Just what the frack was that?
3 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, this anime was very weird.... I saw it and got hooked to it and basically, it has this boring character who cries like a wimp sometimes and he's the protagonist. I like Asuka better she was very entertaining with her boisterous attitude and very funny and pretty, too. Sometimes she did get annoying like how she whined when he didn't hug her or something while she was kissing and her outgoingness. But I think it would've been better if Asuka came on earlier, I skipped to that episode where she first came on so I won't get bored.

There is a lot of nudity in it and language and I just didn't like it very much.

Well, the characters did grow and change a bit, they got a little better but still pretty mediocre. They all had deep pasts. The earlier episodes were silly like generic anime.

I watched the mediocre English dub and I don't know if this is true but I thought that the characters weren't distinct and Asuka's voice was very whiny, her emotions were a little off probably. Though, it was good.

I don't consider this anime one of the best ones. About all of the characters in there were disappointingly flawed and the last few episodes were the worst.

Not really worth-watching
16 November 2014
Eh... some things that come out of Jenny's mouth is teenage crap that contrasts with, how old is she? I don't get how she is 16 and she's supposed to be 5, I know some robots' ages are obscure but it's still confusing. So that makes the voice actor who doesn't sound like her personality try to sound like both a 16-year-old and a 5- year-old as she simultaneously looks like one and this is just confusing me more.

That's right... I never liked this show as a kid and frankly, watching it now that I am into robots after shying away from them, doesn't make a charming experience.

The character design is bad like I can't even describe it, maybe stretched? Just to make these midgets look tall? Jenny's face seems like something I've seen before.

If you want to give this a miss, well, it's for the best. It used to be on Nickolodeon when you were probably a young kid. But if you're curious, then go on ahead, you might enjoy this teenage girl's adventures and personality.

Sonic Boom (2014–2017)

This show ruined Sonic
8 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The show is not Sonic. Instead, it's just a silly show which takes place in an island sometimes desert-like setting, then near the icy lake where Sonic & friends fight Eggman and have misadventures in, which includes having to save each other from falling into ice and nearly falling off a cliff. Sonic and Eggman add sense of humor in the show by joking about a robot which is unmemorable and corny. The characters are bad, Tails raised his voice in one part, and Sonic said that he didn't want his sidekick around, which isn't healthy for the friendships of those two. Eggman is also corny and tries too hard to be funny and cool. The action is not good, instead it just involves Sonic running down a mountain and Tails chasing after him, trying to save him from Doctor Eggman.

I can't remember any of these parts being in the games. If there were parts like that in Sonic & The Secret Rings, it's also a game that I did not particularly care much for because it was just some Aladdin-like game. I am very disappointed that Sonic is dead because of games like Sonic 06 existing where characters get into ridiculous situations such as having to save a girl called Elise, turning into a werehog for some parts, and being in the Olympics with Mario. I like Sonic Riders series better, it's just a good Sonic racing game.

The voice acting is portrayed terribly in another Sonic thing which makes the characters' off by both personalities and they don't fit. Sonic sounds too husky and Tails just sounds like an annoying little kid.

The enemies are not appealing, they just have Sonic dodge their attacks from a distance on a mountain or put him and Tails into ice that they have to get out of.

This show, like the games, is alright for children. I can only give props to the humor that is written and Eggman's voice.

I could not stand the show and stopped after a few minutes of the first episode.

But when I woke up this morning to catch this show on television (really early), I thought that the episodes were improving. This was my first impression, and the show is getting better so far, though, there are still problems, like, almost none of the voice actors sound true to the characters, and I don't like the design of Knuckles and Sonic, it seems like that they were trying to show off their strength.

Amy still sounds a bit like Minnie Mouse. And Sticks is a new character for the show (well, technically, she's from the games) and she got annoying later on. Her voice sounds a tad like Vanellope Von Schweetz and cute-sy sometimes and she's, what, 12? Maybe a lot younger? She serves as a foil type character to the Sonic company and she likes to fight with them about some things.

