Ahsoka (2023)
Pa-thetic..
What on earth (or whatever planet they were on at the time) were the producers of this Star Wars story series thinking when they wrote, cast, directed and shot this after each episode made it to the screening room???
Seriously, the lead actors have absolutely zero presence and deliver each line like they showed up late not wanting to be there in the first place and without memorizing a single word and had to have each and every line fed to them one at a time.. All the pregnant pauses make me nuts..
Although I like the lead actress's in this series I absolutely have to believe that they were sorely miscast in this series and their lack of enthusiasm shines through brighter than anything else in each episode! But of course the dull writing and extremely lazy directing play a very large part in the abject failure of it all.
I've basically been giving even The Mandalorian series a pass on its slow moving lazy writing after the first two seasons just because at least there the acting and directing is acceptable but the excitement is quickly waning.
Now the both the actors and writers in Hollywood have once again been on strike and cut deals to make all our streaming prices skyrocket and have to be turned on and off every other month to put more money in their pockets, maybe they can show their thanks by actually writing, casting, acting and directing some quality material thats actually more than just a step up from falling asleep to the Home Shopping Network or worse yet another society destroying reality series.
No One Will Save You (2023)
What a let down.
This movie was lame and weird! I was so psyched when I saw the previews and with some of the interestingly shot elements in this film it could have been so much better if they had just stuck with the fear angle and added more of it.. I would have liked to see more characters and dialogue in the movie because basically the only sound in this movie comes from the special effects. But like so many other terribly made "so called" sci-fi horror movies made these days they tried to add a sensitive plot twist having to do with the main character to tie the movie together towards the end of the film often leavening me confused and lost as to what was even going on and it totally lost its horror/alien sci-fi appeal! Unfortunately, true horror and sci-fi fans should be prepared to be disappointed by this movie although I'd love to see the writers and director use the same type techniques and fear elements they used in making this film and just stick with the horror/sci-fi experience with no hidden messages other than pure survival in the future.
The Idol: Daybreak (2023)
I die more inside with each horrible episode
Ok,
I'm officially sickened..
So much so that I don't even want to hear any more music ever by The Weekend, because I will forever associate his voice with this absolute
trash of a tv show that I pray young people aren't getting any extremely unhealthy pointers from.
If MAX (formerly the better HBO) actually screened this beforehand and still decided it was the type of original material they wanted to show and promote
then it's probably time to drop them as a subscription as well.
I'll have to make it a point to personally warn everyone to stay away from anything the writers and director of this series does from now on if this is what they consider
good programming. It's just bad on every single level.
The Idol (2023)
Filth is not a plot!
Ok,
This is literally the type of garbage, skin flick that female actresses are sick and tired of!
There's literally so many better ways this story could be told and acted instead of relying on all
the embarrassing, gratuitous nudity and down right disgusting pornography and sexual innuendo.
I'm embarrassed for Ms. Deep and I certainly hope she doesn't continue to fall prey to the sleazy, dirty minded males in this industry
who are just looking for girls in Hollywood gullible enough to think this is good for their career.
I can tell that Ms. Deep has great talent..I just hope her judgment on how to use it and who to trust in the future improves.
Ford v Ferrari (2019)
Great watch..and Ford sucks
Great movie, great performances, excellent writing and direction..
It shows how the people behind the scenes were the real heroes.. the same types that get robbed of the credit for amazing thing's every day in this nation
by a bunch of self important executive stuffed shirts!
The only car that ever won was created by the 2 men that Ford screwed over the most, Shelby and Miles the driver.
To this day they have never been able to recreate that magic, proving that them winning had absolutely nothing to do with them making great cars or being a good company..because they failed on both those fronts.
Left me hating Ford Motors as much as I always have for the junk they make and the terrible way they treat their most valuable assets.
I'm all for buying American..but never a Ford.
True Lies: Pilot (2023)
Ho Hum Dribble
From character development and plot summary to conversational script the writers on this were either hired from the cleaning staff or they have no sense of what goes into the success of this type of subject matter.
Either way they should find a different line of work!
The directing is also a flop, especially when it comes to action scenes.
Here's an idea.. just because you saw the action scenes in a movie once it doesn't mean you should try and pack them all in a poorly constructed and executed way into your pilot episode and just be happy with the way it was performed.
I actually like the actors in this..but that's the ONLY thing good I can say about it.
HARD PASS.
For All Mankind: Stranger in a Strange Land (2022)
Cover your eyes
The season finale has me biting my knuckles and covering my eyes..And ended with my mouth gaping in pure shock!
