A Christmas for the Ages (2023)
Over-the-Top Christmas
To reiterate the views from some of the other IMDB members, I believe this had so much potential, but fell short. I totally loved the idea of the 4 gens coming together (& loved the wardrobe) but was really hoping they'd maybe flashback or cutaway to the times being referenced. It's would have been great to see young Grandma-great in her prime, Grandma enjoying Christmas in the 60s and so on. This could have been so much more!
In any event, I appreciate the attempt but maybe next time we dial down the perfection (& maybe the excess intimidating behavior of the father toward the new boyfriend... boy did THAT get old quick! So silly *insert eye roll here*)
I suppose there's always time, GAC!
Best. Christmas. Ever! (2023)
Confusing & odd
I really wanted to like this one because I love Brandy and thought the kids were adorable. It starts out pretty enjoyable with good introduction of characters, but then goes downhill from there.
The story is all over the place... way too many plot lines that don't make sense together. I wasn't sure what this movie was trying to achieve, unfortunately.
I do need to touch on a couple spoilers that just irked me. Upon driving to the main character's sister's home for Christmas, they discovered after the fact that it wasn't actually the right home... like how do you not know what you're sister's new house looks like? Wouldn't you check the address prior to leaving, especially if you've never seen the home? So weird.
Then there's the whole "is Santa real thing" and one of the kids trying to figure out if she has superpowers; they just don't fit within the movie.
While I was really hoping this to turn itself around with the storylines falling together, I was disappointed. The very end (like the last two minutes) tried to do just that and it fell flat.
In all honesty, I'd skip this one (& I rarely say this about Christmas movies; they're my fave genre!)
Stranger in the Night (2019)
Pretty good indie horror flick!
While many times you could tell this was an indie, the actors/actresses did a pretty good job staying in character. Cinematography was mediocre but the storyline was clever and fun. Had me wanting to watch more, so I consider this a success.
Nice twist at the end!
Parent Trap: Hawaiian Honeymoon (1989)
Two of my favorite things in one package!
What's NOT to love about this cute little addition to a childhood favorite franchise?
A). It's the Parent Trap and B). They're in Hawaii! Sure it has some plot holes here and there, but it's got a lot of charm. I recently watched this again as an adult and it's just as good as I remember on Wonderful World of Disney!
So if you're in the mood for something fun & nostalgic with beautiful scenery sprinkled on top, this is your flick.
Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists (2019)
Intrigued... is this what we PLL fans have been waiting for?!
I was pretty skeptical of this series when I saw it advertised on Insta. I thought, "if they have to do it... please don't let it end up like Ravenswood!" It seems my prayers MAY have been answered but it's too soon to tell.
I really enjoy that they have incorporated past PLL characters in the script (albeit indirectly) because it makes the it seem more believable as a continuation of the story. It's been fun comparing my own theories with those of the writers regarding the 'where are they now?' game.
I'm going to give it a whirl and see where it takes me!
