Kung Fu Panda (2008)
AMAZING movie
Kung Fu Panda is probably the only Dreamworks movie I have ever seen that I enjoyed more than Pixar. Its even at the same level of animation- if not higher.
There were hardly any flaws in this movie. The animation was beautiful and colorful, every voice was excellent for there rolls, the display of Chinese festivals and history was great, and the music was definitely at par with this year's WALL-E.
Jack Black is the perfect panda. He's silly, he's lovable- they couldn't have picked anyone better for the roll. Dustin Hoffman is a GREAT Shifu. All of the furious five (Crane, Viper, Tigress, Mantis, and Monkey) have excellent voicers. My favorite character is going to have to remain at long legged, graceful Crane for now, but the hilariously voiced Mr. Ping is a DEFINETE close second.
The only flaw I could cockily pick out (after seeing the movie at least five times) is the plot, which could be improved. The movie is about chubby Po, who's love for Kung Fu is completely disguised while working at his father's Noodle Shop. But then, after pure accident, Po is picked to fight against Tai Lung, the kung fu master that has such a temper he can ruin the valley of peace with a twitch of his pinkie finger. Tai Lung has escaped from jail- and he's COMING. It's up to Po to stop him... Most of the movie was spent showing Po's hilarious training.
But what the movie lacked in plot (Don't get me wrong, the plot was EXCELLENT, but its a review so I better get all the cards out on the table) was made up in its characters, great jokes, animation, and pure entertainment.
Also, if you've got VERY VERY small kids, you might want to wait until their a little older, depending on how sensitive they are. The awesome, action packed fighting scenes in this movie might be considered frightening for younger viewers.
A little side note: Secrets of the Furious Five is awesome, too. Buy the DVD- with all of the features, its definitely worth it! I would recommend it to anyone!
Life with Derek (2005)
My favorite show!
Life with Derek is by far the best show on Disney Channel! All of the cast does a wonderful job, especially the roles of Edward and Lizzy, the two "middle children" who are always trying to make their mark. Ashley L. does a great job of playing Casey, the serious older stepsister, and they couldn't of chosen anyone better than Micheal Seat Er to play Derek. The youngest child, Marty, does a great job and will be seen in more movies as she gets older for sure. The actor and actress who play Nora and George are great too. They usually deliver the lesson but get a good joke in here and there.
I recommend this show to anyone, no matter WHAT age you will love it!
The Rookie (2002)
Amazing Family Movie!
"The Rookie" was a near perfect movie that was based on a true story. It added different genres at just the right moments: a sprinkle of drama, many parts of family, and a heck of a lot of baseball.
Starring Denis Quad, The Rookie was about a Texas High School Baseball Coach/Father who agreed his team that if they were to make the playoffs, he would try out for the major league. Little did he know, he actually had a 98 batting average and of course, was sent to play on a major league team.
If your part of a sports family or just simply love baseball, I highly recommend that you see the Rookie.
Best Sports movie of 2002 Hands Down! My Rating: 9/10
Garfield: The Movie (2004)
Nothing Special, But Still A Pretty Good Movie
The movie "Garfield" wasn't really anything special, but I still enjoyed it. The cast did a great job, and Bill Murray was excellent voicing Garfield, the worlds favorite fat cat. Garfield had its funny moments, its sad, and of course, the moments where you thought of your favorite 80's comic strip. The Plot: When Jon comes home with a new dog, Odie, Garfield automatically takes a dislike to him. But when Odie is dog napped, its up to Garfield to save the day. Garfield was your standard family movie. The film featured B.Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Bill Murray. I enjoyed it, and I hope you will, too. My rating: 7/10.
Get Smart (2008)
Excellent Movie
"Get Smart" was an excellent film. I had the pleasure of witnessing it only a few weeks ago, and I think it truly was worth my ten dollars.
Get Smart starred Steve Carrel and Anne Hathaway. They fit the parts of Agent 86 and Agent 99 perfectly. This movie was mixed with action AND comedy at the same time- not something you see a lot in movie theaters anymore.
Get Smart was about Agent 86(Carrel) and Agent 99(Hathaway), who team up together to battle the forces of K A O S. They make an unlikely pair- the competent Agent 86 and clueless Maxwell Smart.
Dwayne Johnson and Alan Ark in co star as Agent 23 and The Chief. It also features Terence Stamp, from the original 1965 version, as Siegfried.
I recommend you to see this movie- it was excellent!
