High Fidelity (2000)
Hilarious!
17 June 2002
I have seen this movies so many times and I laugh just as much and just as loud everytime I see it. Me and my friends are always quoting lines from the movie or doing Jack Black impressions. I love John Cusack and i love his character and Jack Black is awesome! He is absolutely hilarious and this was really a break through movie for him. I don't have a top 5 list of movies because I like to many to just have 5 favorites, but this is on my list of greatest movies of all time. See this movie, its so funny, I highly recommend it!

Hard Cash (2002)
I wanted to like it, but....
15 June 2002
It was really bad. I was so disappointed! It has Christian Slater and Balthazar Getty, two of my most favorite actors, and I was really excited to see this, I thought it was be cool, it wasn't. I tried to convince myself that it was good because of the actors in it, but alas, there was not too much that was good about it. I saw it on USA and not on HBO or whatever it was on, so I think that all the massive editing of the film probably wrecked it even more. There was a lot of swearing edited out and its not at all realistic for a bank robber about to arrested to say "lets get the freak outta here!" So... I think the movie was probably a littel better viewed unedited, but I don't know how much that helped. I wanted to like it but it was pretty worthless. Daryl Hannah is the worst actress ever... how she ever gets cast in anything, I will never know. So I wouldn't bother with this movie, if you like the actors in it(Slater, Getty or Kilmer) rent another one of their movies, cause this one sucks.

Habitat (1997)
Ridiculous but entertaining
15 June 2002
I have to say that I really liked this movie. I watched it for one and only reason... Balthazar Getty. I love him! Habitat was really pretty stupid and not very well made, but that's part of its charm. It's supposed to be a hokey sci fi flick. I appreciate movies like this. It was entertaining. Its not for everybody but check it out if you like to rent weird movies just to have something to do for a couple of hours.

I LOVED this movie
15 June 2002
It bears repeating, I absolutely loved this movie! It is one of my favorite movies of all time! I admit that initially I only wanted to see it because of Balthazar Getty, but it has so many great stars! Everyone does a fabulous job. Great story and characters. I have nothing to base this on, but it seems really realistic. There is some humor and some really sad parts. The director and writer Marc Rocco gives them a lot to work with. I don't see how anyone could not like this movie. Dermot Mulroney, Balthazar Getty, Sean Astin and Lara Flynn Boyle give fantastic performances! I highly recommend this movie! It does make you appreciate what you have and makes you realize how some people, kids, can end up and what can happen to them. Awesome flick!

Awesome

I saw this movie years ago, when I was pretty young and it scared the crap outta me. I rented it several months ago again and really loved it. I've read the book, which also was great, and I still the movie was so rad. People say that the symbolism is lost in the movie, a bit, but not enough to ruin it. I agree the could have done more with the pigs head and simon's epiphany. The location was gorgeous. I like the actors they chose. All of these kids at that time were unknowns and for most it was their first film, but they did a great job, especially Balthazar Getty. He's one of my favorite actors anyway, but this was his first film too and he did a great job as Ralph. I also like Danule Pipoly, who played Piggy. They really captured the feeling the book was trying to portray. There are some really creepy scenes in the book and in the movie its even more so. I love this movie, I don't know what it is about it that I find so great, but its something. And I read one comment on here about someone who thought the Alf reference was stupid or didn't like that it was in the movie, I personally think it was perfect to have that in there, after all these are just little boys. And of course they're going to miss their old lives and everything they used to do, so its fitting and it makes you realize that they are just litte kids. All that aside the books message was about humanity and the "beast" inside all of us and without civilization man instinctively turns to savagery, basically. There is a lot more to the book and the symbolism, but I think the movie captures it well and is a great adaptation that gets the message across.
