Space Jam (1996)
Peak looney tunes movie
This movie is about 23 years old as I'm writing this review. The first time I watched it, I hadn't even hit puberty yet. I am writing a review now, which means it has enough staying power to last 23 years.
It's not intellectual, it's not serious, it's a Looney Tunes movie and it delivers on that promise. It's silly fun, enjoyable for every age and good enough to warrant a gazillion rewatches from nostalgic millennials. Just watch it and enjoy.
Chip and Potato (2018)
Very cute
Very cute, wholly inoffensive and deals with recognizable situations for little kids. Doesn't work on your nerves after 5 episodes like some other shows aimed at 2/3/4/5 year olds.
Only real downside is the cutesy language. Don't watch if you hate cutesy nicknames. Or songs. Because there is definitely some singing. But hey, the kid likes the show and I haven't had the urge to throw a brick through the TV like I do with most other cartoons. So I'll deal with some cutesy language and bad songs.
The Christmas Chronicles (2018)
Good old Christmas fun
Let's be honest: when you hear "Christmas movie" you are going to expect cliches, mediocre storylines and some really sappy scenes about the meaning of Christmas. Especially when Santa is actually shown in the film. This movie is no different, but it is a lot of fun.
Kurt Russell plays a fun, albeit naughty-list worthy Santa. There's definitely some laughs to be had and the ending is about as corny as it gets. The kids do a decent job at acting like siblings. The scenes at the police station are pretty weird and silly, they're definitely worth a giggle.
If you're looking for Citizen Kane: the Christmas feelgood version, this is not the movie for you. But if you want a decent Christmas movie that you can watch with the whole family while enjoying Christmas cookies and hot chocolate, I would wholeheartedly recommend watching the Christmas Chronicles.