College Road Trip (2008)
I loved it!
"College Road Trip" is a new film by Disney, and I can honestly say I enjoyed this film more than I enjoyed a movie in a long time. This movie is about an overachieving seventeen year old girl named Melanie Porter. She plans a girls only road trip- but then her overprotective father insists on joining her so that he can make sure she goes to the close-to-home college, Northwestern. Of course, that follows with hilarious adventures. This movie features Raven (Melanie Porter) Martin Lawrence (Chief James Porter) and Brenda Song (Nancy). When I rented College Road trip, I wasn't expecting it to be that good, but I was pleasantly surprised with the film I watched. This movie features "Double Dutch Bus" sung by Raven her self. An excellent movie!
Bee Movie (2007)
I'm Impressed!
Bee Movie was an excellent movie! It was about a bee named Barry .B. Benson, a bee that had just graduated from college. When he finds out that he can only have one job for his entire life, he decides to go outside the hive so that he can see what the real world is like before he is set to work for the rest of his life. When he gets lost from the bees he had been traveling with, he shelters himself on the balcony of someone in New York city's apartment. He accidentally goes inside the apartment and all of the people inside it try to kill him except for one. He is saved by Vanessa Bloom, a florist in New York. Barry and Vanessa become friends. One day Barry finds out that humans have been selling bee's hard worked for honey, and he decides to sue humans. He has many hilarious adventures along the way to winning his trial in court.
Barry .B. Benson is voiced by famous comedian Jerry Seinfeld. Seinfeld also produces and writes the hilarious movie. Bee Movie is filled with many pop culture jokes, such as a "Bee Larry king" and a "Hive at Five" news station.
I'm sure that children as well as adults will enjoy this movie. My rating: 9/10
Camp Rock (2008)
Not worth it
I was excited to see the premiere of Camp Rock, because I figured that it would be a fun, music filled movie featuring the Jonas Brothers. But I was greatly disappointed.
Camp Rock is about a girl named Mitchell Torres. She isn't very popular, doesn't have many friends, and her family is a little poor. When her mother announces that she is to go to Camp Rock, a camp for inspiring musicians, she is thrilled. When she gets to camp, she finds out the pop star sensation Shane Gray will be instructing there. Unlike all of the other girls, she doesn't fall all over him. Then one night before dinner, Mitchell starts playing the piano and singing on the deck, thinking that no one is listening. But Shane is, he's hiding behind a bush. He thinks that the song Mitchell was singing was just the type of music that he likes, but when he goes to see who was singing it, Mitchell is gone. So that Mitchell will be popular, she gets herself into a bundle of lies that her mother is president of Hot Tunes in China, etc. Then she befriends Shane and when he finds out about all of her lies, he gets mad at her, and all of that jazz. Then at the end they sing together and all of that. See? Even my short summary sounds cheesy, like the flick.
Anyway, this movie isn't worth your time so don't watch it unless you like movies that can make you fall asleep. My rating: 4/10
The Latest Buzz (2007)
A comment from a kids perspective
Look, I've been reading some of the user comments for this show. I'm pretty sure that the people who've been writing them are like 30 or 40 years old, because this show is trash. And that's from a kids perspective.
This show is on only every Friday, lucky for me. Whenever it's on, I have to endure the pain since all the other kids channels are even worse than the The Latest Buzz, if that's even possible.
The program focuses on a group of high school students that all write columns in the popular "Teen Buzz" magazine. The five topics are; music, who's writer is Noah, a popular teen who has a tough first impression but a sweet personality when you get to know him, Fashion, written by Amanda, a snobby rich girl who's used to getting everything she wants but who's nice deep down, and School Issues by Rebbecca, the nice, naive girl who is just getting used to working with her peers. There is also Michael and Wilder, who write Celebrity Gossip and Gaming (Extreme sports and video games). Micheal is Rebbecca's best friend and has a much similar personality, while Wilder is kind, funny, and a little dopey but still very lovable.
Now, one of the reasons that I wouldn't give this show a flat 1/10 is because the characters personality's make me laugh even though they are all terrible actors (no offense). The only decent actors in this program are Mr. Shepard and DJ. The plots in this show are weak, the laugh track is flat out annoying, and the jokes they do make don't make me laugh even though according to the laugh track, I'm supposed to.
There's much better shows out there: The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Life with Derek, and Wizards of Waverly Place.
My Rating: 3/10