Still, the show is not exactly the same Sonic we know, like what I said about the voice acting and design? The show does have pretty awesome action, though.

I liked how it's a show about the four most popular Sonic characters working as a team. It's cute, though, the inclusion of a foil doesn't work out unless she's tapped into her potential.

The Boxtrolls (2014)

Watchable but there is far better stop-motion projects to watch on Halloween season
13 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
At first, I was skeptical about this movie. I didn't think that this young girl in it would make it appealing enough. And I heard she was too harsh and spoiled. But I decided to give the movie a try and I used to like her but now I understand that these characters were not good enough as well as the story. The only character that I like is the under-appreciated Eggs, the main character, he's a good boy, amicable, adorable and positive and it really made me get attached to him, but even he isn't the best character ever, but he may receive a nomination for being one of the best male characters. But his disgusting personality is what turns me off. Especially with that annoying Winnie character showing him how to have proper manners and gets mean. Though, she is definitely no Penny from Mr. Peabody & Sherman, that's for sure.

The film may be alright for a few watches, but the saccharine scenes, hard-to-follow storyline, underdeveloped and weird characters, over-the-top silly humor, and overly mature yet childish themes only makes it appealing to little kids. Whether you like the humor or not, it still doesn't offer very much to make it as appealing as "Coraline" or "Paranorman". Paranorman is my favorite one, though they aren't my favorites, Eggs tops all the protagonists for me but even he could've had better situations to go through. I know he's only 11, life sucks at that age but is that enough? Or shouldn't they come up with a better conflict or maybe develop it?

His voice sounds nasal and whiny compared to the excellent voice cast from everyone.

Unlike Frozen, it adds silly humor, grotesque things, more clichés, little emotional punch, bizarre characters and another mean sidekick that I want to choke and hit. The action is predictable and so are Eggs and Winnie. There is not much to remember about this film, some scenes you can just forget in a flash. Either that or I couldn't pay much attention to it, it was just too silly, childish, and overall, not alluring enough.

Overall, this film may be good to watch around Halloween, but it still doesn't have enough interesting things going on in it to make it the best film to watch around Halloween. You can choose something different such as "Nightmare Before Christmas". It's moreso something for older kids and young teenagers. I wouldn't let anyone younger than about 6 or 7 view this movie, the first part is a nice little childish wonder but the second part just turns it around. There is a little more effort to put in Eggs, the story, and theme like they did with Coraline, it wouldn't bother me so much if this kids' film had interesting mature themes as well as make it suitable and healthy enough for the little ones. This movie is the most mature children's film out there, especially that scene where the boxtrolls got killed and Eggs crying, holding his head. I am glad that this even won't be very popular and possibly for generations compared to Tim Burton's film's popularity because it's not good for very young kids plus it's pretty annoying. Also, has some stupid scenes to it. I suggest watching some other movie for Halloween. This is by far, the worst children's movie to watch during Halloween.

Where's Susan?
10 October 2014
Here is a poor copy of Night of the Living Dead that I watched on my 3DS. I was so excited to see it since it was a continuation of the Halloween special; unfortunately, it doesn't seem much of a continuation and perhaps the worst continuation I have ever seen. It starts where we left off, a mutant carrot comes out of the soil and The Missing Link destroys it.

Here, we see everyone except for Susan, which really disappoints me what happened to everyone else. I mean, where is Susan? She is a central character with critical acclaim and she isn't even in there. So it would've been excellent to have her in there. Then we can see the carrots eating up all those annoying children and that would've made a wonderful Halloween special.

There are not many humorous moments in there. Monsters vs. Aliens has went downhill.

