
This is indeed the most comprehensive documentary (or "rockumentary") of the greatest band/artist of all time. Although the total length of the newly released 5-DVD box set lasts for more than 11 hours, it sure doesn't feel like it! It doesn't drag a bit at all, and you will be thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. This is essential, not only for all Beatles fans, but also for anyone with even a passing interest in pop/rock music! This collection easily supersedes any previous Beatles documentaries... including the fabulous "The Compleat Beatles"(released in 1982), which is out of print anyways.
Enjoy!!!
