Even Stevens (2000–2003)
Pretty Darn Good
5 August 2002
Even Stevens is an exception for Disney shows. Most of the time Disney pops out shows that are too teeny bopper(Lizzie McGuire), too corny(The Jersey), too boring(The Proud Family), or too dumb(So Weird). So when I watched Even Stevens for the first time, I expected the worst. What I got was the exact opposite. I think Shia Labouef is a GREAT actor. He has wit, charm, and doesn't come off as if he's trying too hard to make you laugh. Christy Romano is a perfect example of the too perfect teen. I relate to her which even makes her never-ending quest to be too perfect not seem annoying. Plus she isn't a Britney Spears wannabe showing her midriff every chance she gets. Nick Spano is just there for girls to lust over(he is pretty hot), but when he gets a chance to act(not just lift weights without a shirt on, or prance around in a sports uniform) he amazes me. He is cute but not in an overwhelming boy band way, and he acts like a normal guy. He isn't too dumb(calling Ethan Craft from Lizzie McGuire) and isn't too jock. Donna Pescow is a GREAT actress. She pulls off the part of Mom without being too preachy or mushy or hard-core. Tom Virtue reminds me so much of my dad that it scares me. A. J. Trauth is a perfect accomplice to Shia Labouef, leveling out Shia's craziness with a dose of normal pre-teen. Teens and kids will like this show. Parents may be a little bored, but my mom laughs each time Coach Tugnutt says a line. This is the Disney channel charm, and, believe it or not, Disney actually made it.

Boy Meets World (1993–2000)
One of the Best
5 August 2002
Boy Meets World is one of the best shows. I relate to it a lot. A lot of people may bash it, but even my parents can't go a day without watching it on Disney. Cory is sweet-hearted and good natured, he may get a little annoying but he always goes back to being sweet Cory. Shawn is perfectly written and acted. He plays the bad boy everybody knows, but he truly has a good heart. Topanga is perfect for Cory. She adds smartness and class to the usual ditzy girl stereotype for tv. Eric is FUNNY!! Will Friedle is a talented actor in everything he does, and adds a little comic relief to the dramedy(drama/comedy) and when he goes to college, he gets even funnier. Jack is just hot and sweet. He's a perfect best friend to Eric, adding calmness to Eric's craziness. Angela is a good character, allowing Topanga to have a girl who's a friend. Rachel is your typical college girl who both Jack and Eric want, and Mr. and Mrs. Matthews are great. Mr. Feeny is perfect. He preaches about life and we all need someone to help us in that department. Some may say that there is no way he could have followed them all through there school years, but I have a teacher who's been with my class since the 7th grade. Boy Meets World isn't just a great cast, it's a great plot. Especially the later episodes. It deals with divorce, sex before marriage, marriage, college, death, estrangement from family, dating, and most of all just normal life. When Topanga and Cory break up, it's normal teenager life that you don't want to happen. When Shawn and Jack lose their dad, you feel their pain. When Jack wins over Rachel instead of Eric, you don't know who's side to be on. When Cory is hit on by a girl offering sex, you see his morals leave, but then come back before he gets a chance to get it on. When Eric doesn't get into college, you want to be there to comfort him. When Topanga's parents announce they're divorcing, you know exactly how she feels. And as always everything works out. Which is the way you want your life to work out.