Emilie Jolie (2011)
6/10
An underwhelming and forgettable movie that kept dragging
10 October 2014
So this movie is based off the Emilie Jolie record tape or something? I haven't seen it so I can't compare those two. This is a movie that I couldn't find the subs of so I don't actually get it. At the very beginning, it's very interesting and wonderful to see Emilie discouraged when she couldn't go to school so her mother presents her a book in order to refresh her; though, the book is quite boring and will probably keep the viewer cringing at the film, especially when Emilie gets over there. It has bright colors and so childlike that it might keep the little ones entertained but older kids over the age of 9 probably wouldn't find this very intriguing. For the majority, it's cute and childish but some parts were rough.

The characters are bland and quite lame. She sings a quite charming song when she goes into the rabbit world and then she might put you to sleep.

I don't think that this story will hook the little viewers neither. It's quite hard to follow the plot, also it might bore them to tears. The villain may be too scary for the little ones. The songs sound pretty good but even they don't quite fit the film. The only song that fit the movie was the first one and little bit of the one Emilie's father sings. The fight scenes were also quite lame. There are several entertaining scenes but the film itself isn't too shabby.

By the time it got towards the end of the film, everything was just off. The dirty villion was one of the most disturbing scenes I ever seen in a children's film.

I also hate the clothes Emilie wears at the end.

6/10 Not bad. It gets even more boring, and it's too cheesy.

An overrated entertainment
10 October 2014
I have a feeling that I've watched this film at a very very early age, but I'm not quite sure since I was watching a lot of Disney films at the time (I think) and it had to be a very short scene of it... Basil looks kind of familiar.

This very entertaining surprise shows a small mouse named Olivia that gets her father, Professor Ratigan kidnapped on her birthday and her father! Dawson finds her crying inside a shoe, lost. So he helps her.

Now this is where the entertaining part starts, Olivia convinces Basil to help her search for her father. I thought I'd really like it but the ending when Basil almost dies and then Olivia cries was somewhat poor. But that's probably because I really loved Basil and I was shocked to see him falling like that! The film, while being quite forgettable is actually somewhat memorable!

Olivia is a little too naive though. But the rest of the cast is pretty great! And the voice acting fitted them perfectly, yet you'll fall in love with them!

I also fell in love with the cinematography, art, and animation! It's all top-notch!

I don't like mysteries but this film managed to engage me! I think it's entertaining for all ages! You would like this is you like comedies.

Hate this movie
7 October 2014
I am a big fan of the Angry Video Game Nerd and am one of the people that were put off by his downfall but as a big fan of his great reviews such as Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout, Little Red Hood, Zelda: Wand of Gamelon etc., I was overly disappointed by this film and am sorry to say that this is the worst movie ever (to adapt from the series). There's a new game called Eee Tee 2? Have I heard of this one?

I am worried that this movie is going to get boring, it looks too long and the Nerd does nothing but try to 'overcome his fear of the game', says the plot and that is such a disgrace to me and the series. Because the Nerd is now brave enough to review any series he can but not E.T., something that his fans requested him to. Yes, at the beginning, we get a trailer? I don't know. But I do know that we get to see his fans watching the videos he made and admiring them. It's not cool. He is usually by himself while there can be some new characters appearing during the episodes but they were not fans or out of thin air.

The humor is gone, I only like cracked a smile and that's it. I stopped the movie, I don't remember really chuckling.

This is just like a normal movie, featuring the Nerd as the protagonist and his adventures and fear.

I'm sorry, James, but this film looked pretty promising and when I see something like a knockoff or an adaptation of something that has something bad of something that I really really liked, I get put off and give it a low rating. Such as Gun x Sword, Wendy was too annoying for me to stand watching.

He's just trying to overcome his fear of getting pain from this video game. What a "painful" idea.

The Jungle Book 2: Mowgli's New Life
1 October 2014
I watched this before The Jungle Book, so it's either that it was because I was young or I didn't see The Jungle Book but at that age, The movie was boring.

This sequel depicts Mowgli's adventures in the man-village along with his friends, later, he returns to the jungle. Shanti is even more annoying in this one, last time we saw her, she was 9 and in the sequel, she is 11. I'm pretty glad that her voice didn't sound like a woman but the voice sounded kind of whiny. She has a toddler for a brother named Ranjan who isn't any better, the two are just plain annoying.

