Army of the Dead (2021)
A new and different Zombie flick
I liked the visual style of the movie. The fade ins/outs and the intensity of colors was cool. Some characters I could have done without but for the most part they were effective. I see this as an evolution of Zombie movies. We finally get someone that really uses their imagination and gives us something different. Isn't that what you all want?
Deputy (2020)
They will find a way
People we don't care about your political views. If you don't like something on a fictional TV show because it doesn't fit into YOUR worldview don't watch it. And, after not watching it there is no need to post why you didn't. Nobody cares.
Black Summer (2019)
Best Zombie Series I've ever seen
If you're a Zombie fan you've seen many different takes on the genre. But, the most common aspect, for me, has been a lack of true acting ability. Another is the overuse of back story and conflict among characters; trivial conflict. This series gets right to the action almost immediately and doesn't let up at all. The use of little clues you're shown throughout the series explains many things if you really pay attention. The editing is spot on. And, they did a top notch job of casting. The director was smart to use perception to tell their story much more so than words. This if a great Zombie series and to see people throw out such low scores really makes me disappointed. Not that they didn't like it but that they would try to paint a false picture of a great series. I don't understand the motives of these people.
Iron Fist: A Duel of Iron (2018)
Use the source material at your disposal
I really don't understand these writers. It's like they hire everyone BUT those that really know what they're writing about. Iron Fist has so much material to use and instead we get this. Who is your target audience? It can't be real fans. And, if not I get it. I guess it's more of them than of us. This season was better than one by a country mile. But, putting so much focus on colleen and then giving her the Iron Fist was too much. You're passing around the Iron Fist waaay too easily. And, why make Danny such a idiot?
Britannia (2017)
Great Series
Don't expect large battle scenes or emphasis on Roman tactics and/or historical accuracy; not that you could ever find that anywhere. This series is mostly about the Celts and their relationship to the druids, as well as the effect of Roman intrusion. Not only that but what are the ulterior motives of the Roman General Aulus? There is definitely a mystical vibe to this series also. Maybe even magic? That being said it throws all historical arguments out the door and leans more towards fantasy. I really don't mind that one bit. Great scenery, actors, writers, makeup artist, editors, sound...I could go on and on. .
I really enjoyed the scenes with Ania and Phelan. Their exchanges had me laughing so hard. They have a chemistry that makes everything seem natural. David Morrissey playes his part very well. And, he seems to always have the upper hand in every situation he is in. This is a really good series that has a big fantasy feel to it and I'm glad to have watched it. If you don't like it because of certain casting choices that says more about you than the quality of this series. Hate is such a waste of valuable time.
Dungeons & Dragons: The Book of Vile Darkness (2012)
Not a bad movie at all
I liked this movie a lot more then I thought I would. I've been a D&D enthusiast for many years so I might be somewhat biased but trust me, like you, I think I have an idea of what makes a bad movie. Terrible wooden acting...well, we can check that off because the people in this movie can act and could only be held back by their respective scripts and/or directors. Cinematography is thought out and enhances the movie well enough. I also liked the costumes and while acceptable I think Bezz's make-up could have been done a little bit better. Many D&D references were threw out without being totally obvious and it really added to the lore. This is not your average sci-fi channel garbage. Groundbreaking it is not. But, what it does it does well. Acceptable script, capable actors, decent costumes and good cinematography in a genre that is starved for something even half-way decent. Thank you to everyone involved in this movie. I give this movie a solid 7. But, most importantly its in my personal collection.
