Becker (1998–2004)
A unique and funny show (A)
29 July 2004
Well I just found out that the show has ended, which prompts me to write this review for the show. Something that I rarely do, and I am doing so now because I thought the show possessed something special.

The run down is simple, Ted Danson plays Dr John Becker a dedicated and talented doctor who has a very gruff exterior. The episodes revolve around his work in his practise and his interactions with his friends at his local diner. The show was interesting purely due to the talented and diverse cast, although they change throughout the seasons the show manages to keep its comedic style. I encourage anyone who hasn't seen the show to watch it, and all those who have…

Over the years I've become attached to the show and the characters in it. It will be sorely missed.

Spider-Man (2002)
9/10
friendly nieghbourhood spiderman
1 November 2002
The famous tale of young peter parker. Bitten by a radio-active (or as the film says genetically enginered) spider, he takes on some characteristics. The ability to shoot webs from his arms, stick to walls, spider-strength, spider-agility, and a the in-famous spider-sense. First he takes to wrestling and earning money for number 1, but when his uncle ben is killed by a man he could have stopped he turn to fighting crime.

This film was superb. The pace was very fast, there where no boring moments and it didnt drag. with load of amazing bits of CGI including, the chase between uncle-bens killer and peter and the final sequence.

Acting was great and so was the directing and by the end of this film you will believe that a man can really spin webs,

Swordfish (2001)
Good flick but it has its problems
8 August 2002
Warning: Spoilers
This film was very enjoyable yet at some points when the characters seem to get away from themselves The opening sequence is one of my favourites in movie history, let me explain....

*SPOILERS* The film starts towards the end. It opens with John Travolta, hugh jackman and don cheadlon in a coffee bar with Travolta doing a really interesting speech (perfctly preformed might i say). Another good scene is when a lady explode. Basically Travolta wants to rob a bank. All the hostages he attaches them with C4, thousands of ball bearings and a dog collar. When they move too far away from the bank/Travolta. The dog collar will make the C4 explode and launch the ball bearings, everywhere. The scene where we find out, can even rival some in the matrix.

The acting is great. They have a few twist that you wont expect. Although i urge you to rent it and get the DVD as then you can see the alternate endings! even though this ending was pretty clever!

Travolta is sensational. Jackman proves that he wasnt ridding the X-Men train. He proves he has some good acting skills, and has some great on screen chemistry with Berry. The scenes with Travolta and Jackman are good as it hard to uderstand thier relationship. Hally Berry is great as Ginger

We all know halle berry went topless in this movie. It is some of the most un-nessicary and un-flattering topless scene you will see.

*SPOILER* At one point Jackman walks in on her getting changed. Shes in a dress and takes it off and ends up in her underwear. Yet the scene where she is topless, shes reading a book and just pull the book down and there they are! for no apparent reason

The final chase scene takes an unexpected twist and i will say no more.

Good film to watch with your mates. If you want some movie magic you may want to look else where 7/10

The Gift (2000)
9/10
raimi good as ever
7 August 2002
Warning: Spoilers
in a small town, a single mother (cate blanchett) has some special gifts. She uses these gifts to gain some money to raise her 3 children. She uses some special card which have some special patterns (all of which are well used in the DVD menu) that when piece in certain orders allow her to see things and help out her clients. Her main client is a young woman named Valerie (Hilary Swank) help her cope with her abusive husband Donnie. Played well by Keanu Reeves. The other person se helps is a young man named Buddy Cole. Superbly played by Giovanni Ribisi (I cannot tell you how well he played this role, he brought it too life!!) its worth watching the film just for his piece of acting. One day when a new client comes and asks her to help him out with the disaperance of his young, sexy, daughter. Sam Raimi brings the wonders of this small town to life. He manages to enthrall you into this world. The camera holds you to screen, with some amzing feets. Then once in a while you have the gutrenching moments of suspense. All i can say is if you watch it at home just turn out the lights and trun on the surrond sound. Kate Blanchett play ehr characrter well. She manages to make her character and her issues beievable. possibly one of her best movie preformances to date. Giovani also has a great role. His scenes are just hard to watch and yet you cnat manage to draw yourself away from the screen Reeves is also great as Donnie. He somehow manages to strike fear into you at certain parts. Although sometime it seem a bit too much. Holmes, act as the missing child is played well. She also does a topless scene (Im beging to think all Raimi films has soem form of nudity in them) Finally Raimis work brings the screen alive.

*SPOILERS* I will note state what will happen at the end but it does seem like a disapointment to such a great film to be stuck with a teen-horror film ending.

Finall great movie must see 9/10
