Hawkeye: Ronin (2021)
GREAT
The return of Kingpin. YES!!! Vincent D'Onofrio is awesome as the Kingpin and I hope he gets to shine again on this series or future spinoff.
I wish this show has a 2nd season, just as Loki.
The show is becoming one of my favorites from the Marvel series.
The chemistry between the characters is great and.
Suspiria (2018)
Disappointment
First, this is is not a remake. This movie tried to tell the same story in a different way, but I don't think they were sure what they wanted or trying to achieve.
It becomes boring at some points, for example the scenes with Tilda Swinton as the doctor character were unnecessary and do not add much to the plot.
The terrorism background going on in the city was also baffling.. What does it have to do with the witches? I did not get it.
The acting was very good and some scenes were creepy, but never scary.
The original Suspiria is a nightmare-inducing, creepy, tense, horror masterpiece. The soundtrack by the band Goblin may be one of the scariest music pieces you'll ever listen. Thom Yorke's music for this film is nowhere near that and I hate to say it since he's one of my favorite musicians.
A disappointment, sadly.
WandaVision: The Series Finale (2021)
Great ending, great things to come!
This final episode was everything the series was building up to. It's a story about Wanda having to cope with Vision's loss by creating her own alternate reality and dealing with the effects of it in the real world.
And, it shows us the origin of the Scarlet Witch.
There are some questions unanswered but Marvel excels at following up on these at some point.
For example, ... Who is Ralph Bohner? " Bohner!" that scene was so funny.
I would love to see the effect of Wanda understanding her powers (end credits scene). The Scarlet Witch costume reveal was great!!
Monica Rambeau's story needs its own series or movie, hope to see that soon!! (mid-credits scene)
House of Cards: Chapter 73 (2018)
Horrible
What once was a great show became this atrocity.
The show should have ended when Kevin Spacey left. It would have been a somewhat good ending having Season 7 as the last, but instead they went ahead with this beast.
The dynamic between Claire and Francis, their schemes and ambitions was the highlight of this show. With that gone, there is nothing much worth of interest. Doug Stamper on this season was absent... It was like a completely different character.
This show became yet another great one with a terrible finale.
El agente topo (2020)
Lovely, well-made film
I read good reviews about this documentary so I decided to give it a try.
I was not disappointed.
What starts off as a funny, easy-going film, transforms into a story about love, family and loneliness in the final stage of people's lives.
Sergio, the story's 80-yr old protagonist, is sub-hired as an "undercover agent" to check on a client's mother living in a nursing home, due to suspicions of abuse and stealing. Sergio is unaware on how to use a phone or camera, which provides some funny scenes.
What Sergio shows through the documentary is a look on how these people are living their final days in the nursing home. They range from happy to be there to totally abandoned by their families. It is a cruel reality.
The documentary does not get into the common story that the guests are mistreated by their caretakers. They actually show respect and kindness to them.
This film will make you laugh, cry and really think about how would you like to spend your elder years. Greatly recommended.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Disappointing
After two years it ended, this show is gone from everyone's minds due to this episode and 8th season overall.
I know the showrunners could not please everyone but the whole season felt rushed. Some of the characters endings' were well deserved and in line with their stories, but I could not believe Bran's. Really??
Online fanfiction is way better than this. What a disappointment.
La santa muerte (2007)
Don't watch this!
By the title, you expect this movie to be a terror/suspense movie.. don't be fooled, it is not! the approach of the storyline is from the Christian standpoint, so basically the message of the movie is that praying to La Santa Muerte is the same as worshiping the devil and you should believe in Jesus Christ... I don't have a problem with that, however, the acting, storyline and dialogue it's just horrible!! no one in Mexico talks like the characters in the movie do, it's just not credible, everybody talks like it was some horrible soap opera and it's just plain annoying, it's ridiculous... The director used three or four stories in the movie and tried to use the Pulp Fiction approach in which all the story lines are connected somehow... something that has been done already in more successful/well directed movies in the past... Anyways, don't waste your time on this piece of crap movie, it's not worth it!
