Monster High (2022)
Fun little Halloweenish musical
As a dork who loves silly fantasy-high school musicals, this this was a fun way to veg out at the end of a long day! The songs were catchy, and you could tell the actors were having fun with their roles.
I will note I know nothing about this franchise and just happened to come across the movie on the hotel's tv. Not sure what fans of Monster High universe will think, but as a total newbie the characters were fun, especially Frankie. Loved seeing the inclusion of non/binary characters too.
Recommend for a fun, Halloween movie for those who love the spooky season but can't handle actually horror/terror movies.
The Quest (2022)
A fun little show
At first I almost turned it off cause it was a bit cheesy but kept watching and found myself rooting for the kids and wanting to know how it finished. I've got some qualms with it, but overall a fun show to watch on a lazy weekend.
Doctor Who: Love & Monsters (2006)
Surprisingly refreshing
I am absolutely enamored with this episode. It's one of those things you can't explain but it's absolutely moving. I've been going thru a rough time and this episode was apparently exactly what I needed to reset things emotionally.
Unicorn Store (2017)
An unexpected gem!
I absolutely loved this movie!! Maybe it super resonated with me because I went to art school and I also worked in advertising and as an only child I had an wild imagination that served as a great playmate growing up. Either way, this movie hit home and was absolutely charming.
Blush (2021)
Omg what an unexpected gem!
I happened to put this short on at 2 in the morning while feeding my newborn and now I'm sobbing uncontrollably writing this review. What an incredibly touching tribute to his late wife!!!! And beautifully animated. I think it's very fitting this short had no dialogue because it has left me completely speechless.
Moxie (2021)
Excellent
Want to get pumped up to go out and change the world? Watch this movie.
So happy that young women get to have movies like this in their lives.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Spellbinding
This show is an absolute masterpiece. Brilliant acting, writing, directing, set design, everything.
I've never been so emotionally invested in something I knew so little about.
I can't recommend it enough!!
Daybreak (2019)
A gem
Absolutely loved the tongue in cheek approach to a teen apocalypse show. Super refreshing and heck of a lot of fun to watch.
The Code (2011)
Really interesting content made slightly cliche with this "code" concept
This show has really interesting and exciting content, but the concept of the "underlying code" just makes it feel a wee bit silly. If you can ignore that, it's a great documentary.
I do give them kudos for their use of math in storytelling.
Set It Up (2018)
Just what you'd expect, and yet is exactly what you wanted
Cute, adorable romcom which goes pretty much as you'd expect, but why would you be watching a romcom if you didn't want it to go exactly how you'd expect?