Thinking about this movie makes me mad. I can't believe that Disney would ruin all these great movies with sequels but at least this one's the best I've seen out of them but this is just a rehash of the first movie.

Now, if you're curious, I wouldn't mind you giving this a go but it's too short.

Anina (2013)
3/10
Eh...
28 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This movie dives into the mind of a cheerful child named Anina. She is bullied by the kids at school because of her name. Anina is a scared little girl with an overactive imagination with a best friend. She is given a black letter containing a punishment that she can't open for a week, which worries Anina. She seems to dislike that little blonde- haired girl. And her love for a small blonde-haired boy is too strong. You'd think she has a crush but it's love.

The characters are not realistic; I know Anina is still young and she can get jealous (in fact, that's not immature for anyone at all) but she still can act more her age. There is little emotion in this. The movie bores you with no plot, just shows the life of the girl and her mind. It was so boring that I just skipped some parts. The characters can be childish. The movie is just weird, the girl thinks unrealistic thoughts and watches movies.

Space Dandy: The Big Fish Is Huge, Baby (2014)
Season 2, Episode 5
5/10
My head spun
28 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The animation and art is so bad, it makes the episode feel blank. This has got to be the worst animation and art of all-time. The characters now have dark lines around them and the water looks like earth. I don't even feel that the episode is really going. The waves look too peculiar and stylized. The animation for Dandy in one part was so bad, you couldn't tell how he was feeling. He even looked a bit like a woman.

In this episode, Dandy tries to catch a munagi, an extremely rare alien. After he fell in mud, he encounters an annoying four-year-old named Erssime wearing a mask. She is an alien too. Erssime is way more hyperactive and fearless than Ed from Cowboy Bebop is. She is a dense kid. I think that it's quite off for the series that this whole episode is about fishing but on the other hand, it would've been good. But this episode had too much whim compared to the other episodes to fit the art and animation. I think that the new characters were pretty senseless especially for Space Dandy.

Though, I liked Elderly.

It's like the Adelie episode, I don't like how these kids take up Q.T. and Meow's screen time. Erssime's looks sounds like she was ripped right out of a Miyazaki film.

This episode is not really funny nor is it dramatic. It just has a light style to it and the childish-looking swirl mud which contradicts what this anime was intended to be.

I loved the montage to this episode and the music.

Maleficent (2014)
5/10
This movie is worse than Oz: The Great and Powerful
24 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
While I thought Oz was okay, this movie, unfortunately was a bit worse. I have not seen much of Sleeping Beauty so I do not know what the story's about.

I think this movie will be hard for kids to understand and parents must accompany them if they have any questions to ask. It was confusing with pointless occurrences and very boring with some entertaining parts with little plot that seems to go on-and-off, a tale that's similar to Sleeping Beauty. Though, the kiss was not by a true love, it was by Maleficent. So Aurora hates her when she finds out that she's Maleficent but does she actually love her since her true kiss worked?

The characters are unmemorable; there is no antagonist until the end, which seems to make little sense with it being more of a slice of life type. And Maleficent's wings are taken away until the end. How could they get taken away? She's a fairy. Maleficent is the worst character that's based on a villain I ever seen, she is not a villain in this one but she has an evil look which makes her saccharine. But some of the actors were cute, others were beautiful.

The action and special effects are highly impressive which makes you forget about the pointless things to them. But there are some which play out like a cartoon and others that are just weird.

Space Dandy (2014)
7/10
An unstable show that could've been just as good as Bebop
7 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I had watched several Space Dandy episodes already and so far, there is little but complex plots in the episodes and no plot at all to move the series along. We had the first season, where Dandy talked about body parts when he sees women and there was an annoying woman who comes from a restaurant with its name taken from a private part. At first, I thought the series was extremely cool but as it gets further, you'll realize that Dandy is a pervert which makes us realize how disappointing he actually is.

