Guts (1992)
Went from excellent to okay
GUTS was without a doubt one of the most popular shows on Nickelodeon during the "first generation era" (1979-99). I love that show. In fact, in my opinion, this show beats out Double Dare and Legends of the Hidden Temple. The host, Mike O'Malley, was energetic and laid back in the first season, but he calmed down in the remaining seasons (but still energetic). Referee Moira Quirk was energetic and funny and had personality in the first three seasons. She would joke a lot during that time. The chemistry between Mike and Moira would be so inseparable that in the third season, that there would be a halftime show where they would recap the highlights from the first half. The games were fun to watch. I loved Moon Race (although it aired 3 episodes in the first season) and Slam Dunk.
However, things went downhill with Global GUTS. It was okay and there's nothing wrong with the global competition, but the show lost a whole lot of spark. Mike O'Malley took his commentary way too seriously (as if he was on ESPN). He acts like he want the kids to win. As a matter of fact, he acts like a high school football (or basketball) coach. Moira would joke less often and her personality went out the window. The show was tweaked up too much. I guess that Nickelodeon wants to get serious with the show's direction. I clearly think that if GUTS didn't have global competition, then the show could have stayed on for one more year.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (1979)
It may be cheesy and full of jiggle but good movie
This movie is in the era of Jiggle TV and movies; Charlie's Angels, Three's Company, H.O.T.S., etc. This movie qualifies as a jiggle movie. This movie featured women from different backgrounds who try out for the squad, including one that is a writer (Jane Seymour) who is trying to do undercover work about America's Sweethearts, while trying out. There were different problems among the women, i.e. romance and sexual abuse. Although I'm a straight woman (and a big Cowboys fan), I'll have to say that the movie is good, despite the cheesiness. I'm sure that guys that were teens or young adults in the late 1970s find this movie amusing because it got Jane and Lauren Tewes in cheerleader uniforms (especially Jane because she really showed a whole lot of skin two years prior in Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger). This movie comes on rarely, so tape it now while you get a chance, whether or not you're a Cowboys fan.

Thanksgiving Family Reunion (2003)
They should have made it ten years ago!
I feel that this movie is terrible. None of the parts were funny at all to me. Also, if the movie was set in Idaho, then why there is no snow and why the people are wearing summer clothes? People in Idaho do not wear that stuff during Thanksgiving. Since this movie was filmed in Canada, I feel that the movie should have been filmed in January, instead of warm weather season, or they could have change the location of the movie, where people wear summer stuff during Thanksgiving (like Tennessee or Mississippi or Alabama or Texas (to be filmed in Canada, if that's the case)). Also, I feel that the movie should have been made ten years ago with Chevy Chase. I think that it would have been a good movie with Chevy in there.

The Santa Clause (1994)
Great Holiday Movie!
This movie is one of the greatest holiday flicks of all time. This movie ranks up there with The Santa Clause 2, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Elf, and Bad Santa as the best Christmas comedies. I was laughing for almost the entire movie. Tim Allen is so funny. I believe that Allen plays Santa Claus the best of all the actors that play Santa, because he's funny. I would watch this movie every year. This movie is for the entire family. I would absolutely recommend that you pick up a copy of the movie, (along with the sequel) even if you're not a fan of Tim Allen.
Grade: A
Crossroads (2002)
This ain't Glitter or Spice World
Ok, some of you all said that Crossroads is bad because of Britney Spears. Let me tell you something, the movie is good, even though it is not Oscar quality. In the past, people and critics would pan movies with pop stars in there like Spice World (The Spice Girls), A Walk to Remember (Mandy Moore), and Glitter (Mariah Carey). Spice World and A Walk to Remember are good movies. I can't say the same for Glitter.
Now, the movie is nowhere near like Spice World or Glitter, because there is less cheesiness in Crossroads than Spice World and Glitter. Britney Spears is not a terrible actress. You all are putting her down as an actress because she is a singer. Cher is both a good actress and singer.
I would recommend this movie for 13 years old or older, because there are some scenes that are inappropriate for younger eyes. If the deleted scenes were added in, then I would recommend it for 16 years old ore older.

John Q (2002)
The movie is not that bad people!!!
Come on, the movie is not that bad. In fact it was good. Denzel and the rest of the cast put on a good performance of the movie. What makes you think that you hated or dislike the movie. I think that the critics have overlooked the movie. In fact, I think that the movie is the most underrated movie ever.