Excellent episode that definitely makes the wait for season 4 even harder.
Pennyworth: The Lion and Lamb (2021)
In a time of too serious shows during COVID I was thankful for this episode!
Ok,
So the baby has me confused..you'll see why after watching this episode.
But this entire episode and especially the rather comedic ending just made me smile.
After the last year we've all had I certainly have to give props to any show that sets out to do just that, as
I'm sure was the whole point here..to be left feeling GOOD!
The Boys: What I Know (2020)
Best episode yet!
It's about time! That's all I'll say..other than don't ever give up, stand back or give in when you know injustice is being covered up wherever you may live!
Life Like (2019)
A total waste of time
What a horrible movie. I like Steven Straight and I wish he had just turned down the role. The writing and directing are just terrible for the possibilities of the subject matter. I seriously feel like whoever wrote this has or has had a psychotic wife that is or was never happy, even when she was making him miserable! Seriously, the wife character in this move made me want to throw her out and divorce her even though we've never even met! Pretty bodies to look at but this was a TERRIBLE MOVE ALL AROUND!
Kunstneren og tyven (2020)
Not documented in a believable manner
Even though the crime was committed the way this documentary was contrived and scripted (as I'm certain it was) just makes the whole interaction between the artist and the thief seem completely unbelievable to me.
I also feel like there a too many holes in the story that just make no sense at all to me. I won't go into all of them, though there are many (for example the order in which the picture of the crashed car was shown early on before the actual crash even supposedly happened to the perfect condition the thief seemed to be in in the hospital bed after the crash without a single scratch on him).
I love a true story of forgiveness and redemption, but for me this definitely would not be an Oscar contending documentary.
Dangerous Lies (2020)
Another Netflix Waste of Subscribers Time and Monthly Payment!
I wanted to shut this horrible, nonsensical movie off after the first 20 minutes!
I just don't understand why Netflix expects to keep subscribers with these horrible movies and horribly dubbed over films and shows that are labeled Netflix Originals??
I'm also tired of every female playing the role of completely CLUELESS in Netflix shows?
Don't waste your precious brain cells when there are so many other fantastic originals being pumped out rightfully now by other streaming services like Apple TV, Hulu and HBO just to name the top 3 that have consistently pumped out AMAZING movies and shows ALREDY this year with more to come!
Netflix definitely needs new management!
The Most Dangerous Animal of All (2020)
Worth a FREE watch ONLY!
I could go through a long list of what I truly think about the lack of integrity and emotional stability of both the son here who tried to desperately make people believe that his biological father was the Zodiac killer and the co-author who claims to be a thorough investigative writer. But upon reading all the other reviews here I see that most other reviewers have already said most of what I would say concerning the both of them and there validity. I will add that I feel that the way the son and the author released this made-up scenario without getting the approval of his biological mother and by casting doubt on her former husband (the fist black chief of police ever in San Francisco and even suggesting that he may have purposefully covered up the true identity of the Zodiac killer was unforgivable! I will reiterate that the son here who seems so badly to want to make his biological father be a horrid serial killer needs serious psychological treatment and may be trying to connect his own dark, inner feelings with that of a deranged serial killer! I'll also will add that I will never be duped into buying any so-called "Fact based book" by the female coauthor here!
The Island (2005)
Fantastic Effects And A Great Story
Michael Bay really shines as Director of in this movie.
You can definitely tell by all of the fantastic action shots in this Sci-Fi futuristic tale that it had a big budget and Michael Bay doing the type of work that we all know and love him for.
It's a tale of what extremes those with money and without a soul would go through to extend their own lives.
The lead actors are really great and so are the supporting actors.
Sometimes humorous and sometimes sad with lots of great action and chase scenes thrown in to make it one heck of a ride from about halfway through the film on to it's over 2 hour total length.
I highly recommend watching this as I have seen it 3 times now in total, waiting long enough between re-watching that each time just feels even better than the first.
No Small Parts: #221 - Merritt Wever (2020)
Merritt Weaver is a 10+ Actress
Love her and she most definitely deserves staring leading roles as long as they remember to take advantage of her excellent way of delivering an offbeat line that just comes out of nowhere!
Little Fires Everywhere: The Uncanny (2020)
Superb!
*SPOILERS*
I finally finished the whole episode. I tell you what, this episode all by itself deserves an Emmy! So extremely well scripted and acted. The ending scene with Pearl getting older in the back seat of the same old car as they keep moving from town to town and that song done in that tempo..Just exceptional work by the entire cast, writers and directors ect...