Then, when I heard that there was going to be a 2nd season arguably titled "Space Dandy 2" or "Space Dandy 2nd Season", I didn't really like the ideas of giving them a new title, it REALLY should've been one big show with whatever combined episodes.

Pretty much each episode that I've seen have different writers and this was a bad thing if they're not careful enough to keep the show's brilliance.

After looking at more episodes of this show, I thought that it was made to be a related anime or even a follow-up to Bebop because almost everything about it (despite some parts of Space Dandy) reminded me very much of Bebop and I also was disappointed yet satisfied. The thing is, the show tried too hard to be overly unique to Bebop like Dandy's perverted personality, him kissing Scarlett and an annoying little girl with the generic and annoying anime voice for little girls which made me go "Wow...". Not to mention that the opening looked childish with techno music that gives you a weird feeling about the show. Indeed the music is less memorable than Cowboy Bebop's and so is the story, art, sound, and character of this show. The voices fit the characters.

The art and animation was excellent for the most part but in some parts of the show, they feel off compared to how they were intended for the series.

I found out that this show was directed by the same person that directed Bebop and I was like "How did he go downhill?" Because I've seen a lot of shows from him and I never seen one that I thought was just as disappointing to some extent. And Adelie is an annoying character and overrated character that ruins the episode. Shows like this need to capture the same feel of Bebop.

Way too nostalgic
18 June 2014
I wouldn't recommend Mai Mai Miracle to people who hate movies that are strong on nostalgia. I think Clarence is a better one for you. I don't think I even like movies about a third grader but this one is quite hard to like anyway. Thevoice acting is perfect and so is the animation.

Shinko is way too annoying and she is the one that gives you the most nostalgia. It kind of reminds me of Totoro, though, I wish the sister (I forgot her name) was with her big sister more. The little sister and Kiiko are my favorite characters. The movie is truly forgettable, the second part is hard to follow, the movie is just a slice of life story, you know, no plot and not much of a fantasy either like Totoro is. I'm a Totoro fan and I can't like this movie because of how mediocre it is.

Overall, it's a little bit decent, was a close second to stopping it, you know,

I think this is a nice series
19 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
When I saw the trailer and the pictures, I thought this show would be pretty lame. But I thought the idea for it was quite appealing, though it needs to end pretty soon. The writing is quite weak at some points. The plot was predictable, though it was pretty interesting.

The character, Bo, is likable from the start but then she gets so annoying that she turned out to be a pretty mediocre character. I have never seen a child of age 10 have more of a grown-up face with extraordinary powers. It's kind of cool, actually. The other characters are fun to watch.

The acting was excellent for the most part while the direction was mediocre.

Overall, not bad. For anyone who is afraid the series is going to be bad, it actually is pretty good so far.

Hotel Transylvania... a very boring movie with a girl that has no taste
21 October 2012
God, I should've stuck to Paranormal 4, this is an exact copy of Blood+, but with MONSTERS.

I just watched it today and I couldn't stand even a minute of it, what is up with Mavis? Why does she have to be so bold?? Anyways, stay away from this at all cost, it's too uninteresting, unattractive, and Adam Sandler is annoying in it.

I don't know why I'm writing a review for this shitty movie, I thought I'd like Mary Poppins better and I DID! That's that, Mavis is a unlikable character, bold, not feisty but completely disastrous film.

Came out in September 28th, it needs to be thrown away, I can't stand the bad voice acting, uninteresting plot and comedy that doesn't make me laugh at all.

Mark Hotel Transylvania off, and go watch Despicable Me instead, touching, but very funny.

I thought this would be as stupid as Trigun: Badlands Rumble, not similar at all, but Trigun: The Movie wasn't my cup of tea, Hotel Transylvania was really unnecessary to make.

Nice series...
27 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I thought the idea for it was annoying, but the movie wasn't half-bad and about the series...

Hiccup goes on a wild/fun adventure with dragons in this epic sequel to the series. He overcomes Red Dead, the little pacifist has saved Berk.

I thought his dad was SUPER annoying, but otherwise, the series is fun to watch and not babyish at all.

Though, the movie was sorta corny, I agreed with hte other user but the series is good for kids of all ages, G and the movie's rated PG, for the violence, it doesn't get to severe.

I saw an episode of it today, not bad, I'm going to have to watch more of htis... I'm hooked@

This show...
26 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I can't stand it anymore, a friend showed this to me, I thought I'd like it before this girl got all arrogant.

What's the whole point in this girl anyway? No plot, a five foot nine girl that is a martial artist and damn, she shows off things.

I won't debate on the animation, but the theme of the show is quite unappealing in my opinion while the animation has its admission, downright, thoroughly one of the worst animation of all time. The script is rushed, the voice acting is horrible, since when have you made a spoof off of Trigun??

This anime could've been better than just copying off of Cowboy Bebop.

Let me admit, I like the idea for it but this show needs to be banned from the country, I mean, high school girl gets cocky? Far from egotistical, she can also show off things? Scratch that.

I'm going to watch Blood Plus instead.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green... okay, where did that name come from?
25 September 2012
I was quite thrilled to check out 'The Advengers' recently, then I saw The Odd Life of Timothy Green which has a boy and a couple, spoofed off of the film 'A Troll in Central Park' and I was quite disappointed it had nothing but cheesy dialogue.

I wouldn't say the movie was one of these "suspenseful films" but it had me typing for more that some scenes in the movie were just too bitter for me.

I have to walk out of the theater pondering, okay, what is up with all this talk about satire? Man, that boy was annoying, for trying to meddle with things all the time.

All I wanted to say was "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" had a boy too clueless for me, I can't exact his age but this film was a bit trashy.

Avoid it, please.

Childish...
19 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I've been wanting to watch this film ever since it came out in theaters, but never gotten a chance to. Now after I saw it on demand, I was thinking "Well... er... you know... this is not a kids movie". There are parts where it looked like Gnomeo was committing suicide but then you actually found out it was just broken glass or something.

The storyline looked like a 4-year-old written it and it's nothing special. It's a little run-down with a bit of 'lazy' animation and the humour, well, it could make adults laugh a couple of times, but I think that humour was placed in for more of the little kids and don't really sell out anything for the older kids.

I haven't saw Romeo and Juliet before, let alone a ballet, but this film was well, sorta childish and really nothing special for the older kids and even adults.

Daddy's Girl (1996)
2/10
Disappointing
9 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
So I've been waiting a whole year to watch this movie even if I'm more into the Action-type than I am horror. Last night, I was bored and I was searching through Comcast desperately looking for something to watch. There, I found 'Daddy's Girl.' A movie about a child who murders her teacher, devastated about being taken away. Interested, I had to sit through this movie and see whether I'd like it or not, then I learned that the kid seems to become addicted to killing after a dramatic trauma that happened in her early childhood.

As we go on, the child turns into an evil sadistic child killer and starts toying with the people she hates by literally murdering them one by one about almost each day to keep her and her father together. And with that, her friends and family become confused at this disaster as they get constant phone calls about people dying everyday and for what? An addictive child killer! As they began to try to get details out of Jody (the protagonist), she starts acting as though she is innocent to hide her psychopathic behavior.

I can give a good reason that I did not like this movie simply because I am not a fan of horror films and especially films where you have a child murderer. So, seriously, people, do we REALLY need another movie where you have a kid going around killing off members of her family for apparently no reason at all a la "The Good Son (1993)"?? And yet, do we also need another film where you have a psychopathic bratty or bullying kid acting as though she was innocent and after killing off all those people, she starts lying about it and hiding her true, dark personality a la "The Bad Seed (1956)"? Simply because this film uses parodies from "The Good Son" and "The Bad Seed", I found this to be boring and uninteresting. I also don't see why this film is rated R, but maybe because most horror and thriller films are rated either PG-13 or R and most other horror films are also rated R hence the child killer movies such as "Children of the Corn", "Orphan", and "The Omen." I wouldn't really give this film an R, I would think it's OK for maybe a 12-year-old child to watch but I wouldn't let anyone younger than about 12 watch it hence the PG-13 rating.

As for the acting, it was pretty much about adequate at the most, not what I would expected. In which I heard some people complaining about the horrible acting of the story's protagonist but it could also be that people didn't really give a damn about the character also (as well as I did.) I could say that her acting was average at the most, but not good in any way. The girl can get annoying at times, let me tell you.

The directing could've gone away with a better cinematography. It was quite disappointing and could've had a better experience. Seriously, whoever directed this should get out of business. The writing was also quite horrible too, it had too many flaws, although it was suspenseful, but should've gotten less flaws.

I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone who likes horror, maybe to those of you who likes evil child movies, but you might as well be disappointed too. It's quite boring, unoriginal and uninteresting. As much as I would describe this film, I'd say "suspenseful" as the best description for this movie and also "The Good Son" too. As much as I didn't like "The Good Son" either, I'd say stick to "The Bad Seed" with Patty McCormak. I can admit that was pretty good.

A BIG let-down
11 September 2011
I first saw this film when it was still in the theaters and when I came out, I thought "It was disappointing to me." I first saw the Christmas Carol from the 30s when I was 5 and I loved it! Then, a couple years later, I was introduced with a video called "Mickey's Christmas Carol" and I admit I still love it. Now, I'm pretty much grown out of it… I was pretty excited to see that a brand-new Christmas Carol movie was coming out. Yet, I was expecting it to be pretty funny and to be kind of a fun thrill ride. Then, when I went to the theater, I thought, "Oh, I'll like it…" but I got bored in the middle. Obviously, the movie is NOTHING like a plain comedy or even action-adventure film. No, it turned out to be quite a thriller like the other Christmas Carol films, but I still thought it was kinda funny and somewhat fun.

Today, I saw this on STARZ and I seemed to have liked it a little better than before, but was still a horrible let-down for me. I guess I have grown out of a Christmas Carol, but I heard a lot of critical acclaims for this film and how it was well-received, but I know I'm not the only one who thought this film was embarrassing and generic. Well, you know, I could say that the visuals were nice, the script was flat, and some of the characters and even the ghosts were annoying. Yeah, I didn't like it at all very much. Although, I thought Jim Carrey had to be the film's best since his voice was so unique that it didn't even sound like him, and had definitely deserved the KCA award (even though I don't like the KCA very much anymore…).

Overall: It's done a great job capturing the brilliance of the book and adding in some stuff to entertain older kids, but had the right to maybe scare the little ones, but while I thought the book was quite a let-down too, I stood up for myself that I'm not into "A Christmas Carol" very much anymore… 3/10

Exquisite Film
11 September 2011
"Journey for Margaret" is a beautiful film about the stress of World War II. John Davis (Robert Young) is an out-of-place guy who adopts two children, Margaret (Margaret O' Brien) and Peter (William Severn). While these children are sometimes hard to take care of, well, because of their fear of war. And that's what makes the movie so great.

Robert Young as the film's main protagonist gives out an eye-catching and astonishing performance as the children, especially Margaret, are set to make your eyes well up; with their unforgettable performance and gorgeous talent. While Margaret was only like 4 at the time, she still did well acting in "Journey for Margaret" and almost immediately caught the audience's attention despite her unique crying in "Meet me in St. Louis", her funny attitude in "Thousands Cheer" and tempting brattiness in "The Secret Garden." Robert Young was also a great actor too. Though, I remember him being in another Margaret O'Brien movie a couple years after this one where they were trying to help a cowardly ghost or something like that.

The concept of this movie being based on a true story is what makes it such a fantastic film. Kids probably wouldn't get it, but adults will find it truly amazing

Fun for kids
16 July 2011
I remember watching this when I was in third grade at school and yet I used to love it that I also remember it coming on television that I had to go and watch it whenever it came on. The movie was funny and I could laugh at anything.

Now, at 17, I couldn't remember much about this movie since I didn't watch it for the past years. So, when I borrowed it from the library, learning that it was about a woman who agrees to take care of three kids and must revenge to save her friend who has ran away and spend the whole night trying to find her, I found the movie to be O.K. overall.

I remember how it used to be called, "A Night on the Town" and I was baffled by the change in the title.

17-year-old Chris Parker (Elizabeth Shue) is stood up by her boyfriend (Bradley Whitford). She is then convinced to babysit. While taking care of three kids, Brad, the older brother of the Anderson family, Sara, the bratty and bossy younger sister, and Daryl, the vigorous high-school boy whom we know is the best friend of Brad. One of the kids are obsessed with the comic book, Thor, so the adventure may turn out to be rambunctious... and it does.

With loads of laughter, scares and cliffhangers, this chilling adventure blended with all three action-packed dimensions turns it into a one big adventure for the whole family. Though, I'm going to have to say that the acting was pretty bad for an 80s film and could've used some work, the script was fairly entertaining for all and I think the whole movie was just fun, fun fun. The one thing I found annoying was the little girl, Sara. She was a bit of a self-centered kid at some points, but she turns out to be good and she learns to care and she also learns that it's better to let the big brother do what he does and what he wants.

Home Makeover (2010)
7/10
A pretty good spin-off
27 June 2011
So, I really liked the movie "Despicable Me" and adored its narrative storyline so much that I had wanted to get the DVD for Christmas. Luckily, I did. But before then, I heard that they were releasing three short movies to go along with the DVD in a DVD called, "Minion Madness." The one I had gotten was the double feature so I was reading the synopsis for all the movies including "Home Makeover" and learned that it was about the main characters, little girls from Despicable Me attempting to turn the house into a form of a child's imagination. So that they could keep the social worker from trying to sell the girls back to Miss Hattie's. While watching this short for about one minute, I pictured something a little naive.

"Home Makeover" is actually a plush little comedy spin-off about how hard life can be when you're growing up and how things change especially after you're being adopted and you're still in the contract while these girls are home alone with Margo being the oldest (obviously around 10 or 11) and she's even old enough to babysit her younger adoptive sisters. It also illustrates on how the pressures of being home alone can be painful, frustrating and lonesome like for instance: the movie, "Home Alone." Especially for a preteen in the midst of adoption. Margo is not you're average babysitter (or nanny) and even the other little girls, Agnes and Edith are not your average kids whom you want to babysit with.

They are unconfined, lonely and nervous about the situation. But Margo, (I think) shows her sisters how life can be frustrating and even painful sometimes and learning how to work as a team together to get the problem solved. Movies/Shorts/TV shows about a personal, popular group from another movie working as a team to get over a problem always tend to work if the build-up is correct (which can be really tough sometimes even if the girls from "Despicable Me" were never working as a team together. You see, they were really anxious and hopeless after their abduction by Vector.) Well, here, it's done in a pretty childlike and naive way in which children of any age can entertain themselves with.

Possibly watch it about five times with the addition of the movie (twice) to learn how tough life can be and how to get over problems. By the end, I was brightened that one of the girls with tomboyish problems learn to get over things. Shorts spun off of very light-hearted movies are usually a little coy but "Home Makeover" is one of the exceptions. It understands life very well and how the world goes around and around. Even though Agnes still acts a little foolish, she is not in a bad way though, she grows smarter and she learns to care about her older sisters and even herself, and even before I saw this remarkable short, I came to care about her even before I had to watch the movie whenever she went, "IT'S SO FLUFFY I AM GOING TO DIE!" I was desperate to see the movie specifically for her. *** from *****
